Transcending Worlds: I Have an Invincible Shelter
Chapter 35: Friendship
The Land Rover continued its journey, quickly passing through downtown Dubai and arriving at a manor in the desert.
Su Yuyang stood in the night outside the manor, staring at the Land Rover, and then carefully observed the desert manor in front of him.
There was only one thought in my mind: to be big enough.
His figure flashed again, leaving only a black arc of electricity as a residual image behind him. He quickly arrived at the foot of a courtyard wall.
Looking around and listening to the sounds in the wind, confirming that no one was inside the wall, a blur of motion instantly leaped over the wall and entered the courtyard.
After the Land Rover entered the estate, a black man got out of the car and started cursing into his phone, completely unaware that someone was following him.
Upon entering the building, a dozen or so people were already seated in the lobby. As the black man strode in, a white-haired Arab man sitting to the left decisively pulled the trigger.
"Bang~bang~bang~" Three shots were fired in quick succession. The black man jumped up and down, sparks flying from his feet as the bullets pierced the marble slab.
The Black man was terrified at the sight, cold sweat beading on his forehead. He looked up at the person who had fired the shot and cursed.
"Audi, you lunatic, I'm off to rescue your brother."
"Was the person rescued?"
The white-haired man, Audi, knew that the black man had failed and had not brought back their leader when he walked out of the police station.
The Black man's face was extremely grim. He glanced at the other people in the hall and shrugged helplessly. "Alpha was caught on the spot. I've already made an appointment with Chief Pike, and I expect to hear good news soon."
Upon hearing this, the anger on the faces of the other dozen or so people in the hall subsided slightly, and their displeasure at the black man finally softened a little.
"You know, Dubai is a place that upholds the rule of law."
As a lawyer, the Black man reminded everyone in the room that getting help for their older brother wouldn't be so easy.
"Go to hell!" Another Arab man decisively raised his gun and opened fire on the door. Fortunately, the black man fell to the ground as he tried to explain.
"If you can't save the boss, it's because you're incompetent! And you still dare to argue?"
"Enough!" A middle-aged man sitting in the main seat slammed the ashtray next to him onto the ground and shouted angrily.
"I've gathered everyone here tonight to discuss how to save Alpha!"
The middle-aged man's brown eyes swept fiercely over everyone present, all of whom were direct descendants of the Bakhlul family.
"Uncle, it must have been the Balkans!" Another burly man exhaled smoke from his nose and asserted, "We just finished an arms deal with them, and my brother was immediately targeted by the police. It was definitely them."
The brown-eyed man ignored his nephew's guess and looked at the others with an unfriendly gaze.
"We can't afford to panic after Alpha was captured."
Meeting those hawk-like, cold eyes, everyone in the hall instinctively shrank back, quietly waiting for the other party's instructions.
"Since we've already arranged to meet with Chief Pike of the Security Bureau, let's meet him first. As for Balkan and the others, just have someone keep an eye on them. At this point, let's avoid any further complications."
Just as the brown-eyed man was about to tell everyone to go down and rest, footsteps suddenly came from outside the door, causing everyone in the hall to look at the two guards outside the door with surprised expressions.
Audi gave one of the guards a wink, and the man immediately hurried toward the direction from which the sound came.
Shortly after, a gunshot rang out, and the guard who had been sent out flew back, a large amount of blood spurting from the back of his head.
The people in the hall immediately pulled out various guns from under their clothes, and all the gun barrels were immediately pointed at the entrance of the hall.
This scene terrified the black man, who crawled on all fours on the ground like a turtle, swimming towards a corner of the hall.
Just as the Black man had half his body out of the room, a series of gunshots rang out, "Bang bang bang~ bang bang bang~ bang bang bang~".
The black man's pants were immediately soaked, and a strong smell of urine filled the lobby entrance.
As Su Yuyang appeared at the entrance of the hall in a white robe adorned with gold ornaments, he was greeted by a hail of bullets.
His figure flashed, leaving only streaks of black electric arcs in the doorway.
With the talent [Lightning Flash], Su Yuyang's speed far exceeded 3 seconds to break 100. With his left and right dodges, none of the bullets even touched his robes.
