Chapter 5: Pencil Boxes from Childhood Memories

After arriving at the platform where she was waiting for the train, Erina noticed that they were selling Shinkansen Yokohama Station limited edition bento boxes, so she excitedly bought two more.

However, after getting on the bus, she ate a few bites and was so full that she couldn't swallow anymore. She then claimed that she was "afraid that you would go hungry" and pushed all the food onto Yixing, who was so full that he kept burping.

"Are you alright?" Erina asked with concern. "Would you like me to rub your stomach?"

"No, no, no need—hiccup!"

"You said you didn't need it, why are you being so polite!"

Erina immediately placed her small hands on his stomach and gently massaged it.

That soft, gentle touch actually made Yixing feel much more comfortable.

"Young Miss, I feel much better now," Yixing said, moved. "My stomach was so bloated before, but now it feels like I haven't eaten anything at all."

"That's great!" Erina smiled and glanced at the train attendant pushing a cart into the carriage. "The limited-edition bento boxes sold at the station and in the carriage are different kinds, so why don't we buy two more to try?"

Yi Xing suddenly felt a sharp pain in his stomach.

"I was just saying it casually! Don't buy any more!"

Fortunately, Erina was just teasing him and didn't actually buy anything else.

Soon after, the young lady began to feel sleepy.

Even though she tried her best to stay awake so she could look at the scenery outside the window, she couldn't resist the sleepiness that was creeping in. Her eyes gradually became glazed over, and she started nodding off from time to time.

That is, when you are so sleepy that your head droops from time to time, but after a brief interruption of consciousness, it recovers and you have to force yourself to raise your head again.

Erina began to loop this process indefinitely. Yoshiyuki found it very interesting and cute, but out of concern, he chose to interrupt her.

"Young Miss, you look very sleepy. Why don't you take a nap?"

"No, I want to see the scenery." Erina, still half asleep, stubbornly insisted on staying awake.

"You're so sleepy, how are you going to enjoy Akihabara properly? We'll have plenty of opportunities to travel by train in the future, one more day won't make a difference. Come on, go to sleep, I'll wake you up when we get to our stop."

"Hmm..." Erina's tone was somewhat unwilling, but in the end she felt that Yoshiyuki's words made sense and chose to rest.

So she took off her shoes, curled up her petite body, and lay down, resting her head on his lap.

After changing her lying position several times and finding the most comfortable one, she quickly drifted off to sleep as Yixing gently stroked her long, snow-white hair.

Yoshiyuki was actually a little sleepy, but in order to avoid missing Akihabara Station, he forced himself to stay awake.

As the train began to slow down, the electronic announcement "Akihabara Station has arrived" sounded simultaneously.

Yixing gently patted the young lady's back, trying to wake her up.

"Young lady? Wake up, we've arrived in Akihabara."

"Ugh... um..." she mumbled groggily, turning over in her sleep.

"Young Miss! It's time for us to get off the bus!"

"Run, Yixing... I'll hold them off..."

He paused for a moment, listening to the young lady's mumbling in her sleep.

Then, she realized that Erina had dreamt that her family was being pursued.

Yoshiyuki felt a warmth in his heart and decided to take Erina away with him.

Amidst the curious glances of passersby, he carried the young lady on his back with one hand and dragged a suitcase with the other, walking out of the station.

Fortunately, the young lady woke up not long after.

"Huh...? Hey? Yoshiyuki, why are you carrying me?"

"That's because you were asleep and I couldn't wake you up no matter how much I called you!" Maekawa Yoshiyuki crouched down slightly, gently setting the young lady down, both amused and exasperated. "Look, this is the Akihabara you've been longing for!"

"Wow!" She looked around excitedly and realized that she was in a bustling pedestrian street. She started to tremble.

The streets are crowded with people, and you can see GG signs for ACG works and merchandise shops catering to anime and manga fans everywhere.

Cosplayers who are rarely seen on the streets elsewhere can be seen here from time to time.

Maid cafes are popping up all over the street. The maids at the closest cafe all wear cat ears and stand outside, handing out flyers and coupons to potentially interested customers and enthusiastically inviting them inside to experience the cafe.

Erina experienced being surrounded by skyscrapers for the first time.

Suddenly, I felt a little dizzy and disoriented.

"What do we do! We suddenly don't know where to go first!" Erina exclaimed excitedly, turning her head to look around before her gaze suddenly fixed on the arcade across the street. "Ah, I've got it! Let's go to the arcade! I've always wanted to go!"

"Shall we go then?" Yixing had no objection and followed the young lady with a smile.

"Hurry up, don't dawdle!" Erina couldn't wait any longer, so she grabbed his hand and ran faster.

The electronic sounds in the arcade were quite loud, and the lights and shadows were constantly flashing and changing. This made Erina, who had never seen anything like it before, pound her heart. She looked at the machines that she had no idea how to operate and the exciting images above her with great curiosity.

She looked around excitedly, but in the end, she focused her attention on the claw machine.

Erina's eyes lit up when she saw a dumpling-shaped doll inside.

"Wow..." She pressed her hands against the glass wall, stared at the white emoticon dumpling for a while, and then excitedly made this decision.

"This dumpling is so cute! Let's grab it out! Yixing, hurry up and put in the coins! I don't have any change."

"One hundred yen for three times, young lady. I've spent all my money on tickets, and this is all I have left in my wallet."

As Yi Xing spoke, he opened his wallet and poured the contents into his palm.

Only a few coins fell out, not even enough to make fifty yen.

"What should we do?" Erina asked anxiously.

Yi Xing recalled that he remembered that he could exchange change at the counter, so he took the young lady there.

After the young lady took out a large amount of banknotes and exchanged them for a handful of hundred-dollar coins, Yixing suddenly noticed something in the prize display area that instantly evoked childhood memories.

He was momentarily stunned.

"Let's go, Yoshiyuki!" Erina's cheerful voice interrupted my thoughts: "What are you looking at?"

"Oh, it's nothing."

"Come on, you're just attracted to something! Like how I'm drawn to dumplings!" Erina looked excitedly in the direction Yoshiyuki had been staring blankly, pointing her slender finger at a Tiga Ultraman-themed pencil case: "Could it be that?"

Unexpectedly, Erina discovered it, and Yoshiyuki Maekawa could only smile wryly and sigh.

"Yes. I saw some classmates using it when I was a kid. I really liked Ultraman Tiga back then, so it left a deep impression on me. Because it was a limited edition, it quickly went out of print. I never expected that after so long, it would be re-released."

"Huh? That kind of thing really happened?" Erina complained. "Honestly, why didn't you tell me?"
