Chapter 41 The Slave Hunter with an Extreme Sensitivity to Smell

"Master, a presence is approaching from the southwest, and it's moving very fast."

After walking for a while, Celia suddenly realized something.

She maintained her magical awareness to prevent failing to notice when a threat approached.

"I see."

Luo An didn't know who that aura belonged to, but he still wanted to be prepared just in case.

He glanced around and stared at a thick, ancient tree not far away, with a hollowed-out hole at the base of its trunk.

Luo An looked inside. The cave wasn't very big, but it was big enough for two slender girls to hide in.

"Celia, you all hide inside the cave and don't make a sound."

As Luo An spoke, he gently placed Elena, who was in his arms, inside.

He looked at the goblin corpse that Celia was dragging with magic, "The goblin's corpse can be put down now."

These goblins were meant for emergencies, but they unexpectedly came in handy.

Celia set down the body, walked to the tree hollow, and asked, "Master, is there really nothing I need to do?"

Luo An took out the dagger he always carried and thought for a moment.

"Hide inside for now. If I need you later, just follow my instructions."

"In short, be ready to use magic at any time."

"But remember, you must conceal your breathing and not be detected."

Celia nodded, saying nothing more, and kept her master's instructions in mind.

Luo An casually plucked a few vines and withered leaves to cover the entrance of the cave.

He turned and walked to the goblin's corpse, cutting off its pelt.

Soon, a fine horse galloped out of the bushes.

The hunter on horseback pulled on the reins and stopped just over ten paces from Luo An.

The man, dressed in fine leather armor and carrying a strong bow on his back, was clearly one of the two slave hunters who were hunting down the Elena sisters.

He looked down at the goblin corpse on the ground, then turned to look at Roan.

"Hey kid, have you seen a cat-eared beastman covered in blood?"

"The woman was shot in the back with an arrow; her injuries are severe, and she is extremely weak."

He held a long whip in his hand, but did not let his guard down.

"I just took care of these goblins, and I haven't seen any of those injured orcs you mentioned."

Luo An didn't stop cutting the fur, but just glanced at him.

"No?"

The man frowned; there was indeed a strong smell of blood in this place.

As a slave hunter who spent many years hunting, he had a certain sensitivity to smells.

The smell here is not only of goblin blood, but also of other blood.

Something is wrong!

The young man in front of me is lying.

He looked at the tree hole not far away, and the smell seemed to be coming from inside.

"You really haven't seen it?"

The hunter dismounted, stared at Roan with a suspicious look, and walked towards the tree hollow.

"Did you hide the orcs inside?"

He looked at the man's shabby clothes and couldn't help but laugh. "Don't you even know your place? How dare you own orc slaves?"

Roan suddenly stopped cutting goblin leather, and three wind blades flew straight toward the hunter's neck.

The hunter reacted quickly, dodging to the side, while the dead leaves behind him were shredded to pieces.

"You know magic, kid?"

His eyes held a different glint than mere contempt.

"You really can't judge a book by its cover."

The hunter cracked his leather whip, intending to finish off the kid first.

Roan's magic surged, as if he was about to unleash another magical attack.

Seeing that the hunter's expression had become even more tense and that he was staring intently at him, Roan suddenly shouted.

"Celia, use binding magic!"

The man's expression froze for a moment.

He was completely absorbed in the moment and had no idea that there were other people around.

Before he could react, an invisible wave of magical energy enveloped his body.

By the time the hunter realized what was happening, his muscles bulged as he tried to break free of his restraints, but he couldn't move an inch.

"You're too arrogant."

Roan looked at the hunter with a slight smile on his lips.

Keeping them alive will only bring more trouble.

He didn't want to leave any future problems.

A blazing flame rolled in his palm, and a fireball illuminated the darkness of the forest.

"Wait, you can't kill me!"

"I am a member of the Black Gold Merchant Guild. Spare my life, and you can have that slave."

Sensing the threat of death, the hunter panicked and quickly identified himself.

"I don't need you to deliver it."

Luo An didn't know what the Black Gold Merchant Guild was, but killing it was definitely the right thing to do.

After all, only the dead can't speak.

A blazing fireball shot out and engulfed the man's body in the blink of an eye.

The intense heat swept through, and the screams only lasted for a few seconds before abruptly ceasing.

When the flames subsided, the once ferocious slave hunter had become a charred corpse lying on the ground.

Luo An stared at the charred corpse, his expression unchanged.

Although it wasn't the full-fledged version of the Great Fireball Technique, the fact that the corpse wasn't completely burned was enough to demonstrate the man's incredible physical strength.

If Celia hadn't feigned an attack to draw his attention and then secretly used binding magic, this slave hunter wouldn't have been so easy to deal with.

Luo An turned and walked towards the frightened horse, pressing its head down.

The horse rubbed against his palm and gradually calmed down.

"Celia, come out, we should go."

Luo An mounted his horse and walked to the tree hollow.

The vines that were blocking the view were pushed aside, and Celia carried the unconscious cat-eared girl out of the tree hole.

Luo An first took Elena and placed her behind his back, then reached out his hand to Celia.

"Come up."

Celia used the momentum to mount her horse and sat behind Elena.

"We need to leave this forest as soon as possible. There was a lot of commotion just now. If he has any companions nearby, they are probably on their way."

Luo An spurred his horse, and the horse neighed and galloped towards the farm.

Soon, the three people and the horse disappeared into the forest.

......

Not long after, the sound of horses' hooves came from the place where the fireball exploded.

Another slave hunter arrived, with an unconscious catgirl tied to his back.

He leaped off his horse and walked to the charred corpse on the ground.

The charred corpse's features were so badly burned that it was impossible to identify who the deceased was.

However, a metal tag hanging from his waist indicated his identity.

"How could this be..."

The air still held the scent of magic, and the hunter could not remain calm.

"Did you encounter a magician?"

Cold sweat broke out on the hunter's back, and a suspicion arose in his mind.

Someone must have rescued the unconscious Elena, and her companion caught up and tried to stop her. The two fought, but due to the difference in strength, the companion was killed.

The fact that his companion died before he could even send a distress signal meant that the opponent's strength far exceeded his expectations.

He and his companions were roughly equal in strength, so choosing to give chase would be unwise; even if they caught up, it would likely be suicide.

"Damn it! She actually got away."

The hunter glanced at Freya on horseback and slapped her on her crimson cheek.

His anger subsided slightly, and he quickly mounted his horse, turned it around, and rode off in another direction.

Now that the slaves have been taken away, they can return.

There was only one thing he needed to do.

Report to your superiors any news that someone has dared to kill the merchant guild hunters and steal slaves.

As for how to handle it, he doesn't need to worry about that.
