Wizard: I can predict the future
Chapter 39 Back Corner Alley
As Nord walked out of the classroom, he couldn't help but wonder what Professor Dylan was thinking.
Is it simply a matter of unwillingness to teach, or is there a deeper meaning behind it?
If they are unwilling to teach, then Ash Academy probably won't ignore them.
After all, Ash Academy recruits so many wizard trainees to cultivate a fighting force, not to let them fend for themselves.
But if there is a deeper meaning, then what is it?
Unfortunately, the information we have so far is still too scarce, and everything is just speculation.
And so, he soon arrived at the library.
The entire library is a stone tower that is tens of meters high.
I had just stepped through the doorway.
He then saw Gray coming out from inside.
"Grey."
Nord stepped forward and briefly recounted what had happened in the potions class.
Gray was the only local wizard apprentice from the Southern Region that he met at Ash Academy. More importantly, the other party was very gossipy and knew a lot of inside information.
Is Professor Dylan's condition normal?
Gray's expression didn't change much after hearing this.
He nodded.
"That's normal. I've heard that at least half of the professors in the college are like that."
He spoke casually, as if he were talking about something he had long taken for granted.
"It's not that no one has reported it, but no one has received a response."
Nord nodded.
"I see."
After saying goodbye to Gray, he went into the library.
The interior of the library was very spacious.
There are no bookshelves here.
There were only individual cubicles against the wall, filled with all sorts of books.
It was a series of steps that went up in a circle, with dozens of tables and chairs placed in the center.
Perhaps because it was getting late, there weren't many people in the library.
At the entrance, there was a long wooden table with a crystal ball on it.
A middle-aged woman with red hair and blue eyes was sitting there.
"Hello, I'm Ramona, the librarian here."
"The data on the first floor of the library is open to all students in the college, but the data on the second floor and above requires college points."
"If you need to borrow books, just bring the crystal and I'll make a copy for you."
After saying that, she turned and left, as if it were just a routine matter.
Nord didn't pay any attention and walked towards the area labeled Potions.
His gaze swept across the wall.
Introduction to Basic Magical Plants in the Southern Region (Part 1)
Introduction to Basic Biology of the Southern Region, Part 1
Analysis of the activity of low-level magical plants.
"Introduction to Potion Purification"
Common Auxiliary Materials and Stabilizers.
……
There are only about thirty books, and most of the content focuses on the most basic identification and processing.
There is no record of any witchcraft model.
Nord frowned slightly.
He then turned around and strode towards the elemental area.
There were clearly more books on the bookshelf.
Fire Element Basic Runes.
Basic Runes for the Wind Element
The principle of element resonance.
Magic and the Elements.
……
However, no books address the concept of witchcraft.
He then glanced briefly at the other areas.
Construction, Enchantment, Mysticism.
Without exception.
All of them are the most basic books.
Nord looked away.
The first layer probably only contains the most basic books.
Once it involves advanced techniques, then it requires exchanging points from the academy.
However, he still had some questions.
Why not just open up higher-level knowledge directly?
Wouldn't it be easier for them to learn and for them to be nurtured in this way?
Is there some other problem with doing this?
The thought flashed through his mind, and he remembered two great truths of the wizarding world.
"Could it be related to equivalent exchange?"
Unable to figure it out, Nord didn't think much of it.
He turned and walked toward the administrator, Ramona, to prepare to copy all the books.
After all, it's free.
"Hello, may I have a copy of all the books on the first floor?"
Upon hearing this, Ramona simply looked up at him.
"Bring the crystal ball over here."
Nord handed her the crystal ball.
A short while later, Ramona returned the crystal ball to him.
"alright."
As she watched Nord walk out of the library, Ramona muttered to herself:
"Another little brat who lacks self-awareness."
"Wasting time on other books will lead to regret when the junior high exams come around in three years."
Her voice was soft, but it did not escape Nord's ears.
But he didn't go up to explain, nor did he want to.
The sun had not yet set.
Nord didn't return to the dormitory; instead, he went to collect his monthly allowance of three magic stones.
Back in the dorm, Gray wasn't there.
He didn't pay any attention to it.
He took out the crystal ball and immersed his mental energy into it.
All I could see in my mind was the original map of the college and the covers of nearly a thousand books laid out before me.
In the past few days, Nord has learned that the crystal ball distributed by the academy is more similar to the smartphone from his previous life.
Unfortunately, this crystal ball is the most basic type, capable of storing only simple information.
It is said that more advanced crystal balls can not only measure a wizard's physical condition and mental strength, but also communicate with other crystal balls.
He quickly sorted and organized the books.
Without delay, I immersed myself in the introduction to the magical plant.
Several hours passed.
Nord opened his eyes.
In books on potion-making, he found information about moonflower and methods for extracting the essence of magical plants during the early stages of an apprenticeship.
They are basically the same as what Professor Dylan said.
However, there is one point that Professor Dylan did not mention.
That is, the Moonflower has very little magical energy, and it constantly flows between the meridians.
Once cut carelessly, the essence of moonflower will dissipate instantly and cannot be preserved at all.
One must accurately perceive the energy channels, guide and intercept them, in order to extract a complete and effective essence.
Nord didn't believe Professor Dylan was unaware of this.
The fact that this point was deliberately omitted is probably a trap left unsaid.
This is not only a test of their talent, but also a test of their ability to proactively acquire information.
The second day of the Potions course.
The professor didn't explain any wizarding knowledge; instead, he talked about his adventures.
Even so, the reservists present listened with great interest.
Nord listened very attentively as well.
However, he was not interested in the professor's background.
He was more curious about the magical creatures and their abilities.
After leaving, he headed straight for Back Corner Alley with a clear goal in mind.
Back Corner Alley is filled with all sorts of shops, and more importantly, they are mostly geared towards wizarding apprentices.
You can buy moonflowers and the tools for extracting them there.
The extraction of magical plants cannot be accomplished using ordinary tools.
The tools and containers used to cut moonflower must be infused with mithril to ensure that its inherent properties are not compromised.
Most magical plant artifacts require the addition of mithril.
Even the slightest deviation will cause the medicinal properties to be lost, or even cause abnormalities.
In many cases, extraction involves much more than just simple cutting.
It also requires the use of crucibles, special magical artifacts, or even magic circles to refine, separate, and stabilize it.
