Dark Eldar
124 Flashtown
"Flashtown," an ancient town steeped in history. The townspeople take pride in their proximity to the other world, possessing a unique sense of superiority. Records indicate that Master "Moore" (the seventh Grand Elder of the other world) settled here after his retirement, remaining there until his death. The name "Flashtown" also commemorates Moore's "Flashball" (an ancient, high-intensity, instant-cast magic, now lost).
"Hello! Wizards, welcome to the Shimmering Inn!" A hospitable middle-aged Aborigine man stood at the bar to greet Loki and Edward. The inn was quite large, and the other guests were all doing their own thing. Various professional heroes were present, and even the elders were met with indifference.
"Same as always! Two superior rooms! A steak set meal of your choice, deducted from my balance, the password is 124***!" Loki often traveled from Shimmering Town, so he got a "membership card" at this inn! It was the kind where you get 25 free for every 20 gold coins you top up. Loki didn't top up much; he remembered he topped up 50 gold. As for how much he had left? How many more times could he use it? When Loki left the next day, the innkeeper, Uncle John, would give him a receipt... (Innkeeper John didn't know Loki's real name; the name on the membership card was "George," Loki's usual alias. In special circumstances, Loki would disguise himself. He even used "Edward" once. He didn't intend to scam Edward; that time, he genuinely needed to use Edward's name to do something...)
The "Shining" Inn is doing good business! The otherworldly "magical defense barrier" is nearby, attracting many "guests" between levels 5-30, including quite a few dwarves. Some are there for "sightseeing," while others are there to "enter the otherworld." However, that's not easy... Ordinary cultivators and monsters cannot enter the otherworld to cultivate without an invitation. Even if one reaches level 20 through monster hunting, quests, or opening treasure chests (for books and skills), if their aptitude is mediocre, the otherworld will absolutely not accept them... (It mainly depends on initial talent! Primarily traditional and rare!)
"I am born with inexhaustible strength! Who dares to challenge me!" (Roar)
A green-skinned orc was seen drinking beer and showing off at the inn! However, due to his excessively loud voice, he had already been arrested by the sheriff. (The armed forces in the villages near this other world are extremely strong. The sheriffs are mostly retired guards, furnace managers, or otherworldly fodder handlers. Although they only do odd jobs in this other world, they are all capable fighters in ordinary places! (Maintaining order is a high-paying and highly sought-after job...)
"Wow! No way? Level 42?" Benjamin exclaimed in surprise as he was eating his steak.
It turns out he inadvertently glimpsed the rank of the sheriff of Flashtown!
"Oh, that's nothing! I've even seen level 55 sheriffs! Not in Shimmering Town, but in Nar Town to the north. They share double experience in this other world year after year, leveling up without doing anything. However, they don't have any skills... just simple increases in strength, agility, and armor. This kind of 'surplus experience' is different from heroes; there's no intelligence option. So, becoming a warrior is barely acceptable, and becoming a mage? That won't work!" Loki finished speaking and took a big gulp of pure malt beer. The day's fatigue dissipated with the evaporation of this ice-cold pure malt beer, and Loki felt much more relaxed! With the slow country rock music playing in the inn, Loki felt even more carefree.
After hearing Loki's words, Benjamin VI also took a sip of malt beer.
"If Loki hadn't told me, I would have been really scared! If he were truly a level 40+ mage serving as a sheriff? I wouldn't believe it either!"
After dinner, Loki said goodbye to Benjamin and went upstairs to rest.
Following Loki's instructions from the afternoon, Ming quickly finished the last plate of pasta while it was still hot. He then went to the notice board in Shimmering Town to check the "Grey Mission" (Low-level).
Generally speaking, gray tasks are unnecessary, especially for people like Loki and Benjamin who have already become high-level mages.
"Since Brother Loki has suggested it, I might as well accept it all. Killing some wild boars and bandits will be doing a service to the people!" the current ruler thought to himself. He then accepted it all.
