Nordic: I Created a Forbidden Land for the Gods
Chapter 13 "Guidance"
"Summoning" is a rune that Odin bestowed upon the Valkyries.
Even if separated by thousands of miles, there will be some kind of invisible connection, allowing for summons and meetings to be held and orders to be given.
It exhibits a mandatory hierarchical structure.
However, its strategic significance cannot be denied; at least for now, Slud can receive assistance through this rune.
"The runes belong directly to the Father God. I cannot speak with my other sisters, and the Father God would never personally handle such a trivial matter."
"However, we are in a meeting right now. I can ask to pass a message to the other sisters. If any of them are in or near the Ice Sea, they can come and help immediately."
"Although arriving at the fastest speed would be quite taxing, I can promise to compensate you after I recover, which will be my way of repaying Neil for saving me."
Slud's eyes sparkled, revealing a resolute look.
Almost as soon as the old man on the throne finished speaking and was about to end the gathering, she immediately raised her hand and spoke.
"Father God, I have a request and hope you can help me."
On the throne, the white-haired old man paused, his gaze immediately focusing on Slud.
His indifferent eyes revealed impatience, but upon seeing the more ethereal spirit than the others, he hesitated for a moment before speaking:
"Speak."
Slud nodded immediately, suppressing the excitement in her heart, and gave a brief and concise explanation of her current predicament.
"Just this little thing?"
"You just need to use that mortal as bait and find an opportunity to leave on your own."
"We don't need anyone else's help. Once our injuries have healed, we can wipe out those pirates."
Upon hearing that Slud and a mortal were trapped on a small island in the icy sea, and that they were about to encounter only a group of half-giant pirates, the white-haired old man frowned and said this.
Slud remained silent.
After a moment, he spoke again:
"I know the Father God, but I think this would damage the reputation of the Aesir."
"What honor is there in abandoning those who helped me for my own selfish desires? How is that any different from being a heretic?"
"Honor belongs only to those who have the strength. As long as we win the war against the giants, even if all mortals die because of us, we will still shine brightly in history."
"Countless years later, when the ants that were once ruled have multiplied again, they will still worship and kneel before us."
Odin's voice was like thunder, shaking the very air.
His one eye stared at Slud, looking at his daughter who, though silent, still revealed a stubbornness, and his brows furrowed even deeper.
He seemed not to understand why his foolish daughter would rebel against him for something so obvious.
After a moment, he spoke again:
"Fine, if you don't want this outcome, I can offer you another method."
Slud was taken aback, then quickly thanked Father God, her beautiful face beaming with joy.
She felt that her father finally understood her.
But upon hearing what followed, her expression froze again, and her gaze turned incredulous.
"If you don't want to desert your post against a mere half-giant, then I will now grant you a sacrificial rune."
"Use it to sacrifice that island and the mortals, so that after recovering from your injuries, you can defeat them."
……
……
"What happened to Slud?"
Ice Sea, Winter Island.
Neil had originally wanted to discuss with the Valkyrie how to deal with the pirate crew, but when he turned around and saw the light flowing around her, as if her soul had left her body, he was somewhat stunned.
He was unsure of what had happened and was somewhat wary, but Slud's current state didn't seem to pose a danger to him. After a moment's thought, he turned his attention to other matters.
He raised his hand and immediately the panel opened, displaying a dazzling array of records.
Skipping over unnecessary content, he went straight to his own entry.
Name: Neil
Race: Mortal
[Level: 0]
Attack Power: 0
[Faith Points: 0]
[Resource: 523]
[Blueprint: wooden houses, farmland, arrow towers, fishing nets, and pits]
[Runes: Lightning Lv1, Sharpness Lv1, Reproduction Lv1, Split Lv1, Armor Lv1, Treasure Hunting Lv1]
To deal with the two-headed shark, he built two rune buildings and wrote a rune.
Although the money was all used to upgrade Winterfell's defenses and was part of his plan, the continuous heavy losses in a short period of time were really painful for him.
His original resource points were almost gone.
Fortunately, it was all worth it. It not only solved one problem, but also increased the number of stored resources by more than 100.
In addition to "Split", two new runes were extracted from the prey killed and added to the account.
A bumper harvest!
"Although the power of the two fishing nets on the reefs was exhausted due to the outbreak, they are now ineffective."
"But that doesn't mean it can't be used anymore, since runes can be automatically recharged."
"Even if it wasn't fully charged when the Evil Dragon Pirates arrived, it can still play a certain role."
Thinking of this, Neil turned to look into the distance, and sure enough, the pirate ship was getting much closer.
The blurry outline became very clear.
Based on the speed, distance, and the size we see now, it is estimated to be a huge ship about 100 meters long.
The oak boat was covered with eerie and terrifying blue and red patterns, making the whole boat look like a giant sea monster.
What drew Neil's attention most was the mast leaning against the deck. The tattered flag at the top was not clearly visible to a mortal, but it made him feel as if he were being watched by a dragon. Each contraction of his pupils made his heart skip a beat.
"According to the estimate, it should arrive in another half day, around dusk."
"Even if we don't want to, we'll have to face them when the time comes."
Neil was on edge.
Actually, he didn't have much of a real feeling about the pirate crew before, since he had never really faced them. Even if he knew about their bloody deeds, it was only through Slud's retelling.
But as they drew closer, Neil could clearly see that the pirate ship was indeed hunting a giant beast.
Watching powerful monsters being sacrificed one after another, some of which managed to escape temporarily through rune power, only to be immediately captured and screamed in agony.
Neil had no choice but to abandon all hope and, with the worst in mind, devote himself entirely to the construction of Winterfell.
Taking a deep breath, Neil turned his gaze to the pit blueprint on the panel.
This is another defensive fortification he recently acquired. Although it was useless against the two-headed shark, that's because the shark's home ground is in the sea.
Even if you set it up, you can't prevent the fish from falling into the pit.
But the pirate crew will definitely come ashore to sacrifice Winterfell, and then they will have a chance to prove their worth.
Furthermore, Neil discovered that, compared to arrow towers, pits had an unparalleled advantage.
If configured correctly, even a group of half-giants could be powerful.
Neil was confident he could teach them a lesson!
