Lord of Mysteries: The Color of the Stars

Chapter 8: The Aurora Society is going to suffer a lot.

Along the way, Julian bought some materials needed for ritual magic. As soon as he got home, he went back to his bedroom and started searching for them.

Soon, he found a retractable magnifying glass made of brass and crystal lenses in his luggage from Rembrandt.

This item is called "The Scholar's Legacy," a magical artifact that corresponds to the extraordinary trait of "The Knower," Sequence 7 of the "Reader" pathway.

Unlike ordinary sealed artifacts, it has been contaminated by the power of "Star Colors", which can be seen from the faint shimmering light on its surface, as if it had been quenched.

In fact, this is a magical item made from the extraordinary characteristics of the "Keeper of Knowledge" that Julian extracted before his transmigration and after the original owner's death.

This item has three main functions: first, it can store knowledge from various sources; second, it can help the holder improve their thinking and observation skills.

The third is to analyze and reconstruct the truth of events that have occurred within a certain area. As long as the conditions are met, even extraordinary events can be reconstructed.

As for the side effects, it cannot be used for more than 30 minutes, otherwise it will cause the user to fall into sensory and emotional confusion.

But Julian took it out not to use it, but to conduct an experiment to verify some ideas!

To guard against potential harm, Julian must first perform a protective ritual magic.

He closed the doors and windows, set up a small altar, drew a special magic circle on it, and then took out two candles from the paper bag he had just brought home.

One of the candles is deep black, made from night-blooming jasmine, deep sleep flower, and other herbs, symbolizing the night.

The other one is crimson, made from moonflower, deep red sandalwood, and other ingredients, and in mysticism symbolizes the identity of the "Crimson Lord," the "Goddess of the Night."

He placed the black candle on the upper left of the altar and the red candle on the upper right.

After doing all this, Julian took out a third candle and placed it at the bottom of the altar.

This candle is plain white, infused with peppermint and rose essential oils, both of which are favored and cherished by goddesses.

After doing all this, Julian took out a small amount of "Full Moon Oil," a large, pure black cauldron, a silver dagger commonly used in ritual magic, water, and coarse salt from his occult material library, and placed them in the most suitable place.

Finally, he found a seemingly ordinary transparent crystal ball with many ancient Hermesian incantations engraved on its bottom and placed it in the very center of the altar.

In this way, the altar was set up.

Julian lit all the candles in a clockwise direction and then used coarse salt and other materials to create an empty "spiritual wall".

The next second, he respectfully recited aloud:

"The goddess of the night, more sublime than the stars, more eternal than eternity, the crimson lord, the hidden mother, the queen of calamity and fear, the lord of slumber and silence!"

"I beg for your attention, I beg for your listening, I beg for your favor."

"Please grant me protection for my next attempt..."

Suddenly, all three candles flickered, as if a gentle breeze had suddenly stirred in the secret room.

Whether it was Julian's imagination or not, the setting sun outside and even the strange light that surrounded him seemed to have dimmed a bit.

At the same time, Julian's mind became focused and calm, which greatly dispelled the tension and unease that had lingered in him, and gave him the courage to continue trying.

Holding the "Scholar's Legacy," Julian infused the object with his spirituality, then opened the lens and aimed it at the white crystal ball in the center of the altar.

I, in my name, pray:

"The splendor from beyond the stars, the master of color, is present within me!"

"I beseech your favor, I implore you to show your power..."

Only then did Julian dare to use the ancient Hermes language to recite some key words of prayer that the original owner had recorded before his sudden death from contamination.

If it weren't for the protection he had received from the "Goddess of the Night," he would never have dared to utter these words again.

As he chanted, Julian's body once again shone with a neon-like radiance.

The light flowed through the lens of the "Scholar's Legacy" and then shone on the crystal ball, instantly dyeing it the same color.

The neon colors, like flowing colors sealed within a crystal ball, moved according to Julian's will, but could not escape the crystal ball.

Of course, only he, as the "Four-Colored Awakener," could see all of this.

"...It really works!"

He immediately became excited.

This special crystal ball is a unique magical item from the Church of the "God of Knowledge and Wisdom." It is often used to separate and trap mystical contamination within sealed objects or even the spiritual body of a person. It can also detect potential contamination within certain relics.

By using the "Scholar's Legacy's" ability to reconstruct occult events and the "Starry Night" power it contains, Julian recreated the time he was corrupted, except this time the object of corruption was the crystal ball instead of himself.

This means that Julian can use the "Scholar's Legacy" to corrupt certain people or supernatural objects, and then use his occult connection with the "Starry Night" to manipulate these corrupted beings.

Most importantly, the risk factor of this whole process does not seem to be very high. As long as he recites the goddess's name in advance, he can safely replicate this type of event.

"That's where things get interesting."

As Julian dispelled the "spiritual wall" and blew out the candles, the light in his field of vision returned to normal once again.

"Why not use this ability? Maybe I should go find those guys from the Aurora Society and have some fun?"

Once the thought appeared, it was impossible to control. Julian thought that the followers of the "True Creator" polluted this and persecuted that all day long. He was curious about what would happen if those guys were also exposed to pollution.

Julian found it amusing just to think about it.

"...But if I'm going to do that, shouldn't I report it to Ariana?"

"This feels a bit troublesome. Let's put this matter aside for now and finish up the more important things at hand first."

Julian checked the condition of his revolver and demon-hunting bullets one last time. After dark, he picked up the "Scholar's Legacy" once more, went out, and boarded the last public carriage, heading towards Riel Bieber's residence...

On the other side, Iron Cross Street.

Thump!

"Knock knock!"

Klein, who had already fallen asleep, was awakened by a sudden knock on the door.

He sat up abruptly, glanced at the sunrise outside the window, and then asked, somewhat bewildered:

Who is it?
