Chapter 59 Daily Life: Sherlock's Road Trip
With Sherlock taking Doro away, Doro's idol life came to an end. Even though the agency practically begged Doro to come back when the Ancient One contacted the agency and told them the bad news, it was all in vain.
Ultimately, the Ancient One had no choice but to authorize the agency to continue operating Doro's merchandise and split the profits 50/50 with the agency.
Of course, the Ancient One wouldn't pocket the money she received; instead, she used it to improve the infrastructure of Kamar-Taj. It's likely that none of the sorcerers in Kamar-Taj ever imagined that they would one day be running a virtual idol, especially one being run in Japan.
As for Sherlock, Gu Yi had no intention of telling him. Even if Sherlock found out in the future, he would be indifferent. After all, even if Sherlock found out, given his alchemy skills, he probably wouldn't care about such "small change".
As for Sherlock, after returning to Los Angeles with Doro, it meant that his trip to Los Angeles had come to a complete end, and he and Doro could return to their peaceful daily life.
Aside from Pepper Potts being somewhat reluctant to see Sherlock leave, Tony almost wholeheartedly agreed with Sherlock returning to his life. In Tony's words, he would fight anyone who dared to disturb Sherlock!
The reason is simple: Tony was simply fed up with Sherlock's two-faced behavior in front of him and Pepper Potts.
Damn it, this is the first time in Tony's life that he has ever been so disgusted by so-called "green tea" girls.
However, it was clear that neither Pepper Potts nor Sherlock cared about this, and even though they both knew that Sherlock's "green tea" persona was a facade, neither of them pointed it out.
As for why?
It's simple, because Tony's vulnerable side is just too funny!
Both Sherlock and Pepper Potts never tire of watching Tony when he's on the defensive, and they even go out of their way to subtly provoke him.
It's hard to imagine how angry Tony would be if he knew about their unspoken understanding. Of course, neither Sherlock nor Pepper would ever tell Tony this.
After Sherlock set a departure date, the way he chose to leave truly surprised both Pepper Potts and Tony.
Instead of choosing the fastest plane, Sherlock decided to take his 6x6 Raptor pickup truck on a trip across the United States.
That's right, Sherlock is planning a classic American road trip with Doro!
After all, Sherlock has been in the present for five whole years, and he's either researching alchemy or on his way to researching alchemy. He hasn't had a chance to really see this world yet.
Now that you're out here, why not have some fun and then go home to live a peaceful life?
Moreover, now that we're here in the US, it would be a waste of time if we didn't take a standard American road trip.
Sherlock even had Jarvis prepare his strategy guide for him.
First, Sherlock will drive north towards San Francisco, and from there he will take Lincoln Highway, the first east-west highway in the United States. This highway runs from New York in the east to San Francisco in the west. If Sherlock drives in the opposite direction, it will be almost a straight line back to New York.
Not only that, but when passing through Nevada, Sherlock even made a detour to experience Route 50, which was dubbed by Life Magazine as the loneliest highway in all of the United States.
Not only is this highway sparsely populated, but most importantly, it offers the most authentic American countryside atmosphere and numerous scenic spots along the way.
Its starting point is the renowned resort destination, Lake Tahoe, and to the east lies Nevada's only national forest park, the Great Basin National Park.
There are many attractions along the way, such as Death Valley, which once appeared in textbooks, as well as many Native American tribes and former mining towns in the West.
In short, this road is brimming with American style.
Even the starting point is readily available, right on California Highway 1, where Tony's mansion is located. From Tony's house, you can simply follow the road north to San Francisco, then head to Lincoln Highway from San Francisco, and then switch to Highway 50 when you enter Nevada.
Despite Tony and Pepper's reservations, Sherlock set off without hesitation.
Although Sherlock could easily have used the Anywhere Door to go home and sleep along the way, he decided against it in order to better enjoy the road trip and instead drove on with Doro as planned.
After all, thanks to the cultural symbol of road trips, there are countless road hotels in the United States.
Sherlock wasn't worried about having nowhere to stay when night fell.
Of course, if possible, Sherlock would prefer to choose a high-end hotel like the Continental Hotel.
Ignoring Tony and Pepper's worries, Sherlock waved goodbye to Doro and embarked on his journey home.
To be honest, the scenery in the US is truly unparalleled, at least on California Highway 1 from Sherlock to San Francisco.
Compared to the well-developed commercialization in China, the vast land and sparse population of the United States have resulted in a less sophisticated commercialization, thus preserving its most primal and untamed beauty.
In addition, California Highway 1 is a coastal road, so Sherlock and Doro sang songs and chatted in the car, watching the sunset and sunrise, heading straight for their destination, San Francisco.
Of course, Sherlock, the owner of the well-established American road hotel, also experienced Doro's style.
But after just one experience, Sherlock vowed he would never live in such a shabby place again, and he understood why Tony and Pepper had shown concern about the road trip.
It's very simple, because these kinds of roadside hotels are almost never very clean!
Wanting to be as clean, serene, and elegant as hotels in mainland China is just wishful thinking!
More importantly, the soundproofing of such roadside hotels is usually very poor. In addition, these places often attract girls who can't afford clothes. As a result, when night falls, the snoring and cursing caused Sherlock and Doro to check out and leave before sunrise the next day.
After this experience, Sherlock was no longer fascinated by the so-called road hotels in the movies. He drove to San Francisco overnight and stayed at the Continental Hotel for three whole days, giving his 6x6 Raptor a complete alchemical makeover.
Putting aside the powertrain, Sherlock's most significant modification was the transformation of the interior space.
They practically transformed the Raptor into a campervan with "three bedrooms and two living rooms" while keeping its appearance unchanged, before taking Doro back on the road trip.