Thousands of bullets struck the white wall behind Su Yuyang's figure, creating large gaps. Su Yuyang walked into the hall unhurriedly, leaving the core members of Bakhluer's leadership in the hall dumbfounded, hardly believing their eyes.
Are you Korean?
The brown-eyed man looked at the tall figure whose only visible feature was an Asian face beneath the white robe, and asked in broken Korean,
"I am Japanese." Hearing the other person's trembling voice, Su Yuyang replied in fluent Mandarin.
"Japanese?" the brown-eyed man asked instinctively, this time in Japanese.
"Damn it!" Su Yuyang cursed, his figure flashing again as he appeared directly in front of the brown-eyed man, looking down at him from above.
He said in a deep, angry voice, "Why all this nonsense!"
The others only saw a blur flash by, leaving behind only a black arc of electricity.
At that moment, they even wondered if they were already dead, otherwise how could they have witnessed such a scene?
Although he couldn't understand what Su Yuyang was saying, the brown-eyed man knew that the person in front of him was obviously very angry. He stammered for a moment, not knowing what to say.
On the left side of the hall, the white-haired man, Audi, looked at the black man who was pretending to be dead and gritted his teeth.
"Henry! Translate quickly!"
Henry, the Black lawyer, only realized he wasn't dead when someone called his name. He had been terrified when a bullet grazed his back.
At that moment, when the gunfire stopped, he snapped out of his daze, hurriedly raised his hands, and crouched down to look at the hall.
All the people in Bachlour were looking in one direction. Henry followed their gaze and saw a figure in a white robe.
Henry hurriedly greeted him in broken Chinese.
"Sir, I am a legitimate lawyer. I only provide legal services and would never do anything illegal."
Not knowing whether the white-robed man before him was an enemy of Bachlul, Henry's first priority was to distance himself from the situation.
"Not bad, he's also quite fluent in foreign languages."
Without turning his head, Su Yuyang easily snatched the pistol from the brown-eyed man's hand before he could react.
He turned it around, thinking about how to use it. However, there were more important things to do right now.
He turned around, casually sat down on the sofa to one side, stretched comfortably, and wondered if he should pack up everything in the hall later.
Su Yuyang twirled his pistol, while the other core members of Bakhluer in the hall put down their guns, afraid of being misunderstood by the mysterious white-robed man in front of them.
Only Henry, the black man, remained squatting on the ground, forcing a pale smile. He was already tall, so squatting for the time being was fine, but if he stayed there for too long, his body would eventually cramp and go numb.
The brown-eyed man subconsciously shifted his position, hoping to get a little further away from Su Yuyang.
Su Yuyang paid no attention to the subtle movements of the people in the hall, and instead looked at Henry, the black man squatting on the ground, and said slowly.
"Henry, right? I have something I need their help with, a small favor."
Henry squatted on the ground, his gentle smile still on his face, and relayed Su Yuyang's message to everyone.
"A small favor?"
Everyone, including the brown-eyed man, looked at Su Yuyang with strange eyes, their lips twitching involuntarily.
They had countless speculations about this mysterious person who had suddenly appeared, wondering which country had developed this superhuman.
More than ten people, firing more than ten guns continuously, were unable to touch the other side at all.
"I need to legally convert a sum of gold into US dollars. I just don't know if you have any channels for doing so."
Su Yuyang's dark eyes were full of smiles as he slowly looked at everyone in the hall.
Upon hearing Su Yuyang's request, all of Bakhlul's core members breathed a sigh of relief. As long as they weren't killed, smuggling gold was a minor matter.
Before the brown-eyed man could speak, Audi, the white-haired man who was very close to the black man Henry, decisively spoke first.
"Sir, Audi is happy to assist you."
Henry, a Black man, squatted on the ground and glanced at Audi. He had a sense of déjà vu, as if he were seeing a ghost. He had never thought that Audi was so polite, or even a little humble, before.
Henry glanced at the white-haired Audi, then at the others in the hall. Before anyone could speak, Su Yuyang's gaze made him hesitate, and he quickly translated Audi's meaning.
"He's still a pretty ambitious person."
Su Yuyang chuckled and turned to look at the others in the hall. "There's a bit too much gold. I'm afraid one Audi isn't enough for one person."
