In America, my cousin, Supergirl Kara...

Chapter 1: Kara El, the Market Girl

Seattle, USA, Pike Street.

Li Xiao lifted the black man's feet aside, pulled his backpack from under the man's arm, and took out the butterfly knife from the suitcase.

On his first day in America, this was the third time he had encountered a free purchase. If he hadn't practiced Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) for several years, he would be the one lying on the ground right now.

I unzipped the bag and rummaged through it; everything was still there, but the phone screen was cracked.

After pressing the power button and swiping the interface with his fingertips to confirm that it was still usable, Li Xiao breathed a sigh of relief.

He opened his call log, looked at the red number at the top, and dialed it again.

A moment later, a lazy voice came through the phone:

"Hey, this is Kara El. I'm probably busy with something important, or having afternoon tea. You know what to do after the beep. See you later."

Li Xiao hung up the phone expressionlessly, looking at the famous chewing gum wall behind him, his thoughts drifting back to half a month ago.

At that time, he was still studying at Tokyo University. During a long break between classes, he went to the toilet and happened to see some upperclassmen bullying someone.

He acted decisively to stop it, but the result was a broken wrist, a concussion, and most seriously, a ruptured kidney.

It was later learned that the victim and the bully were in the same class, and the bully was simply because the victim had an intellectual disability and was honest and easy to bully.

His parents went to great lengths to pull strings and prevent him from going to a juvenile detention center, but dropping out of school was inevitable. Not only that, but high schools in China were almost completely out of reach for him.

Left with no other choice, the mother had to swallow her pride and contact relatives across the ocean.

My mother is American. She met my father, who was studying abroad, by chance and returned to China with him despite her family's objections.

Without exception, they were all rejected, but fortunately, a cousin named Kara was willing to take them in.

Li Xiao had never met this distant cousin before, only heard about her from his mother. Kara had always been a sensible and obedient girl, but judging from the fact that he was left stranded at the airport for most of the day, that was questionable.

Based on the landmark buildings, Li Xiao knew that his cousin's house should be in this area. As he walked, he carefully looked at the map on his phone, bypassed the unconscious black man on the ground, and turned to walk towards the adjacent street.

Compared to Park Street, this street can only be described as terrible. The road, which was originally passable by cars, was blocked by colorful tents, and the ground was full of potholes. Li Xiao carefully avoided the puddles.

There were three or four people standing by the roadside with their heads buried in their crotches like statues. He glanced at them but didn't look at them for long.

Li Xiao's gaze swept over the surrounding houses. The buildings here were dilapidated, with the cement layer of the walls peeling off over the years, exposing the red bricks.

Half an hour later, he walked to a roller shutter door and looked up at the door sign.

"78-5, that's it, this is it!"

I finally found my cousin's address.

Taking a deep breath, Li Xiao gently tapped the metal sheet, causing the roller shutter to rattle.

"Fuck! Which bitch got the nerve to do that?!"

A sharp female voice rang out from upstairs.

Li Xiao looked up and saw a woman with a dirty face sticking her head out of a second-floor window, her cheeks blackened as if she had just crawled out of an oil pipeline.

"Hello, is this Kara El's residence?"

"Who are you?"

"I am her cousin, Li Xiao, and I have come to seek refuge with her."

"Snapped!"

The window was slammed shut.

Li Xiao stood there stunned for a few seconds. If he hadn't been forced to, he really didn't want to have to put up with other people's attitudes. Living under someone else's roof was never a good thing.

A few minutes later, the roller shutter door was pulled up halfway with a "whoosh," and the woman's voice rang out from inside: "Come in."

Li Xiao bent down and squeezed himself and his luggage through the gap.

Upon entering the room, the view instantly darkened, and Li Xiao couldn't help but squint. It resembled a narrow garage.

The middle pickup truck, with its paint chipped and oil leaking from the chassis, had a wooden door directly in front of it. However, the dog in the corner was not friendly and was baring its teeth at him.

The woman was bending over to pour dog food into the dog bowl. After she finished, she straightened up and looked Li Xiao up and down.

