Warhammer 40: Saviors Emerging from the Bottom

Chapter 33 The Unknown Space Marine

When Xiao Yi's fingers touched the bone plate on the prisoner's forehead, his soul began to try to establish a connection with the other.

Lacking experience, Xiao Yi chose the most brutal method. The intense pain caused the cunning prisoner to struggle incessantly, to the point that Robert had to use both hands to restrain him.

Now he understood why Xiao Yi had demanded that the limbs of these aliens be severed; otherwise, he alone would not have been able to control them.

Robert's human identity prevented him from feeling any pity for the alien, but the screams it emitted seemed to pierce his soul, causing him, as a bystander, to feel pain.

"This must be some vile alien using some special means to deceive me. I must not give in. Emperor, please bless your loyal servant."

Robert tried to calm himself down and alleviate the phantom pain he was experiencing.

This wasn't actually a phantom pain; Xiao Yi's forced intrusion into the gene stealers' internal network sparked a small resistance.

Just like throwing a small pebble into a calm lake, it will definitely create some ripples. Although it won't cause any substantial impact, it will allow the surrounding creatures to clearly feel the change.

The prisoners' screams drew the attention of the surrounding soldiers, but seeing the two officers standing there calmly, they did not rush over.

Having successfully torn a gap in the network, Xiao Yi has entered a gray and white world where Robert, the church, and the surrounding imperial soldiers have all disappeared.

All that remained were scattered purple lights throughout the abandoned residential area, and Xiao Yi could even clearly sense their inner emotions.

Fearful and uneasy, they yearn for peace, but it is impossible. Unless they are all eliminated, Bakda and several surrounding planets risk being exposed to the tentacles of the Zerg hive fleet.

In order to find the gene-stealing patriarch who brought the Tyran genes to this planet, Xiao Yi's soul drifted along the network cable toward the brightest ball of light.

Unlike the other faint orbs of light, the other party clearly sensed his presence and even issued a warning, but for some reason did not make a move, as if it was considering something.

Suddenly, a scream emanated from the orb representing the gene-stealing patriarch, echoing throughout the entire network. Several slightly larger points of light nearby sensed it and immediately rushed towards its location.

Something's up!

Driven by curiosity, Xiao Yi sped up.

The distance between the two sides was getting closer and closer, and the struggle of the gene-stealing patriarch was becoming more and more intense. It was unclear whether it was because it was afraid of Xiao Yi or because something in the real world was threatening its life.

After realizing that his threat could not deter the creature before him, the gene-stealing patriarch twisted his massive body and lunged at Xiao Yi.

"Hmph, breathing on people without any real strength will come at a price."

He slightly turned his body to dodge the opponent's claws that were trying to disembowel him, and then punched the opponent in the face.

Xiao Yi seemed to have forgotten that this was an internal network created by gene stealers, and that he was currently in an out-of-body state.

So when the fist touched the other person's soul, he saw a strange fragment.

Three tall warriors clad in power armor slaughtered the surrounding gene stealers with incredible efficiency, like ruthless killing machines.

Judging from the style of their power armor, these should be three Space Marines. Unfortunately, Xiao Yi didn't recognize the flame insignia on their shoulders, so he couldn't determine which chapter they belonged to.

The Horus Rebellion caused Robert Guilliman, Primarch of the Ultramarines and Regent of the Second Empire, to worry about the possibility of a repeat of the Legion's large-scale rebellion.

To prevent similar incidents from happening again, he wrote the Astartes Code, which later became known as toilet paper, and broke up the remaining original chapters of the Imperium into several thousand-man chapters.

Originally, this was just a transitional system, but because Guilliman lost a duel and was carried into the Static Field, no one dared to change the orders of an Imperial heir, so the Chapter system was retained.

As the chapters became more and more numerous, many Space Marines didn't even know who their Primarch was.

Xiao Yi only recognized the logos of a few newly formed battle groups.

Burning black flames—sorry, I have absolutely no recollection of them.

Just as Xiao Yi approached to get a closer look, a Space Marine suddenly appeared and punched him—or rather, punched the Genestealer Chieftain.

That punch knocked him offline.

"Are you alright?" Robert looked at Xiao Yi with some concern. The complicated expression on Xiao Yi's face made him feel that something bad might have happened.

Are there any Space Marine chapter headquarters nearby?

"Um?"

Robert's puzzled expression already told Xiao Yi the answer to the question, but to be on the safe side, he changed to a way that would be more acceptable to ordinary people in the empire, asking, "Are there any Imperial Angels around here?"

"no."

"Just as I thought, where did those guys come from?"

Seeing Xiao Yi deep in thought, Robert didn't dare to disturb him. He could only stand aside with the drooling prisoner and wait silently.

"With so few clues, even if I used up all my brain cells, I still wouldn't be able to figure it out. I might as well take care of the nearby gene-stealer hideouts first."

After figuring it out, Xiao Yi stood up, glanced at the silent tunnel behind him, and ordered Robert, "Send heavy troops to guard this place, and while you're at it, tear down that blasphemous statue."

"I'll arrange it right away. What should we do with him?"

"Leave it to me."

After taking the prisoner, Xiao Yi left the church directly.

At the entrance, Charles, who had come to provide support, looked at the prisoner Xiao Yi was carrying. Curious, Charles poked the bone plate on the man's head with the barrel of his gun, wanting to see how he would react.

"This is the alien we need to deal with."

The prisoner, whose soul had been damaged and rendered mentally impaired, did not put up any fierce resistance. She simply rolled her eyes slowly and gave him a disdainful look.

Seeing the other person's wise expression, Charles instantly understood everything. He said with some disappointment, "So this guy was an idiot after all?"

"It's not here to play; it's an important tool for us to find where the aliens are hiding."

"Assemble the troops, let's set off immediately and try to wipe out these damned aliens as quickly as possible."

"My troops are ready at any time, just waiting for your order."

Next, the gene stealers of the entire abandoned residential area will experience the most difficult years since they settled on this planet.