Upon hearing this, everyone relaxed, fearing that the mysterious man in white robes would leave Audi alone.
At this moment, as everyone breathed a sigh of relief, they all subconsciously looked at the white-haired Audi, a hint of annoyance in their eyes.
Su Yuyang tapped the table beside him lightly with the butt of his rifle, drawing everyone's attention once again, and continued to give instructions.
"Remember, I want clean money. As for the trouble you're in, I'll help you resolve it. Of course, I won't do any work; you'll need to investigate that yourself."
Upon receiving this assurance, the brown-eyed man's face lit up with joy, and so did the other core members of Bakhlul.
"Thank you, sir! We certainly won't let you down."
They were just racking their brains about how to rescue their boss and how to deal with other local forces in Dubai.
With this mysterious gentleman by their side, there's no longer any need to worry about Bahru being attacked from both sides and facing the risk of being expelled from Dubai.
Su Yuyang had finally found a distribution channel, and of course he didn't want these people to be dealt with by the hostile forces so quickly.
"That's good. After you convert the gold into US dollars, deposit it into my Swiss bank account."
"As for the gold, I've already placed it on the second floor of the hall. Remember, my gold isn't so easy to take. If anyone steals my gold, the consequences..."
Su Yuyang didn't continue speaking. Instead, his figure flashed and he appeared directly in front of the Arab man opposite the white-haired man's Audi, smashing the phone under his clothes with a punch.
With a "crack," the Arab man was horrified, his eyes filled with disbelief. He never imagined that this mysterious man in white robes would attack him in public.
He's Alpha's younger brother.
Su Yuyang's sudden killing spree immediately caused panic, and everyone in the hall stood up to flee.
"Whoever moves, dies!"
Upon hearing Henry's translation, those who had just stood up sat back down in fear, looking at Su Yuyang's back with eyes full of dread.
Su Yuyang slowly pulled out the phone that was embedded in the other person's chest, waved the blood-stained phone in front of everyone, and warned in a cold tone.
"I don't like people filming me, and I can't take photos either."
Then, Su Yuyang waved his hand, indicating that everyone could go upstairs to get to work.
Soon, servants cleared the bodies out of the hall, and the brown-eyed man and the white-haired Audi, along with twelve others, went up to the second floor, leaving only the black man Henry and Su Yuyang in the hall.
Su Yuyang pointed to the spot in front of him and waved to Henry, the black man, indicating that Henry should sit closer.
When only the two of them remained in the hall, Su Yuyang gave the direct instructions.
"I need you to help me open a Swiss bank account, tomorrow, is that alright?"
"No, no problem."
Henry forced a bright smile, behaving with unusual respect. As a senior legal advisor to the Bahrull gang, he knew all too well how ruthless the Bahrulls were.
Su Yuyang nodded in satisfaction, then waved to signal that the other party could go and prepare.
On the second floor of the manor, Bakhlul's eleven core members finally relaxed as soon as they arrived at the second-floor corridor.
Many of them glanced at the lobby on the first floor, having various speculations about the mysterious man in white robes, but they had no choice but to follow his instructions.
"I just don't know how much gold there is. If it's too little, it won't be enough for me to handle alone."
The white-haired Audi arrived first beside the brown-eyed man and asked curiously.
The others were also curious, and when they appeared in the corridor and saw the gold on the ground, their breathing became heavier.
Regardless of the purity of the gold, the sheer quantity was enough to intimidate them.
Looking at the gold in the corridor, it seemed to weigh at least a hundred kilograms. Even the brown-eyed man, who was Bakhlul's second-in-command, had to breathe more heavily at this moment.
"Remember, never do anything stupid again!"
The sheer audacity of the mysterious white-robed man's ability to silently place one hundred kilograms of gold in their Bakhlul desert estate speaks volumes about his extraordinary capabilities.
The death of a key executive can only be attributed to the stupidity of the other party.
"Contact your men now and dispose of this gold quickly. From now on, whatever that gentleman orders must be given the highest priority."
The brown-eyed man glanced back at the eleven people behind him, then picked up his phone to give instructions to his men.
Not only him, but everyone else in the corridor began contacting their subordinates, wanting to help the mysterious white-robed gentleman dispose of the gold as quickly as possible.