"I am Kara El. My aunt, who married and moved to Tokyo University, told me you kicked someone's testicles in the school?"

"It's not an egg, it's a kidney."

Li Xiao explained that, to be honest, he couldn't quite make out the person's face because her face was covered in grease, which also stained her long vest black.

"Stop. I don't want to hear your stories about being a superhero on campus. I wouldn't have taken you in if your parents hadn't sent me the money."

Kara leaned forward, almost bumping into him head-on, and Li Xiao could see her swaying curves through the loose collar.

Damn it, she's not wearing a bra! Li Xiao quickly turned his gaze away.

"Listen, kid, tone down your temper in America. This isn't like Tokyo University. Watch out, or one of those guys you piss off might pull a shotgun out of his pants and...bang!"

Kara pressed two fingers against Li Xiao's forehead.

"Your handsome little face is now in ruins. As a form of end-of-life care, I'll sell your body for a good price. Of course, don't expect me to avenge you."

"Shouldn't you have picked me up from the airport as agreed?"

Li Xiao wiped his brow with his hand, revealing a greasy mess on the back of his hand. He seriously suspected that Kara was deliberately playing a prank on him.

"Ha, didn't you see? This old car broke down," Kara said, patting the back of the pickup truck.

"I put in a lot of effort to fix it, but I can't say I broke my promise. You're lucky, though. I was at Walmart stocking shelves around this time, but I got a big job. The dog's owner asked me to look after it for a week, which will earn me five hundred dollars. Isn't that great?"

Without waiting for Li Xiao's response, Kara walked towards the back door on her own.

"Come on, kung fu kid, take a look at your future home. Oh, and pay the money first."

"Didn't you receive the money?"

"Please, that's just for your accommodation for three months; it doesn't include utilities or internet. And there's this too."

An envelope flew towards him, and Li Xiao caught it. Looking down, he saw a messy logo printed on it.

"I went to great lengths to get this admission notice for you. Since you're reasonably good-looking, I'll give you the full price: 3000. Here you go."

Li Xiao silently took out his phone, took a picture of the envelope, then opened GPT on the desktop and uploaded the image.

"Kent High School, Seattle's most notorious public high school, is known for its students fighting, drug use, and teachers promoting LGBT theories, with teachers receiving subsidies from the school for recruiting students."

Hearing the AI's mechanical voice, Kara looked like she'd seen a ghost.

This is a cunning and shrewd woman, Li Xiao secretly labeled her in his mind. She makes a killing by playing both sides, a truly lucrative business.

"I only have 800, that's all I have."

Li Xiao stared at Kara. He had only brought $1500 with him on this trip, but that was far from enough to cover the expenses, and there was a lot of money involved.

"Are you kidding me? $800 isn't even enough for my gas money for a month! No way, I need to pay more."

"Take it or leave it. I'll just quit school."

Li Xiao turned and left. Given Kara's greedy nature, would she really let go of such a fat sheep as him? He didn't believe it.

"Wait! Wait a minute!" Kara was dumbfounded, but Li Xiao ignored her.

"Damn it!" Kara cursed, no longer caring about haggling, and rushed forward to grab Li Xiao's arm as he pulled the door open.

"Fine, fine! You win, $800 it is! But remember, next month's utility bill is $600, not a penny less!"

"I want compensation."

Li Xiao bluntly stated his conditions, a statement that nearly made Kara explode.

"Oh my god! What nonsense are you talking about? You think you can get something out of me? Don't even think about it!"

"You take my money and I'll make you a million dollars."

Hearing Kara's roar, Li Xiao simply replied calmly.

Kara stomped her feet in anger. This brat was not easy to fool. Although she quoted a high price, it was negotiable. There was no reason for her to stick to a dead end.

Judging from this kid's attitude, he'll definitely go back to China without spending a lot of money, and then I won't earn a single penny.

Thinking of this, Kara walked to the pickup truck, opened the door, leaned in and rummaged around inside for a while, then slapped a card on Li Xiao.

"That gym membership is gone!"

Li Xiao had only mentioned it casually and didn't have high expectations. If he could gain something, he naturally wouldn't refuse, so he decisively stuffed the card into his pocket.

