FATE: Target of Grand Master

Chapter 104 The Whereabouts of the Ark of the Covenant

After giving Orion a good "lesson," Artemis finally regained her original smile, and Xia Yan was able to continue the conversation.

"Could you tell me about what you've been through in this world so far?"

"Sure."

Artemis recounted their entire experience in the mortal realm, big and small, as if pouring beans from a bamboo tube. Orion would occasionally complain, "She's so long-winded!" At these times, Artemis would reply, "Hey? I clearly see this mortal realm as a rare honeymoon trip for Darling and me, so of course I want to record everything in detail!"

Since the two people, who could be considered lovers, had talked far too much nonsense, Xia Yan could only sift through the mess to extract the limited useful information and compile it.

In short, after the human and god appeared in the world and realized their awkward situation, they did not run around aimlessly, but instead hid their whereabouts. Then they discovered a ship they had never seen before on the island where they had appeared. On the ship were a woman and two Servants, a man and a woman.

The male servant was also dressed as a captain, while the female servant was a short, white-haired girl. Due to the distance, Artemis and Orion did not have more detailed information.

The female Master and her two Servants circled the island, found nothing, and then left.

After that, Artemis and Orion traveled between several islands, and thanks to their ability to fly, they were not attacked. However, during this process, they did notice two Heroic Spirits on a certain small island.

They were, respectively, one of the crew members of the Argo, Atalanta, the huntress from Greek mythology, and David, the king of ancient Israel.

After the two Servants communicated with Artemis and Orion, David handed them a chest made of acacia wood that was covered inside and out with gold, and instructed them to hide it in a place where no one could find it.

Artemis and Orion did as they were told, and when they returned after hiding the cabinet, they found that a fierce battle had taken place on the island.

By observing the traces of the battle afterward, Orion concluded that it was Hercules who fought it. Therefore, it is highly likely that Atalanta and David, whose fates were unknown, were taken away or killed by Jason and his men.

Today, they sensed that many spirit origins had gathered on the island and that a fierce battle had broken out. Artemis wanted to come and see, but Orion kept advising the moon goddess to observe the situation first and then appear when things became clearer.

Artemis, who had been observing the battle from the sidelines, saw Xia Yan jump into the sea to save Euryale and concluded that he was a good person. So, when she saw that Xia Yan and the others were powerless against Heracles, she finally appeared and helped them.

"In short, that's roughly the situation."

Originally, Xia Yan, Morgan, Cú Chulainn, and Drake were sitting on the beach listening to Artemis and Orion talk, but by the end, only Xia Yan was left.

Cú Chulainn was the first to say he couldn't stand it anymore and got up to patrol the island.

After listening for a while, Drake also expressed his headache and focused his attention on repairing the damaged "Golden Deer".

Even Morgan, who always prided himself on being a thinker, couldn't stand their rambling and disappeared in spirit form after listening to half of it.

Therefore, the heavy responsibility of collecting and summarizing intelligence fell on Xia Yan's shoulders alone.

After summarizing the useful information, Xia Yan rubbed his temples, let out a long breath, and couldn't help but sigh, "If only I had a true intellectual servant."

Don't misunderstand, Xia Yan had no doubt that His Majesty Morgan was a brainiac.

Not at all!

Yes! Not at all!

"So, where have you hidden the ark of the covenant that David gave you?"

Xia Yan breathed a sigh of relief upon learning that the Ark of the Covenant had not fallen into the hands of Jason and his men.

If Jason and his group were to collect Euryale and the Ark of the Covenant, Xia Yan might not even see the sun rise tomorrow.

"Where did you hide it, darling? Do you remember?"

Artemis looked at Orion, the little bear beside her.

"I don't remember. We just randomly found a deep-sea area and threw the cabinet into the sea."

Orion shrugged.

"Huh? No, you just threw away something so important like that?"

Xia Yan gained a new understanding of just how unreliable this pair of clowns were.

"Don't rush, human."

Artemis, still grinning, said, "Since none of us remember where we hid it, then no one else can possibly know, right?"

Xia Yan pondered Artemis's words, and to be honest, there was some truth to what the goddess said.

Since the Ark of the Covenant cannot be materialized or destroyed, and can only be hidden, throwing it into the deep seabed where no one knows it is indeed a good idea.

Even if the enemy used torture or memory-reading methods, they could not obtain useful information, which may be why King David entrusted the Ark of the Covenant to them.

But what if the other party has a tool with detection capabilities?

No, that's basically impossible too.

Not to mention that accurate exploration certainly requires sufficient familiarity and understanding of the target, apart from Israelite kings like David and Solomon who had close contact with the Ark of the Covenant, most people had never even seen what the Ark of the Covenant looked like, let alone explored it.

If it were truly possible to investigate, Jason would have done so long ago. Since they haven't obtained the Ark of the Covenant yet, it means they lack the ability to investigate accurately.

Having figured out the deeper meaning behind Orion and Artemis's "brainless" behavior, Xia Yan's anxiety about Euryale being taken away was somewhat relieved.

"Speaking of which, Xia Yan, why do you possess a faint trace of divinity?" Artemis asked.

Xia Yan then told Artemis about the blessing bestowed by the nymph.

"I see."

Artemis rested her slender fingers on her chin, seemingly deep in thought.

It was only then that Xia Yan realized it was getting late and it was time to eat something to replenish his energy.

Although the monster meat has been rendered harmless and the taste is only so-so, it is still better than compressed canned food if the priority is to fill one's stomach.

During the meal, Drake was still troubled by the repair problems of the "Golden Deer".

The trees on the nearby islands are of very poor quality. Although they can be used for repairs, this level of repair is not enough to withstand the ravages of Servants fighting each other.

Based on his understanding of the original plot, Xia Yan asked Artemis, "Moon Goddess, have you seen any creatures similar to wyverns before?"

"Hmm, I feel like I've seen this before, but where was it again?"

Artemis looked up, appearing thoughtful.

"It's on an island not far from here. Didn't I tell you not to go shooting those dragons for fun? If you alert the big guys on the island, things will get complicated."

Hearing their answers, Xia Yan's eyes lit up. These were ready-made materials for ship repair!

It's time to show off the skills of a veteran Monster Hunter player.
