F1: In Ferrari, Schumacher at the start.

Chapter 64 Red Flags Flying Wildly

On a Sunday afternoon in Monte Carlo, the sun shines down on the shimmering Mediterranean port.

The party on the deck of the luxury yacht had already begun; champagne bubbles danced in the sea breeze, and the air was filled with the sweet smell of money.

On the track, twenty F1 cars stood silently in their starting grids. The roar of their engines had not yet erupted, but the atmosphere in the paddock was already boiling over.

Sky Sports' broadcast signal switched on time.

"Welcome to the annual crown jewel of motorsport – the Monaco Grand Prix, motorsport worldwide!" David Croft's booming voice echoed in the broadcast studio. "Today is not only a battleground for drivers, but also a top-tier gathering of global celebrities. The director understands our desires perfectly, as the pre-race footage shows the pit lanes of each team. Let's take a look at today's 'paddock Wives' lineup!"

Screen switch.

In the Ferrari pit lane, Charles Leclerc's girlfriend Alexandra was chatting and laughing with several socialites; in the Red Bull camp, Max Verstappen's girlfriend Kelly Piquet was wearing sunglasses and exuding a powerful aura.

The camera then panned across Mercedes and Alpine, with George Russell's girlfriend Carmen and Pierre Gasly's girlfriend Kika making stunning appearances.

In the Aston Martin rest area, Lance Stoll's girlfriend, Marylou, also waved gracefully at the camera.

Finally, the broadcast focused steadily on the Williams team's rest area.

Gu Ailing was wearing a fitted white short-sleeved shirt and light blue denim shorts, staring intently at the big screen with a serious expression.

"Oh! Look who we found in Williams' pit lane!" Croft immediately raised his voice, "Olympic champion Eileen Gu! Without a doubt, she's here today specifically to support Williams driver Lin Feng. This golden couple of sports has been dominating global sports headlines lately! It seems the power of love has allowed Lin Feng to miraculously break into Q3 on this track, which isn't his forte!"

Martin Brendel, standing nearby, added with a laugh, "Indeed, the commercial value of this duo is simply immeasurable."

The scene didn't linger for long before quickly switching to the Mercedes P room.

The camera zoomed in on Mercedes team manager Toto Wolff, who stood with his arms crossed and a somber expression.

Croft immediately shifted his focus to the latest explosive rumors circulating in the paddock.

"Speaking of Lin Feng, we can't help but mention a rumor that's been circulating wildly in the paddock this weekend. Reliable sources claim that Toto Wolff has privately contacted Lin Feng's management team. As we all know, Lewis Hamilton will be moving to Ferrari next year, leaving a Mercedes seat vacant. Toto is clearly eager to sign this young rookie who has shone in recent races. If this deal goes through, it will be a major earthquake in the driver market next year!"

The tire warm-up session ended at 3:00 PM.

The pursuing car came to a stop at the back of the convoy, and the red lights above the track began to light up one by one.

Lin Feng stopped at the eighth starting grid, gripping the steering wheel tightly with both hands and staring intently at the traffic lights above.

One lamp, two lamps, three lamps, four lamps, five lamps.

Five red lights went out!

The Monaco Grand Prix has officially begun!

Twenty race cars simultaneously released their clutches, the roar of their engines echoing deafeningly between the buildings on both sides of the narrow street.

Lin Feng's start was very steady.

James' pre-race tactical instructions echoed in his mind: absolutely no risks on the first lap.

He navigated Turn 1 at St. De Vaux smoothly, sticking close to Hamilton's rear, leaving no room for Hiroki Tsunoda to turn around.

However, just as the race cars in front had passed the uphill section, an accident suddenly broke out in the line of cars behind!

"Oh my god! There's been a collision! A major accident!" Croft screamed from the commentary booth.

The broadcast instantly switched to the vicinity of the uphill Masne Bend.

It turns out that Haas driver Kevin Magnussen squeezed Red Bull's Perez from the outside when there was absolutely no gap.

