Dark Eldar

38 The Profound Meaning of Our Ancestors

After returning to Fort Freyjord, Loki went to the village again to briefly explain Alyssa's situation to her family. The aunt first expressed her gratitude and support. She wanted Loki to stay with them, but a sorcerer like Loki, who appeared and disappeared without a trace, was unlikely to stay with ordinary people.

Before leaving, Loki quietly placed the original 17 cloud coins next to his aunt's pillow so she could buy some fruit or something. Elisa's father was an honest farmer, not a talkative man. He simply stood aside, exchanging polite words with his aunt.

"Everyone has their own mission to complete, and I must find out what's going on with Kevin Garney!" Loki muttered to himself.

Leaving the fortress went very smoothly. The same two dwarf brothers were on duty, and they didn't even look at Loki's newly issued "pass".

"Flying bread! Gone!"

"Flying bread! Gone!"

The younger brother always follows whatever the older brother says.

Continuing north, Loki didn't believe all maps were perfect. He decided to keep going; would he eventually reach Kevin Garney?

The freshwater river blocked his way, so Loki washed his feet and socks by the river. He looked around.

"Strange? I didn't see a bridge? Or chains."

He prepared to cross the river. He imagined surviving like his "ancestors," using the most primitive methods, experiencing and seeking the "mysteries of the ancients"! He would only use magic as a last resort. If he wanted to play around, he could easily eat the "magic bread" made by the guide and use the "alien" flying ability to float across the river—no problem at all. But Loki gave up on that; he decided to use the most primitive method—"swimming"!

Loki took off his jacket and short-sleeved shirt, revealing his muscular physique. He stuffed all his clothes into his backpack. With one hand raised above his head and the other in the water, he swam with difficulty, one stroke at a time.

In the middle, the river was swift, and Loki nearly choked on water! Adding to this, his artifact's density was extremely high, and Loki was on the verge of drowning! He considered giving up, but Loki desperately treaded the water! He pushed forward! He held on! Finally, he reached the shore. Loki hadn't expected that crossing a river was so difficult for the "First Men"...

After getting dressed, we continued our hike.

"Why is there no bridge over this river? Did I not find one?" Loki wondered as he walked.

"No! I followed the main road, and it seems the people from the fortress have never left the fortress. So, what if I send Alyssa to such a far place to learn priestly magic? Will that be okay?" Loki had a bad feeling.

"after all?"

The villagers' exploration abilities? And why did everyone inside the fortress refuse to leave? These questions puzzled and baffled Loki.

If Loki were trapped here, even if he didn't become a wizard, he would definitely leave this fortress!

"Many questions in the world still have no answers and need to be explored by ourselves! Even if you invite a 'sage' from another world here, he still cannot explain them clearly."

"They would say things like, 'Let me think about it, let me think about it.'"

The journey was incredibly boring! Loki could only continue as before, conversing with his own "consciousness"...

"Are you going to question the elder? What will the elder say?" Loki mimicked the elder's mannerisms.

He'll say, "Oh! I see. I understand." But if you ask again, he'll say, "Think about it yourself."

Loki practically brought the otherworldly elder to life! It was as if he were sitting right in front of him!

As darkness fell, Loki needed to find a place to stay. Perhaps the "Red-Eyed Alien" still cared for Loki...
