Wizard: I can predict the future
Chapter 30 Noxia
"Noxia, though they prefer to call me the Arbiter."
Noxia's voice was low, as if she was recalling some unpleasant response.
"And you?"
"Nord Blank"
Noxia nodded.
Her gaze lingered on the tattered card for a moment, but she didn't reach out to take it.
"Keep this card; it might come in handy."
Nord put the cards away and said to Noxus:
"Let's go."
"However, I would like to know your plans."
Noxia glanced at him but didn't ask any questions.
Just nodded.
"Can."
She turned and walked outside.
"Go to the southern part of the outer city first, and enter the Dark Side from there."
"There's a card in there that shouldn't be there."
Nord did not interrupt.
Noxia continued:
"We need it; without it, we simply cannot reach our goal with our current capabilities."
"After you get that card, go back to the inner city."
"Take care of Lady Red Heart first."
"Only by seizing her authority can we resist interference."
When Nord heard about Lady Heart from Noxia, he paused slightly, but quickly resumed his normal pace.
Noxia did not notice.
Soon, the two left the inner city.
The outer city remained in chaos.
Before they had even crossed a single street, they encountered two groups fighting.
However, neither Nord nor the other person were found.
Perhaps because night was approaching, there weren't as many paper figures in the outer city as before, making their passage much smoother.
Nord asked as he walked:
"and then?"
Noxia's gaze was forward; she did not turn back.
"Then I killed the Plum Blossom Magician."
"He is the absolute orderkeeper of Poker City, and he will definitely come to stop us once we enter the palace."
"Finally, we will be able to go to the palace, and then you can find your way out."
Nord listened to Noxia's plan, but his mind was filled with many thoughts.
Lady Heart.
He thought of a second simulation.
He had just entered the inner city when he encountered Lady Heart.
There was no resistance, and they didn't even know how they died.
The Plum Blossom Magician, who is on par with the Lady of Hearts, is probably quite skilled.
And so, the two of them hid and fled, and soon arrived at the southern district of the outer city.
Looking at the scene before me.
Nord felt the scene before him becoming more and more familiar.
His gaze fell upon the tattered playing card at the end of the alley, a card that refused to heal.
He finally remembered where he was.
That wasn't a simple breakage; otherwise, Poker City would have repaired it long ago.
Beyond the cards lay a pitch-black, bottomless void.
It's like another world that has been forcibly turned over.
Nord's gaze narrowed slightly.
"Are we just going to continue like this?"
He could clearly remember that the horror inside was nothing like what he was seeing now.
Noxia shook her head.
"In the shadows, there exist countless unlicensed individuals who harbor resentment towards the paper figures who possess identity cards."
"Once they spot them, they'll swarm in and kill them all."
He then took out two blank cards and handed one of them to Nord.
"This is an unnamed cover; wearing it on your chest can conceal the card's identity."
"If we go down there, they will see us as their comrades."
Nord took the nameless mask and wore it on his chest.
A flash of white light appeared, but nothing unusual happened.
Then look at Noxia.
She also wore the nameless mask on her chest, and then a white light flashed.
The spade pattern and numbers on his chest had completely disappeared without a trace, and even the black lines on his body had become less noticeable.
Noxia glanced at the nameless patch on Nord's chest.
"You can go down now."
After saying that, she flipped over and jumped into the gap in the playing cards.
Nord quickly followed.
There was no feeling of falling at the moment of jumping.
It was as if the person had been flipped from the front of a card to the back.
His body sank slightly, but he quickly regained his balance.
Nord instinctively crouched down, his eyes quickly scanning the surroundings.
Behind them, there was still a gaping hole.
The sky today is a bottomless abyss that you can see right in front of you.
And from time to time, things fall into the sky from the ground they are standing on.
It was as if the whole world had been turned upside down.
Upside down, directions out of order.
Nord stood on the ground and didn't feel any falling at all; this feeling was strange and hard to describe.
The surroundings were eerily quiet, with no unlicensed individuals appearing nearby.
He looked at Noxia.
"No unlicensed individuals?"
The other person also frowned.
"No, this place should normally be packed with unlicensed people."
Her gaze suddenly darkened, as if she had thought of something.
"not good!"
As she spoke, she sped off in one direction.
Seeing this, Nord quickly followed.
The entire dark side resembled a plain, and was surprisingly large.
They ran continuously for more than ten minutes.
At Nord's speed, he estimated that he had already run at least several dozen kilometers.
Along the way, he didn't see any buildings, or even any living creatures.
Suddenly.
He saw a faint light source coming from ahead.
And the sounds of fighting.
The two quickly slowed down and approached slowly.
Soon, the view at the edge of the field of vision became clear.
It was a pyramid made of playing cards.
At the very top is a playing card emitting a faint glow.
And below the pyramid.
A figure is committing a one-sided massacre.
Those without licenses kept pouring in from all directions.
The vast majority were cut off or crumpled into a ball before they even got close.
Then, it fell towards the sky.
There is no end, no echo.
Only a small number were able to get close enough to attack the killers.
The man stood in the center of the open space.
His robes were made up of layers of cards with sharp edges, which swayed slightly with his movements.
The cuffs were wide, yet one could vaguely see cards being generated within them.
He wore a tall top hat with slightly curled edges, and his face was covered by a half-covered plum blossom mask.
Only the lower half of his face was visible, with a faint smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
As he kept raising his hand.
Several cards were generated from the cuff, transforming into sharp lines that flew out and cut directly into the body of the cardless individual, completely dismantling its structure.
Each time he kills an unlicensed player, a wisp of grayish-white aura is drawn away and absorbed by him.
Along with this, the gaps in his body were slowly filled in.
Noxia stared at the figure, her paper knuckles clicking.
Her breathing became extremely light, yet she couldn't suppress the slight tremor.
"Cast..."
The two words, when uttered by her, seemed to carry a sharp edge.
Her gaze, however, remained fixed on the other person.
It's as if they're trying to tear the face off under that mask.
A moment later, she suddenly let out a cold laugh.
The voice was soft, yet it carried an undisguised hatred.
"You haven't changed."
"Your all-knowing gaze is really annoying."