The Red Bull race car's right rear wheel was directly hit, causing the car to lose control on the spot. It spun violently like a top on the narrow track before crashing heavily into the steel guardrail at a speed of 200 kilometers per hour!

The deafening sound of metal tearing apart shook the heavens and the earth; fragments flew everywhere like hailstones.

Hulkenberg, who was following behind, couldn't dodge in time and crashed head-on into the car, instantly blocking the track with all three cars.

Perez's RB20 was completely wrecked; all four wheels were gone, the car body was disintegrated, leaving only a bare cabin that looked like a rotten bathtub.

"Red flag! The race has been turned on red!" Brendel shouted. "It's horrific! All those cars are destroyed. I hope the drivers are alright!"

Ahead, in a safe area, Lin Feng had received a radio call from the convoy.

"Red Flag, Lin, Red Flag. The track is blocked, slow down and get back to the pit lane." Paul's voice sounded somewhat frightened.

"Roger that. I just saw in the rearview mirror that the debris flew more than three meters high. Are those guys bowling in the back?" Lin Feng complained over the radio.

"Magnussen and Perez collided, and Hulkenberg was also involved. All three of them are now out of the race."

"What a bunch of lunatics." Lin Feng shook his head and slowly drove the race car back to the maintenance area.

After a 40-minute track clearing and guardrail repair, the green flag was waved and the race finally resumed.

The remaining cars returned to their starting grids and started again.

The characteristics of the Monaco racetrack mean that what follows will most likely be a long train tour.

Lin Feng patiently controlled the lap time like an emotionless metronome, preventing Hamilton from getting too far ahead and giving Kakuta a chance to catch up.

Before they had run many laps, the broadcast cameras caught another hilarious moment.

At Portière Bend before entering the tunnel, the two Alpine team drivers, who were ranked eleventh and twelfth, actually had a fight!

At a corner where overtaking was impossible, Ocon, taking advantage of his inside position, braked late and rudely shoved the front of the car next to his teammate Gasly.

Gasly never expected his teammate to carry out a suicide attack in such a place; the two pink and blue race cars collided with a loud bang.

Ocon's right front wheel straddled Gasly's left front wheel, sending the race car flying half a meter into the air before crashing heavily to the ground. The suspension broke instantly, and the car broke down completely.

Gasly's chassis was damaged, but he could still drive forward with difficulty.

"What are they doing?! The Alpine civil war has broken out again!" Croft was utterly stunned. "Ocon dropped out, and Gasly survived!"

On the radio, Gasly unleashed a long string of French profanities, which was immediately censored by the organizers: "Is he out of his mind?! That's one of our own! What right does he have to talk back to me?!"

On the other side, Aokang stubbornly insisted, "He closed the door too early! My car was already inside!"

The annual family drama of the French racing team has provided a thoroughly entertaining spectacle for onlookers worldwide.

The match has entered its middle stage.

To move up the field in Monaco, overtaking on the track is basically a pipe dream; the only option is pit stop strategy.

On lap 50, Hamilton, who was in seventh place, was the first to pit due to tire wear.

The opportunity is coming!

"Lin, Lewis's pitted!" Paul yelled over the radio. "You're in clean air now. Two laps, floor it! We're going to try an overcut!"

"Got it. Watch this."

Lin Feng didn't hesitate at all. Although the old tires were slipping like he was walking on soap in the corners, he managed to set two fastest lap records by relying on exaggerated muscle memory and counter-steering.

After two laps, Lin Feng plunged into the maintenance area.

Williams' technicians performed the operation flawlessly, in just 2.2 seconds!

As Lin Feng changed into brand new hard tires and drove out of the pit lane, crossing the exit white line, Hamilton's car came rushing in from the main straight.

The two cars are side by side before the St. De Vault bend!

Lin Feng, with his inside advantage, stepped on the gas and kept Hamilton firmly behind him!

"Well done! A brilliant breakthrough! P7!"

When good luck comes, you can't stop it.

On lap 65, the Aston Martin in sixth place suddenly slowed down on the track, with a plume of white smoke coming out of its tail.