Overnight, with Su Yuyang listening, four or five cars arrived and took away all the gold in the second-floor corridor.
However, these senior executives of Bakhlul did not leave; some even went to rest in guest rooms on other floors.
"At least they know what's good for them."
Su Yuyang thought to himself, and even thought that if anyone dared to leave without permission, he wouldn't mind killing a few more people.
Since they were all gangsters anyway, he didn't hold back at all when he started attacking.
After a night, Su Yuyang had breakfast at the desert estate, got into Henry's Land Rover, and headed towards downtown Dubai.
After a night's rest, Su Yuyang had heard a great deal of information, including the addresses of these high-ranking individuals and even the addresses of several of their mistresses.
The brown-eyed man, Audi, and the others were unaware that they no longer held any secrets from Su Yuyang.
And so they watched as Su Yuyang swaggered into Henry's Land Rover and sped away from the desert estate.
"Uncle, is he really that careless? Aren't you worried we'll steal his gold?"
A middle-aged man stroked his stubble, his eyes bloodshot, as the Land Rover drove out of the manor and headed straight onto the coastal highway.
The brown-eyed man glanced at his meticulous nephew beside him and shook his head.
"I don't know either, but if you don't want to die like Harry, you'd better not try it."
Thinking of Harry's death, the middle-aged man's hand, which was stroking his stubble, froze in mid-air. He hadn't slept all night, just trying to contact his men and figure out how to escape the clutches of the mysterious white-robed man.
Unexpectedly, the other party left on their own early in the morning.
"Although I don't know what methods they have, I have a feeling that even if we leave Dubai, we may not be able to escape."
The brown-eyed man finished his milk, gently patted his nephew's bottom, and gave him a meaningful look.
"Again? Let's not."
Last night, his men almost heard his embarrassing voice, and he was even questioned by them.
"Boss, are you injured?"
Su Yuyang didn't care what the gang leaders in the desert manor thought; he just wanted them to do what he was told.
At that moment, he was admiring the scenery along the way. Through the car window, on one side was a desert stretching to the horizon, and on the other side was a vast blue ocean.
The Land Rover was extremely fast, and soon it entered downtown Dubai.
Henry, a Black man, parked the car in the underground parking garage of the Dubai International Financial Centre and personally opened the car door for Su Yuyang, with a bank service manager standing nearby.
Looking at the vibrant Middle Eastern beauty in front of him, Su Yuyang felt a sense of satisfaction with Henry's efficiency.
With this foreign language expert by his side, Su Yuyang's arrangements went very smoothly.
......
In the wasteland world, on Bank Avenue, a team of a thousand people finally arrived at an outer outpost of the Ashlands camp.
Sitting on the shoulder of the strange beast at the foot of the mountain, Master Huo glanced at Gao Zhuang, who had a gloomy look on his face, and shook his head slightly.
"Why are you acting like a family member has died just because I asked you to go?"
"If we don't act convincingly, how can we fool that guy?" Gao Zhuang still looked lifeless.
"Yes, losing a tactical squad is something that will sadden us for a while, no matter what."
Master Huo was referring to the fact that Gaozhuang had abandoned ten second-tier talent users.
Knowing that the other party was blaming him for being too wasteful, Gao Zhuang said indifferently, "Didn't you also get injured at Shanjiao? Losing ten second-tier talent users should be acceptable to Wu Tou."
Upon hearing the name Wu Tou, Master Huo narrowed his eyes slightly, turned his head to look at Gao Zhuang sitting beside him, and his voice suddenly turned cold.
"Are you sure that mysterious gifted individual can really kill Wu Shenggu?"
Gao Zhuang shook his head. "We lost ten men, and we still couldn't find out what that person was up to. I always felt there was something strange about that building. I didn't dare to go near it at the time."
Looking down at the injury on the corner of his groin, Master Huo's eyes were filled with a dark and inscrutable expression. He sighed softly.
I hope your plan will succeed.
On their way back to the bank's headquarters, they joined up with other teams, and their numbers surged from the initial three hundred to thirteen thousand.
The team was indeed quite large; if it weren't for the presence of the Mountain Horned Beast and the Zombie King, it would have required the intervention of Master Huo and Gao Zhuang.
