Chapter 22 [Saint's Remains] and [The Seven Knights of Heaven] (Please continue reading)

The moment Li Wei pulled the ring off the skeletal finger, the moving knight's armor outside suddenly scattered into a pile of armor parts on the ground.

Knight Fred, who was engaged in a fierce battle with the knight's armor, finally breathed a sigh of relief.

He, a dignified knight, was unable to subdue such a bunch of inanimate objects.

It's simply unimaginable.

"This is an attack by an evil spirit!"

"That's right, it's definitely an evil spirit! It possessed the armor and attacked us, but it was driven away by Knight Fred. Knight Fred is too strong!"

"My God, has the evil spirit finally appeared in our Blackwater Valley?"

"Merciful Heavenly Father, destroy these vile evil spirits."

The soldiers assumed that an evil spirit had possessed the armor, causing it to attack them.

Knight Fred remained silent. Although he had never seen an evil spirit, he felt that an evil spirit capable of easily killing Rock Bear Knights and Frostwolf Knights should not be so weak.

But he couldn't think of a better explanation for the time being.

Only Li Wei, gazing at this pile of armor, was overwhelmed with indescribable excitement.

"Wizards are like a treasure trove, found without a second thought. Who would have thought that clues to wizards would be found in the back mountains of our territory? Now, I can be 100% certain that wizards exist in this world, or at least... have existed before."

Li Wei, who had been searching for clues about the wizard without success, began to doubt whether the wizard was just a legend.

This story comes from the "Code of Creation" compiled by the third pope of the Church of St. Radiant Light, which records a story of a loving father.

"These seven followers are known as the Seven Knights of Heaven. Each of the seven knights inherited the speed, endurance, spirit, mind, strength, defense, and wisdom of the gods. Therefore, the black aura born from the knights should essentially be the divine power of the saint's remains, and should be called [Sacred Relic Power]."

"God loves the world more than himself, and the world should love God as their parents. God nourishes knights with the blood and flesh of saints, and knights should set an example, be loyal to God, practice God's will, and spread the glory of the Father."

This is the Genesis Codex's explanation of the knights' origins, and it's also why the official explanation for the "dark aura" is "holy relic power."

The truth of the matter is unknown, but in a miscellaneous note by a scholar of folk religion, the story of the knight's origin in the Code of Creation also mentions an interesting myth not recorded in the Code of Creation.

"Among the Seven Knights of Heaven mentioned in the Codex of Creation, the knight who obtained divine wisdom harbored immense ambition. In a later world where the Heavenly Father and angels resided high in the celestial realm, and saints had vanished, this knight and his descendants, using their wisdom far surpassing that of mortals, attempted to steal the authority of the celestial gods with mortal bodies, seeking to obtain the most fundamental thing that makes a god: divinity! In short, this knight, who should have been practicing divine ideals on earth, wanted to ignite the divine fire, condense divinity, and declare himself a god! This undoubtedly incurred the wrath of the gods!"

"After many years, the angels of the astral realm descended to the mortal world, intending to suppress these people with their supreme divine power. However, they discovered that during the years when the gods were absent, these people used divine wisdom to research a series of world-destroying spells. With mortal bodies, they mastered the abilities of earth, fire, wind, water, light, darkness, lightning, and even the cycle of life and death, which only gods should be able to control."

"That battle affected the entire continent where the seven kingdoms are now located, and even some angels fell. But in the end, the angels still won the final victory. The knight who obtained the wisdom of the gods and his descendants were all wiped out."

"That group of people were the wizards of later legends, and the first knight who inherited the wisdom of the gods was the ancestor of wizards: Sauron."

Because Li Wei had recently collected a lot of legends and books about wizards, whether they were travelogues or unofficial histories, he had read them all. He could always discern something from the truth and falsehood when he put them together.

At first, Li Wei thought these were all myths.

However, considering the history of the Mellon family and the witch Gulveig behind the frost giant's armor, all of this may not be just a myth.

"Perhaps, there really are... gods in this world." Li Wei thought of a terrifying truth.

"The gods and the church are certainly hostile to wizards, a group with great potential. Perhaps this is why wizards rarely show their faces on this continent."

"Should I continue pursuing the path of a wizard?" Levi asked himself.

He sighed inwardly. He couldn't answer this question for the time being; time would tell.

Finally, after confirming that there was nothing else of value there, Li Wei ordered the soldiers to pack the armor into boxes. He was still unclear about the connection between the armor and the ring, and did not know how to use it. He could only study it slowly when he got back. He also ordered the cave to be sealed off.

Inside the cave, only the towering remains remain, silently witnessing eight hundred years of change and historical shifts. Only the colossal Church of Holy Light stands behind, never falling.

"You must not let anyone know about our encounter with the evil spirit today. Doing so will only cause unnecessary panic. Otherwise, you will be killed without mercy!" Li Wei threatened.

After gaining a general understanding of the church's attitude towards wizards, he felt that he needed to be more careful when searching for clues about wizards in the future.

Even a powerful family like the Giants was wiped out by the Knights of Light; for the Church to destroy itself would be even easier.
