Chapter 39 An Innate Nobility

Deep in the forest.

Two figures were struggling to move through the forest.

They had a pair of furry cat ears, and their clothes were dirty, covered in mud and blood.

The two cat-people's bare arms and calves were covered with bloody wounds.

"Cough cough... Sister, I... I really can't run anymore..."

The slightly shorter cat-eared girl was pale, her amber eyes filled with fear.

They had been running for a day and a night.

They thought they had escaped, but this morning, the slave hunters still found them.

"Irena, hang in there a little longer, we'll definitely escape."

Freya held her sister's hand tightly, looking at the blood on her sister's back, her eyes filled with deep hatred.

call out!

An arrow shot from behind, piercing through the girl's thin clothing and embedding itself in her back.

"Pfft!"

Irena's body stiffened abruptly, blood seeped from her back, and her legs went weak, causing her to collapse.

"Irena!"

Freya exclaimed in surprise and quickly helped her up.

But in that brief pause, the two figures behind him grew closer and closer.

Two fine horses galloped in, their footsteps echoing through the fallen leaves, accompanied by chilling laughter and curses.

"Run! Why aren't you running anymore? You two bastards, you dare to try and escape from me?"

"This time, when we catch you, we'll give you a good whipping to teach you what rules are!"

The two men on horseback pulled on the reins and dismounted.

"Tsk tsk, catgirls are one of the most popular beastmen among noble lords."

"It's your good fortune to be chosen by noble lords in the slave market. Don't keep thinking about running away."

A man holding a leather whip approached the two sisters, his eyes filled with amusement.

Freya shielded her injured sister behind her, staring intently at the approaching man.

She knew that if she were caught and taken back, she would be beaten half to death.

"Irena, get out of here!"

Elena clutched her bleeding back, tears welling up instantly. She shook her head desperately, "Sister, I...I don't want to leave you..."

"Let's get going!"

Freya's hair covered her exposed skin, and her pupils turned vertical.

She glared at Elena and shoved her.

"Do we really have to be captured and sold into slavery?"

"If we don't leave now, it'll really be too late! Let's go!"

In order to buy her sister enough time to escape, Freya, under the influence of "atavism," revealed her sharp cat claws and charged towards the two slave hunters.

She knew she was no match for the two of them, but she could still manage to waste their time a little.

"You idiot, you're courting death!"

A hint of hatred flashed in the man's eyes. He swung his leather whip, kicking up clouds of dust on the ground.

Elena staggered a few steps, watching her sister rush towards them, tears streaming down her face, and ran forward desperately.

Her older sister stayed behind for her sake, and she was determined to run away.

With this belief, Elena didn't know how far she had run, but as she ran, her eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and an extremely strong drowsiness came over her.

Her vision went black, and she collapsed to the ground, appearing as if she were asleep.

In the jungle, the leaves rustled.

"Waaaaah~"

Several goblins came out, saw the orc lying on the ground, and, as if they had discovered spoils of war, jumped up and down with joy.

They surrounded the orc, lined up, carried him on their backs, and headed deeper into the forest.

Not long after.

Two slave hunters arrived on horseback.

Behind a slave hunter, Freya's "atavism" had been resolved; she was tied to a horse and had passed out.

Her body was covered in bloody streaks, and crimson blood dripped continuously onto the ground.

"That's strange, she ran this way."

"The arrow was coated with sleeping powder, that little bastard shouldn't have gotten very far."

The hunter's eyes scanned his surroundings, glancing at his companion.

"A beastman slave, especially a catgirl, can fetch an extremely high price. We absolutely cannot let her escape."

"We'll split up and search; we must find her!"

......

the other side.

Roan and Celia followed the goblins for a long time until they reached a wide valley deep in the forest.

Before them lay an astonishingly large goblin tribe.

The simple thatched huts are densely packed along the valley, and countless goblins roam the tribe.

Several goblin shamans, wielding bone staffs and wearing animal tooth necklaces, were sternly directing the goblins below them to move supplies.

There were the carcasses of hunted wild animals, crates stolen from human caravans, and many other goods, all piled up in the central open space.

Roan and Celia hid behind a high rock, looking down at the tribe.

He roughly estimated that the goblin population of this tribe was probably at least in the tens of thousands.

What an exaggerated concept!

The goblin horde that attacked Kanon Farm previously numbered only about seventy, yet it caused the farm a great deal of trouble.

If all the goblins in this tribe were to mobilize, the surrounding farms would likely be completely razed to the ground overnight, leaving nothing behind.

"Master, there are too many goblins here."

Celia was also astonished by the number of goblins in the tribe.

This reminded her of a less-than-pleasant memory from the past.

But that time, the number was much more exaggerated than what we see now.

Luo An nodded, his gaze never leaving the enormous thatched hut inside the tribe.

He noticed that two goblin shamans were respectfully carrying crispy roasted meat into the hut.

Unlike the other simple huts, this thatched hut had two huge animal bone pillars with carved patterns standing at the entrance, and dozens of burly goblin guards holding weapons around it.

This house is definitely a place where only the highest-ranking person in the tribe can live.

Could the Goblin Chieftain be inside?

A suspicion arose in Luo An's mind.

Time passed little by little.

The goblins in the tribe are busy preparing for the upcoming harvest day.

Just then, there was a commotion at the door of the thatched hut.

The two shamans walked out backwards, their posture even more humble than when they entered.

They retreated to the sides of the thatched hut and knelt down on one knee together with the burly goblins guarding the side.

An exceptionally robust figure emerged from the thatched hut.

They are completely different from ordinary goblins, and even from goblin shamans.

This goblin is more robust and taller.

He had broad shoulders, thick arms, and skin that was a deeper, darker green.

He was wearing a leather coat made of monster fur, a silver helmet, and a sword hanging at his waist.

Judging from the emblem on the scabbard, this sword appears to have been seized from a nobleman.

The goblin removed its helmet, revealing a very heroic face, and the goblin shaman beside it quickly stepped forward to take the helmet.

He surveyed the tribespeople with an innate air of nobility on his face.

He simply stood there, and the previously noisy goblins instantly fell silent, gathering around and kneeling before him.

Seeing the goblin's imposing manner, Luo An knew his guess was correct.

Celia said that lower-ranking goblins will unconditionally obey higher-ranking goblins.

The entire tribe, except for the goblin, knelt on one knee.

This goblin must be the goblin chieftain!