As for the second-tier and first-tier talents below, casualties were inevitable. Some, even those who didn't die, were seriously injured, and some even had most of their arms eaten away by mutated beasts.
The two gifted individuals on duty outside the bank building were startled when they saw a large crowd emerging from the gray-yellow smog and instinctively issued a warning.
Upon hearing the alarm, many gifted individuals rushed out from several buildings near Bank Street, some standing on the rooftops and others opening the broken windows along the street.
Another group of talented individuals, a total of ten, emerged directly from the buildings along the street and converged on the two talented individuals on duty.
At the same time, upon hearing the alarm sound from the bank's outpost, Master Huo frowned slightly and waved to a talented individual below.
Immediately, someone rode a one-meter-tall mountain-horned beast and dashed off with a "whoosh!" It quickly appeared before the people at the bank's outpost.
Having confirmed that they were companions from the Ash Earth Camp, the group of talented individuals guarding the bank outpost finally withdrew their hostility.
Behind the concrete railing on the street, a young man gently patted the old man who had issued the warning, "Uncle Zhao, you're getting more and more timid as you get older."
The others also burst out laughing.
But just as everyone had started to laugh, they heard a sound from the six-meter-high mountain ridge at the front of the procession. Everyone immediately stopped laughing and respectfully stood at attention.
Several gifted individuals quickly pushed aside the concrete barrier blocking the way.
The mountain-horned beast's four claws slammed into the shattered ground, each strike sending a shiver down the spines of the gifted individuals at the bank outpost.
Having been assigned to an outpost on the outskirts of the Ash Earth Camp, he had heard of Lord Huo's fearsome reputation, especially the mountain-horned beast under his command that loved to eat people.
Most of the survivors captured by Master Huo would become prey for the strange beasts of the mountain.
A gifted individual at the bank outpost glanced sideways at the ragged survivors in the line and felt a pang of sympathy.
As everyone was lost in their own thoughts, a hearty, honest laugh came from a building on the left.
"Hahaha, Brother Huo, Brother Gao, you're finally back! Welcome, welcome, most welcome!"
A tall man, dressed in a magnificent robe that was a fusion of Chinese and Western styles, looked incongruous, yet no one dared to utter a word of criticism.
The newcomer was Wu Shenggu, the leader of the bank's outpost, a fourth-tier talent with strength equal to that of Master Huo and Gao Zhuang.
One of the talented individuals accompanying the bank outpost saw his leader and hurriedly ran over.
Seeing that Wu Shenggu looked very happy, with smiles in his eyes.
How could he not be happy to have gained more than a thousand slaves?
It's important to know that there's a source crystal mine beneath the bank's location. Even though it's just a remnant of the ore, it'll still keep them busy mining for quite some time.
In his eyes, these slaves were all glittering source crystals.
Wu Shenggu strode toward Master Huo and Gao Zhuang, but was approached by a gifted individual who appeared out of nowhere.
Normally, he would have kicked him away long ago. But the more he looked at him, the more familiar he seemed. Wu Shengu's expression remained unchanged as he frowned and asked.
"Hey you, what's the matter?"
The person swallowed hard, unsure whether to speak in public. After a moment's hesitation, he finally answered.
"Boss, Wu Sheng and the others are all dead."
Hearing the other party's faint voice, Wu Shenggu frowned slightly. But as a fourth-tier talent, how could he not hear what the other party was saying?
Wu Sheng and his ten men were the key second-level talents he was cultivating, and they were considered the most perfect team in terms of tactical talent combination at the bank stronghold.
Dead? Wu Shenggu could accept the death of one or two; he could simply select two more from the pool of potential talents to fill the gaps.
Now that they were all dead, Wu Shenggu's mood instantly soured, and his face turned frosty as he looked at Master Huo and Gao Zhuang.
Although there was still a distance of over a hundred meters between the two sides, how could Huo Ye and Gao Zhuang, both fourth-tier talent users, not hear the conversation between Wu Shenggu and that talent user?
Seeing Wu Shenggu's face instantly darken, Gao Zhuang glanced at Master Huo and could only manage an awkward smile.
He chuckled twice and explained.
"It was all an accident, an accident, truly an accident. I, Lao Gao, swear to God, it was absolutely not Master Huo's doing."
