Marvel: The Alchemist Just Wants a Peaceful Life.

Chapter 3: Trump Cards and Artifacts

The reason why Sherlock was so vulnerable is quite simple. After all, before he transmigrated, he was just an ordinary person. Even after he gained extraordinary powers, he only wanted to live his own simple life.

But the Ancient One's meaning was quite clear: the future seemed to be inextricably linked to Sherlock!

How is that possible? You have to understand that in the five years since he transmigrated to the present, after gaining superhuman powers, Sherlock has never had the slightest thought of acting like a superhero and upholding justice.

Sherlock almost subconsciously wanted to refuse the Ancient One's final act of becoming the Riddler, but the Time Stone in the Ancient One's hand made Sherlock unsure of what to do.

In Sherlock's memory, the only connection he could barely make with the Avengers, aside from the Ancient One, Marvel's most famous "boiled egg," was that his parents, who had long since passed away, were high-ranking employees of Stark Industries.

However, given that his parents were in a period when Tony had just taken over the reins of this behemoth after the passing of old Stark, Sherlock simply did not believe that his parents could have any relationship with Tony.

They couldn't believe that the playboy on TV, who was obsessed with Playboy cover girls every day, would pay attention to their former employee's child, who had died in a plane crash during a business trip, even though the child was considered an extremely precious treasure to the couple, born late in life.

Sherlock had been pointing at the spot where the Ancient One had disappeared and cursing for ages, but the portal's light didn't reappear. Feeling somewhat bored, Sherlock pursed his lips and sighed helplessly, then turned his attention back to the Spear of St. Longinus.

After all, the Ancient One made it clear that if this artifact could be repaired, it would be hers!

To be honest, Sherlock would much rather stay at home, quietly drinking coffee and studying alchemy and various artifacts than become a superhero and save the world.

Sherlock expressed no interest in professions described as superheroes, scapegoats, or high-ranking, prestigious beasts of burden.

As for that snap that would affect the entire universe in the near future?

Sherlock thought that if the sky were to fall, the tall ones would hold it up; what did it have to do with him, a mere alchemist? Besides, Sherlock didn't believe he would really be affected by the so-called Infinity Stones and turned to ashes.

Thinking of this, Sherlock subconsciously touched his left eye. Only Sherlock himself knew that beneath that prosthetic eye was a blood-red stone, which was also Sherlock's reliance for struggling to survive in this dangerous Marvel world.

The Philosopher's Stone, the highest achievement in alchemy, can disregard any rules and grant any wish!

What's more, this Philosopher's Stone of his is the kind that won't be consumed in any way. This thing appeared before him along with the alchemical spellbook when he transmigrated.

For Sherlock, if there truly is such a thing as destiny, he believes he can use the Philosopher's Stone he has hidden and his alchemy to tear apart that so-called destiny.

No one can disturb my peaceful life! No one!

Having vented his frustrations, Sherlock began to carefully examine the artifact before him using alchemy.

The more Sherlock examined it, the more he felt that Kamar-Taj had a profound foundation. The so-called Spear of St. Longinus in front of him was less of a 'weapon' and more of a 'staff' in essence!

That's right, it's the magic wand in the wizard's hand, which is very similar to the wand in Gandalf's hand in the movie that lit up the light spell.

However, compared to Gandalf's staff, which could only be used as a blunt weapon, the staff in front of him was undoubtedly far superior in both ability and attack power.

According to Sherlock's understanding, the most basic function of this staff should be called "magnification" or "sublimation".

To give a simple example, take Sherlock's alchemy. As we all know, alchemy cannot be activated without a transmutation circle, but an alchemist who has seen the truth can simplify the transmutation circle into a single circle.

That is, the gesture of the protagonist in Fullmetal Alchemist putting his hands together, which is already the simplest "alchemy circle" in alchemy.

However, the power of the Spear of St. Longinus before him could further simplify Sherlock's alchemy, turning it from a "circle" into a "point".

To put it simply, you only need to touch the Spear of Longinus to activate alchemy directly, saving you the 'circle drawing' process.

Moreover, judging from Sherlock's current level, the power of the Spear of St. Longinus is far more than that. According to the inscriptions remaining on the spear, it is very likely that this artifact can even perform alchemy remotely under extreme conditions!

Putting everything else aside, this ability alone is enough to live up to its reputation as a divine artifact.

As for the remaining functions such as following, floating, flying, recognizing a master, and recalling, they are not as amazing as this most important ability.

Of course, this was Sherlock's guess of the functions in its perfect state based on the runes remaining on the spear. Now that the Spear of St. Longinus is damaged, only the function of levitation remains.

"So this thing is just an enhanced staff version of Sherlock Holmes's flight cloak?"

Sherlock looked at the Spear of St. Longinus on the table with a look of surprise, and even felt that it would be a little dishonest if he really took this thing from the Ancient One.

However, Sherlock quickly put the idea out of his mind, since the allure of this artifact was undoubtedly immense for an alchemist.

"Well, let's just consider it the rental fee that the Ancient One earned by borrowing Doro!"

After convincing himself with such a flimsy excuse with utter insincerity, Sherlock lightly stroked his left arm with his right hand, and his left arm, which had looked perfectly normal, was instantly torn to pieces.

What was originally an ordinary flesh and blood arm has instantly transformed into a mechanical arm that extends with countless tools and weapons, which looks somewhat like Rick's style.

However, Rick's arm is probably all about scientific mechanics, while Sherlock's arm is a genuine alchemical product, with every component inside being something that can be used in alchemy.

Sherlock, like a lecherous wolf spotting a beautiful woman, grinned wickedly as he walked toward the Spear of St. Longinus on the table. He was determined to repair this divine artifact that would greatly benefit him!
