Chapter 9 I Want to Go with My Master

Luo An returned to the house.

He went into Celia's room and went to the wardrobe, opening the wooden door.

Celia was curled up inside, hugging her knees with both hands, her whole body huddled into a small ball.

Her silver-white hair clung messily to her cheeks, her elf ears twitched occasionally, and her blue eyes stared blankly, revealing unease.

Seria's obedient appearance softened Roan's heart; he found the elf truly lovable.

"It's alright, come out now."

Luo An walked to the side.

When Celia saw Roan return, she smiled happily, stretched, and stepped out of the wardrobe.

She asked Luo An anxiously, "Master, I heard a lot of horse hooves. Who came outside just now?"

"The lord of the territory has come with his guards to investigate the monster attack."

Luo An sat down on the edge of the bed and briefly recounted what had just happened.

The more Celia listened, the more her brows furrowed.

She suddenly grabbed Luo An's hand, her eyes full of reluctance.

"Master, could you please not become a guard? Let's stay on the farm and live a peaceful life, okay?"

"I can help with all the farm work."

If her master really went to become a guard, then as a slave, she could not possibly go with him.

Celia was worried that the farm would be sold off and she would be taken to the slave market by her master.

The thought terrified her.

She didn't want to be someone else's slave; she only wanted to be her master's slave.

Celia's tone was full of concern.

"Master, from what you're saying, this lord is only outwardly kind, but his heart is wicked."

"If you go and become a guard, he might send you to your death. You absolutely must not go."

Luo An chuckled, feeling that Celia had changed quite a bit.

She now at least refers to herself as "you" instead of "you" (formal).

Moreover, she was indeed considering her own safety.

Luo An let Celia sit down beside him and gently rubbed her little head.

"Don't worry, I have no intention of becoming a bodyguard."

"I don't plan to sell the farm. The land deed is in my hands, and as long as I don't sell it, the farm is my property."

"Brian is a lord, but he cannot openly seize private property protected by imperial law."

Celia was being stroked by a large hand.

For some reason, she actually enjoyed being touched.

After letting Luo An stroke her for a while, Celia asked worriedly, "But what if he does something bad in secret? Like this monster attack?"

There's always a way to handle it.

Luo An withdrew his hand.

It is indeed something to worry about if someone tries to sabotage you in secret.

It is very important to help Celia recover her magic power as soon as possible.

"I'm going to leave the farm and head to town to buy you an anti-magic stone, and also some other necessities."

Now that the farmland has been destroyed by goblins and the seeds are spoiled, Roan needs to clean up the farm.

"Master, I want to go with you too."

Celia's eyes lit up instantly.

"Are your ears safe to go into town?"

Roan was just an ordinary farmer, of very low status.

His arrival in the city with expensive elven slaves inevitably attracted attention.

If he had fancy clothes, Luo An could at least pretend to be a nobleman, but unfortunately he didn't.

"Really...can't I go with Master?"

Celia raised her hand and touched her pointed ears, pouting.

"I can let my hair down to cover some of it, and as long as no one looks closely, no one will notice."

Seeing her downcast mood, Luo An thought for a moment.

If we let Celia stay on the farm, will there be a risk of a decrease in trust levels?

After much deliberation, he pulled an old robe and a woolen hat from the closet.

"Put this on, and then put your hat on properly."

Celia put the robe over herself and felt very warm.

She then covered most of her face with a woolen hat, bending her ears slightly to conceal them.

"Master, is everything alright now?"

Celia stood up, spun around in place, and eagerly awaited a reply.

Luo An looked him over.

She was wrapped up so tightly that no flaws could be seen.

It's the dead of winter, so this kind of outfit doesn't seem strange at all.

"The farm has no horses left, so we have to walk."

"Take some dry food with you. The road to the main city is quite long, so we'll eat on the way."

Roan casually took out a robe and put it on, then locked the door and left the farm with Celia.

......

Meanwhile, the carriage had traveled quite a distance after leaving the farm.

Inside the carriage, Brian leaned against the cushions, glanced at the rural scenery outside the window, and then looked away.

Sitting opposite him was a burly young orc man.

He had a pair of light gray wolf ears and a stern face.

Seeing Brian looking at him, the werewolf asked humbly, "Master, were you thinking about that farm just now?"

"Luo An survived, which really surprised me."

Brian rested one hand on his forehead, his eyes lowered, revealing no emotion.

"This was my oversight; please punish me, Master."

The werewolf looked terrified and immediately knelt down.

Although he wasn't directly in charge, it was indeed his subordinates who handled the work.

"A little accident is nothing, I trust you to handle things."

Brian sneered.

The probability of someone surviving a monster attack on a farm is low, but it is still possible.

He hadn't really taken it to heart.

Just survive, and we'll figure it out later.

"Send someone to secretly investigate Old Bell's grave and see if he is really buried there."

"Don't disturb Luo An, and don't let him know that the grave has been disturbed."

Brian gave instructions to the werewolf.

"Yes, I understand!"

The werewolf crouched down, his forehead touching the ground.

He dared not raise his head without his master's permission.

"Give that kid seven days. If he reports to the guard regiment within seven days, this matter will be temporarily dropped."

Brian felt that giving the farm to old Bell to cultivate for free for twenty years was already more than kind.

This land originally belonged to him, so why don't those people want to return it after they've acquired it?

Brian thought these people were too greedy.

"If he still hasn't come after seven days and is still guarding that dilapidated farm, then find some monsters that are stronger than ordinary goblins and lure them toward the farm."

"A farm isn't something a mere young boy can just defend."

As the carriage moved along the road, Brian looked out the window at a damaged farm not far away, and his voice turned cold.

"Keep your hands and feet clean, don't leave any traces, and don't let the guards know."

"It would be bad if it discouraged the people below."

The werewolf maintained its bowed posture, showing no surprise in its eyes.

Having followed Brian for many years, he was already used to his master's way of doing things.

Behind the glamorous facade lies extremely cruel methods.

They were made to do all the dirty, clandestine work.

"Your subordinate will never betray your master's trust."

Brian ignored the werewolf crawling at his feet.

"Kylo, get up."

Hearing this, Kailo breathed a sigh of relief and stood up in a panic.

The carriage slowly came to a stop.

The car door opened, and Brian's coldness had vanished, replaced by his usual amiable demeanor.

He stepped down from the carriage and stood on the muddy road.

"This is the fifth farm to be attacked."

The houses in front of him were severely damaged, and the farmland was trampled and abandoned. Brian looked extremely melancholy.

"This monster attack is much more intense than we imagined."

"I hope someone here survived too."