Gao Zhuang's words made Wu Shenggu's expression even more sinister, and even Huo Ye, who had been expressionless, snorted coldly and looked at Gao Zhuang with a warning in his eyes.
"No, no, it's my fault for saying that. Those ten people were beyond my ability to save."
Wu Shenggu was completely confused by Gao Zhuang's words and was extremely dissatisfied. However, he couldn't show his anger on the spot, because if the Third Battalion Commander found out, he would have his source crystals deducted again.
"Haha~~~ It's just a small matter, not worth mentioning!"
Wu Shenggu shoved the gifted individual aside, who staggered and flew backward for a hundred meters, crashing through a dilapidated wall on the right and sending up a shower of rubble and debris.
Seeing Wu Shenggu stride over, Gao Zhuang could no longer stay on Master Huo's mountain beast. With a leap, he landed in front of Wu Shenggu, grabbed Wu Shenggu's shoulder, and forcefully turned him around.
The two strode towards the dilapidated building on the left.
Outside the bank's outpost, Huo patted the mountain-horned beast on the shoulder, then leaped down, letting the beast disappear into the distant, gray-yellow smog.
Seeing this, the gifted individuals guarding the bank outpost nearby felt a chill run down their spines, and some even turned around and ran back to notify their close companions.
During this period, you absolutely must not leave the base.
Last time, it was this mountain-horned beast that devoured many people at the stronghold. The ordinary survivors were alright, but several talented individuals were torn to pieces by the mountain-horned beast.
Watching thousands of survivors being herded into the bank branch, Mr. Huo remained expressionless, smoking a cigarette that was still fresh and of unknown age.
As he exhaled a long smoke ring and gazed up at the gray-yellow smog-filled sky, Huo Ye was thinking about the mysterious gifted individual at the Night Watch camp.
The fact that the mountain corner was able to be injured repeatedly made Gao Zhuang dare not make a move rashly.
"Who exactly are you?"
After finishing the half-smoked cigarette, Mr. Huo muttered to himself.
On the other side, in the bank building's reception room, a sumptuous feast of meat dishes and drinks was prepared. Seeing the table full of delicious food, Gao Zhuang's mouth watered.
Before Wu Shenggu could announce the start of the feast, Gao Zhuang casually found a spot and began to eat heartily, savoring every bite.
"Brother Wu, you really know how to enjoy life! Only you could get this kind of treatment in the Abandoned City!"
Gao Zhuang laughed unrestrainedly, which made Wu Shenggu's lips twitch. He lightly tapped the table to remind him.
"Hey Lao Gao, you can't just say things like that. I'm only saying this to thank you for your contributions to my bank's camp."
"Bullshit! You could have easily captured them yourself, why did the Third Battalion Commander have to order two fourth-tier warriors from Jintu to wipe out those settlements?"
Gao Zhuang gulped down a glass of wine, then immediately spat it out, staring at Wu Shenggu with displeasure and cursing.
"Old Wu, are you trying to kill me?! This wine is expired!"
"How could it be expired? Look at the ingredient list, there are dozens of high-tech ingredients in it!" Wu Shenggu glanced at him sideways, still pondering whether Gao Zhuang or Huo Ming would make a move against his men.
As if he could see right through Wu Shenggu's unpredictable expression, Gao Zhuang didn't glance at the ingredient list on the bottle, picked up the bottle, and downed it in one gulp.
After downing a bottle of baijiu in one go, Gao Zhuang finally let out a long breath and said with a sense of relief.
"Your ten men came out with me."
Their deaths had nothing to do with Master Huo. Blame me, Old Gao.
Finally, Gao Zhuang sighed softly, turned his head to look at Wu Shenggu opposite him, and said with a smile.
"I don't know if this is your good fortune or your misfortune, Lao Wu."
"What happened?"
Wu Shenggu frowned, the gloom in his eyes lessened by a third, and stared at Gao Zhuang, who was pretending to be drunk.
"We swept away the entire settlement within a 500-kilometer radius, bringing you over a thousand slaves."
Many of them are highly talented; I'll entrust them all to you.
This is to use the talents from these gathering places to compensate for the loss of the ten second-tier talents.
Wu Shenggu remained silent, waiting for Gao Zhuang to continue.