He then pulled out his wallet and took out eight bills, which Kara snatched from his hand. Only after confirming that the amounts matched did the gloom dissipate somewhat.

Come with me.

Reaching the end of the garage, Kara muttered as she turned the doorknob. Though her voice was soft, Li Xiao could still hear her clearly: "Bastard, shit..."

Upon entering, Li Xiao looked around. The peeling paint on the walls, the dusty television, and the sofa that was about to fall apart made Li Xiao almost think he had stepped into an American apartment from the last century.

The lighting was as dim as ever, and he suspected that his stingy cousin was simply trying to save money and was unwilling to use more efficient lighting.

It was much cleaner than the garage, though you had to ignore the musty smell emanating from the carpet underfoot.

"Find a place to sit."

Kara snorted and went into the bathroom. Li Xiao put down his luggage and sat down in front of a fairly sturdy sofa.

As soon as he sat down, he felt something hanging on the back of the chair. Before he could reach for it, Kara rushed over like a maddened female hyena and grabbed him.

"Fuck! You fucking sat on my chest!"

Caught off guard, he was pulled and stumbled. Li Xiao was speechless. Was he crazy? Why did it look like he was robbing her?

Although Kara hid it quickly, Li Xiao still saw a dark blue latex suit, a large red cloth, and a mesh undergarment.

Li Xiao pursed his lips, thinking to himself, "What's gotten into her? It's something shady again."

"Where is my room?"

"The first door on the left upstairs leads to the toilet on the second floor. I'm warning you, watch where you're going! If you pee everywhere, I'll cut it off and hang it on the wall in the middle of the night!"

Li Xiao ignored her and went upstairs with his luggage.

Pushing open the door, a musty smell of wood hits you. At first glance, the entire room is made of composite board, with most of the floorboards warped, giving you the feeling that you might fall at any moment when you step on them.

Li Xiao threw his luggage into the corner and collapsed onto the bed, causing the old, dilapidated wooden bed to shake violently.

"That was really tiring."

He sighed. After sitting on a plane for more than ten hours and getting into three fights, all he wanted to do when he lay in bed was get a good night's sleep.

He hastily took off his clothes, pulled the blanket over himself, and soon fell asleep.

He didn't know how much time had passed, but in a daze, he felt his head being lifted up and his body being pulled into a warm embrace.

Li Xiao suddenly woke up and found that her face was covered by a soft mass, completely blocking her vision, and she could only smell a faint fragrance.

Two hands gripped his waist and abdomen, rendering him unable to move.

Li Xiao struggled to turn his head, only to find that Kara was hugging him tightly in her arms like a pillow.

"Karl El, my cousin, your sister has finally found you!"

Kara's voice was very gentle, sweet as honey.

What the heck, did I use marijuana?

Li Xiao was startled. He hadn't slept in the middle of the night and had run to the room to hug him and act crazy. This scene looked like he was high on drugs.

"Um, could you let go of my arm and let me get up?"

"Of course, honey."

Li Xiao felt a chill run down his spine when he heard that word "baby." That woman who started with "F" and ended with "K" would never speak to him so gently.

With his restraints removed, Li Xiao jumped off the bed in a hurry.

Kara sat on the edge of the bed, her dark blue bodysuit with an "S" printed on the chest perfectly hugging her graceful figure, and her red skirt revealing her soft, white legs that shimmered even in the dim light.

The crimson cloak behind him cascaded down like a waterfall.

Isn't this Superwoman?

Li Xiao recognized Kara's outfit at a glance. He found that after his cousin washed her face, she looked surprisingly outstanding, with blonde hair, blue eyes, and an oval face. She could totally audition in this outfit.

"What did you call me?"

Li Xiao glanced at her suspiciously and found that Kara's eyes were open, which did not seem like she was sleepwalking. Could it be a split personality?

"Karl, where have you been all these years? I couldn't find you anywhere, and I thought you had perished in space."

Li Xiao swallowed hard, just about to speak, when a thunderous mechanical voice suddenly rang in his mind.