Veteran driver Alonso sighed helplessly on the radio, reporting a gearbox synchronizer failure and having to park the car in the escape lane of the buffer zone.

With Alonso's withdrawal, Lin Feng's ranking naturally moved up one place.

P6!

Behind the Mercedes team's command wall.

Toto Wolff, wearing a white shirt and headphones, stared intently at the data screen in front of him.

On the screen, Lin Feng's lap time and tire wear data are being updated in real time.

Standing next to Toto, the team's youth academy director, Gwen Lagru, lowered her voice and asked, "Boss, are we really going to go all out to get that Chinese kid? The board has been urging us to promote Kimi Antonelli. Kimi is only seventeen, and he's been outstanding in the youth academy. He's one of our own."

Toto picked up the bottled water on the table, took a sip, and did not answer immediately.

He stared at Lin Feng's incredibly consistent lap times on the screen. On a track like Monaco, where mistakes are easy to make, Lin Feng hadn't even locked up his tires once.

"Kimi is a rare talent. He's young and very fast," Toto said calmly, putting down his water bottle. "But he still needs time to grow and adapt to the brutality of F1. After Lewis left, we need a tough guy who can immediately stand in the front row and go toe-to-toe with Max."

Gwen frowned. "Do you think Lin is suitable?"

"Look at his debut in Jeddah, look at his outside shooting overtaking in Shanghai." Toto turned his head, his deep eyes gleaming with a businessman's shrewdness and a hunger for victory. "He has a real killer instinct. He's not afraid of anyone. More importantly..."

Toto glanced at the close-up shot of Gu Ailing on the broadcast screen and a meaningful smile appeared on his face.

"He can bring enormous commercial value and entirely new markets to the team. In this paddock, speed determines the upper limit, and commercial success determines the lower limit. Lin is the perfect balance. Tell the public relations department to continue to maintain an ambiguous attitude towards the outside world and put pressure on Williams."

"Understood, boss."

Lin Feng, on the track, was completely unaware that he was being plotted against by a powerful figure.

His attention was now entirely focused on the indicator lights on the steering wheel and the rear spoiler in front.

The final twenty laps in Monaco saw Lin Feng reach his peak physical exertion. Although the car wasn't going fast, the frequent gear changes and precise steering left Lin Feng's arms aching terribly.

"Lin, five laps to go. Lewis is close behind you, less than a second behind," Paul reminded him.

"Let him chase me. On this runaway street, as long as I don't give way, even if he's driving a rocket, he can only smell my exhaust fumes from behind." Lin Feng panted heavily, but his hands didn't falter at all.

Hamilton was frantic behind him, but there was nothing he could do. Lin Feng's defensive positioning was textbook perfect; he firmly blocked the inside line at every turn, leaving no opening for a breakthrough.

The race has entered its final lap.

Leclerc led the race all the way, finally breaking the home curse and crossing the finish line first to win the long-awaited Monaco Grand Prix.

Ferrari fans in the stadium went wild with excitement, and the sound of car horns filled the air.

Following closely behind are Piastri, Sainz, Norris, and Russell.

"Lin Feng has entered the Anthony Norges corner! This is the last corner!" Croft's voice was full of passion.

The dark blue Williams race car smoothly drove out of the corner and accelerated toward the main straight.

The black and white checkered flag is waving.

"Cross the finish line! Lin Feng has secured sixth place! P6!" Croft announced loudly. "In a chaotic race, this young Chinese talent displayed a maturity and composure beyond his years! Driving a car ill-suited for Monaco, he single-handedly brought home eight valuable points! This is absolutely a masterful defensive performance!"

The moment the car crossed the finish line, Paul shouted excitedly over the radio: "Well done, Lin! P6! Perfect race! These 8 points are so important for the team!"

Lin Feng relaxed his tense shoulders and let out a long breath. He slowed down the car and listened to the cheers of the audience around him.

"Time to go home, guys. This damn track is killing my neck."

Williams' race car slowly entered the return lap in the afterglow of the setting sun.