"You've been fortunate enough to acquire a source crystal mine, but I wonder if you can hold onto it?"
Gao Zhuang picked up a piece of the strange beast meat and chewed it.
"One of the survivor hideouts was strange. I didn't dare to go in rashly."
Hearing Gao Zhuang's burps, Wu Shenggu's brows furrowed even deeper. It wasn't that Huo Ming had killed his subordinates that made him less serious.
Why would a survivor's stronghold be so feared by Gao Zhuang?
Wu Shenggu took a deep breath, frowned, and asked, "What exactly happened?"
"I don't know the specifics of what happened either. The first time we cleared that place, it was very easy; our third-tier talent users alone wiped out the entire night watch camp."
"When we turned back, Master Huo deliberately left Shanjiao underground at that campsite, intending to feed all the fish that had escaped to Shanjiao."
"Unexpectedly, he escaped from the mountain corner and was injured."
Gao Zhuang seemed to have thought of something, and suddenly looked up at Wu Shenggu, his eyes full of warning, "With me here, if you dare to make a move, don't blame me for disregarding the Third Battalion Commander's feelings."
"Heh, how could I? After all, Huo Ming is my sworn brother. How could I possibly lay a hand on him?"
Wu Shenggu gave an awkward smile, concealing the sudden murderous intent that arose in his eyes, and changed the subject, continuing to ask.
"And then? What happened next?"
"And then? I went there myself, with the ten men you sent. And then, and then..."
Gao Zhuang let out a burp and then fell asleep on the table.
......
The four of them—Song Ruhai, Lin Xuanzhi, Zhao Xinyan, and Jiang Xiaochen—have been searching the shelter building for several days, but still haven't found a single survivor.
The surrounding thirty-odd blocks had been completely ransacked by Song Ruhai, Zhao Xinyan, and Jiang Xiaochen, leaving very little gold.
As for zombies and mutated beasts, the three of them killed quite a few, but only obtained a pitiful three source crystals, which they placed next to Su Yuyang's statue.
It's no wonder they weren't careful; fearing the people from the Ash Earth camp might attack again, the four of them had already agreed that they would offer all the Source Crystals they obtained to the statue.
"Tell me, what should we do next?"
Jiang Xiaochen looked at the other three with a solemn expression.
Thinking that by joining the mysterious master's refuge, he could make a name for himself, and by recruiting enough survivors to form a team of talented individuals, they could explore even more distant areas.
After a moment of silence, Song Ruhai broke the silence by speaking first.
"I remember there should be a survivor gathering point about 300 miles to the north. I plan to bring some food and water tomorrow morning."
"No!"
Before Song Ruhai could continue, Lin Xuanzhi decisively objected.
"It's too far. If you encounter the people from the Ash Earth Camp, you won't even have a chance to escape back."
Lin Xuanzhi turned to Zhao Xinyan and Jiang Xiaochen and asked, "Have you explored the surrounding neighborhoods?"
Zhao Xinyan and Jiang Xiaochen nodded immediately, wondering what Lin Xuanzhi meant, and both frowned as they stared at each other.
"Do you think the Ash Earth Camp will only attack the Night Watch Camp?"
They likely massacred all the nearby settlements.
"this!"
Song Ruhai, Zhao Xinyan, and Jiang Xiaochen's expressions changed drastically, and they all gasped in shock.
Even if we don't know what the Ash Earth Camp wants to do with so many survivors, the sheer number of slaves suggests they're planning something big.
As Lin Xuanzhi's gaze fell upon him, Song Ruhai and Zhao Xinyan also looked at Jiang Xiaochen.
"Jiang Xiaochen, your talent is the ability to hide in the night. You are the only one best suited to gather information."
Their original plan to gather the survivors around them was no longer feasible, and now they had to face the rampant expansion of the Ash Earth camp.
Noticing the gazes of the three, Jiang Xiaochen took a deep breath, his expression changing several times before finally making up his mind.
"Okay, I'll go!"
Song Ruhai's talent is [Gravity], Zhao Xinyan's talent is [Water Ripples], and only his talent is [Night Concealment], which allows him to hide his tracks.
"you,"
Zhao Xinyan glanced at Jiang Xiaochen, then looked at Song Ruhai and Lin Xuanzhi, hesitated for a moment, and then made a suggestion.
