"A giant beast lurks beneath the sea!"

Neil took a deep breath, and the moment he realized this, he swam back to the island without hesitation.

He certainly wouldn't naively believe that Norse mythology only features giant beasts like eagles, or that in a world where almost 70% of the land is sea, it would be strange if there were no monsters in the ocean.

Seemingly sensing Neil's reaction, the giant beast suddenly accelerated its ascent, and as the shadow grew larger, the surrounding seawater surged violently.

Neil swam rapidly, glancing back every now and then. He could see a dorsal fin, over four meters tall and larger than two of him, emerging from the sea and approaching at a visible speed.

To a behemoth, NieR is not much different from an ant on a physical level.

Normally, they can't outrun each other, let alone on the other side's home turf.

Seeing that he was about to be caught up, Neil quickly thought of a plan and immediately remotely controlled the second arrow tower to fire.

He is currently 400 meters directly opposite the second arrow tower, while the behemoth is 450 meters away; both are within his attack range.

From the arrow slit, streaks of blue light shot out, falling in arcs and exploding into electric balls on the sea behind Neil.

The lightning rune is most effective on the sea surface; even a single strike can cause widespread damage, not to mention a continuous rain of arrows.

The giant beast with dorsal fins only wanted to eat a dessert, but it didn't expect the opponent to be able to deal damage, and its swift swimming speed suddenly stopped.

The distance that was constantly shrinking has widened again, and Neil has now approached the second arrow tower at a distance of 350 meters.

We were only 50 meters away from getting ashore.

I've seen similar monsters in low-budget horror movies before, and I used to wonder why the main characters were afraid of such a ridiculous thing.

But when he saw it directly, the instinctive fear made his pupils contract instantly.

As the sound echoed, runic light flashed momentarily in the four pupils of the giant shark's two heads.

Immediately afterwards, a burst of light erupted, and its two-headed body suddenly split apart. One ten-meter-long great white shark was still taking damage in place, while the other burst out with astonishing speed and approached Neil once again.

390 meters! 370 meters! 350 meters!

Neil is now 30 meters from the shore, but the giant shark is right next to him, seemingly ready to swallow him whole at any moment!

Neil immediately shifted the attack range of the second arrow tower, unleashing a barrage of blue arrows and bursting electric orbs that blocked the great white shark.

But the side that was taking damage got a chance to catch its breath. Before Neil could relax, it also burst out with amazing speed and closed in in an instant.

Almost the instant Neil stepped onto the shore, a huge shark leaped from the sea and crashed down on him!

The moment he stepped onto the shore, Neil didn't hesitate and activated the third arrow tower to fire!

With a range of 500 meters, the third arrow tower could not strike the sea surface directly opposite the second arrow tower, but it could just support the shore 300 meters away!

A barrage of arrows shot out, not exploding like they would on the sea surface, but piercing straight into the gaping maw of the giant shark.

With a deafening roar and a desperate, unwilling scream, the great white shark crashed to the ground and fell silent.

Ignoring the exhaustion from his frantic run while firing a hail of arrows, Neil continued his race towards the forest, only managing to catch his breath once he reached the support range of the first arrow tower.

Turning his head to look at the great white shark, a hint of excitement appeared in his eyes as he thought about the resource points and new runes he could gain.

But before he could truly be happy, the great white shark on the shore collapsed and dissipated, turning into streaks of light and returning to the body of another giant shark on the other side of the sea.

The light shifted, and it transformed back into a two-headed giant shark. Although its imposing presence had clearly diminished, it was still alive.

Filled with resentment and anger, the two-headed shark roared at Winterfell Island before turning and leaving.

Neil was somewhat taken aback by what he saw.

He checked the panel but didn't see any new runes added, and killing the great white shark didn't drop any resource rewards.

And the 14 resource points that had been swallowed up were completely gone, causing his expression to twitch involuntarily.

Damn, all that work for nothing!

But Slud clearly had a different opinion.

"It actually managed to repel the two-headed shark. This position is much more useful than I imagined." She floated to Neil's side and said with some emotion.

She had been watching closely when Neil was in trouble, and had even raised her right hand to draw runes in the air, but she didn't expect Neil to be able to react so quickly.

"This is a giant beast that can enter the country when it is an adult, and it will be comparable to a heroic spirit or a half-giant. Although this one looks a little short of age, it can still hunt four or five giant eagles on its own."

Taking a deep breath, and after receiving another round of gentle comfort from the Valkyrie, Neil's mindset had almost fully recovered.

He smiled and thanked him, preparing for another round of fried fish, when he suddenly sensed a suffocating atmosphere.

He paused, then turned to look in the direction of the Evil Dragon Pirates.

The previously blurry black dot suddenly became clear.

Even with his mortal eyesight, he could vaguely make out the outline of the ship.

"They sped up."

"At this rate, they'll probably arrive here tonight."