"Should we wait until the adults come back before making any plans?"
Although Jiang Xiaochen possesses the talent for stealth, no one knows how effective this stealth would be if he encountered a third-tier talent user from the Ash Earth Camp.
"Don't worry, I'll be careful. I'll only scout the perimeter and won't get close to the Ash Earth camp."
Jiang Xiaochen didn't want to go either, but he felt he had to go because he had to prove his worth.
"I'll go with you!"
Song Ruhai glanced at Jiang Xiaochen, who seemed hesitant, and then decisively made the suggestion.
"Ah~" Lin Xuanzhi and Zhao Xinyan exclaimed in surprise.
"No!"
Jiang Xiaochen's face turned cold as he stared at Song Ruhai, his tone unfriendly, "Are you doubting me?"
"You've misunderstood. You're not good at fighting. If you encounter other talented individuals, you'll probably suffer a loss."
We've finally managed to get three talented individuals, and I don't want to sacrifice one of them now.
"you!"
Jiang Xiaochen was filled with mixed emotions; when did she ever need someone to protect her?
Instantly guessing Song Ruhai's intentions, Lin Xuanzhi hesitated for a moment before finally agreeing.
"If the two of you go together, you can look after each other. What does Xinyan think?"
Feeling flustered by the gazes of three people, Zhao Xinyan instinctively tried to dodge.
"Alright, you don't need to ask anymore. Since Ru Hai wants to go, let's go together."
Jiang Xiaochen gently patted Song Ruhai's shoulder.
Meeting Jiang Xiaochen's gaze, Song Ruhai got up and followed Jiang Xiaochen to a room on the second floor facing the street.
The two stood facing each other, gazing at each other for a long time before Song Ruhai finally spoke.
It's not that I don't trust you.
"I know there are four of us now, and we're still heading to the Ash Earth Camp. It's only natural that you're worried."
Jiang Xiaochen gently patted the dilapidated window frame.
"But you must understand, that's the Ash Earth Camp. If it's exposed, I won't come to your rescue."
He called Song Ruhai aside to tell him this.
"You're not deliberately revealing yourself, are you?"
Song Ruhai chuckled dryly, his eyes and the corners of his mouth curving slightly.
Jiang Xiaochen punched Song Ruhai hard in the chest and said angrily, "I wish I could, but I'm afraid Lin Xuanzhi will not let it go."
"Alright, get some rest tonight, we'll set off first thing tomorrow morning."
Watching Jiang Xiaochen's retreating figure as he walked out of the room, Song Ruhai's eyes widened, and he was momentarily lost in thought.
Looking back on everything that happened in this building, there were images of Shen Changge, Luo Lingsha and her sisters, and Zhu Wenchao and the others.
Countless figures ran past the doorway, and the hallway was filled with laughter, shouts, and the giggling of children.
A tear gradually welled up in Song Ruhai's eyes. The building was quiet, devoid of its usual liveliness and tension.
Just as he raised his hand to wipe away the tears from the corner of his eyes, a graceful figure appeared at the door, and Song Ruhai wiped away his tears even faster.
"Why are you here?"
"What's wrong with you?"
Noticing that Song Ruhai's expression was off, Lin Xuanzhi asked with concern.
"Me? What else can I do? I'm a gifted individual now."
Song Ruhai quickly composed himself, looked at Lin Xuanzhi approaching, and remained silent for a long time before finally asking, "Are you truly unwilling to awaken your talent?"
"No, I'm fine now. That lord has already promised revenge. I'm afraid of pain."
The scene when Song Ruhai awakened his talent a few days ago frightened her, causing Lin Xuanzhi to temporarily abandon her plan to awaken her talent.
"Alright then, you and Zhao Xinyan must be careful on the rooftop during this time."
"Alright. If you don't come back, I will definitely ask you, sir, to collect your bodies."
Lin Xuanzhi laughed through her tears.
"What nonsense are you talking about! Jiang Xiaochen and I will definitely come back safe and sound."
Song Ruhai glared at Lin Xuanzhi with a serious expression.
Immediately, a hearty laugh came from the room window, completely out of place with the roars of the mutated beasts in the distant gray-yellow smog.
