Game of Thrones: The Black Dragon King
Chapter 14 Dragon
It's generally not the case that ordinary people get something for nothing; otherwise, there would definitely be a catch inside.
Previously, Pardara had received some kind of letter, and even though they were halfway back, he promised Reid's men a box of gold coins, which made them wander around the wasteland a few more times.
Compared to the first time he collected money, the second time there was significantly less resistance. Since he was already there, he figured he might as well make the money anyway.
Then, as expected, something unexpected happened.
In the desolate area near Meereen, in a hollow filled with palm trees, was the last so-called "suspicious area" that Pardara was asked to search with his troops in the letter. It did look like a place where people could hide. Reed felt a little strange but didn't have time to think too much about it and sent his men into the woods to search.
After that, they were surrounded on all sides by three thousand Immaculate Ones.
The cannon fodder force that Reid had recruited earlier, composed of rescued prisoners and slaves, was routed and routed under the attack of the Unsullied.
"Damn it! They really think highly of me!" Reed muttered. Three thousand Unsullied, that was the number used in the Battle of Kohol. Subtracting the 1,400-plus troops, does that mean I alone am worth 48600 centaurs?
The forces we have on the surface are no match for their trump card. If we don't have any hidden cards, we're really going to lose today.
Therefore, sometimes, having a trump card is really important.
Reid opened the panel, clicked on the operation, and the one million golden dragons disappeared like flowing water, while the vivid black dragon icon immediately came back to life.
In the rear guard, Reid's soldiers immediately noticed the change in identity and turned their swords on their former "comrades." More than two hundred city defense cavalry and mounted overseers were surrounded.
It will take a while for the Unsullied's ranks to advance, but before that, Reid's elite troops are capable of wiping them out.
The tense situation triggered Pardara to scream like a frightened young wife: "They abandoned me! My uncle, Kratz, he abandoned me!"
Reed picked at his ear with his finger, then glanced at him.
The latter immediately covered his mouth, trembling as he tried to control his voice and minimize his presence.
"I can let you go back."
"!"
"I'm not joking, it's true." As he spoke, Reed looked into the distance again. Many of his newly recruited cannon fodder subordinates chose to lay down their weapons and kneel down to surrender, but they were still stabbed to death by the expressionless Unsullied with spears.
This ruthless approach, leaving no survivors, either indicates an conviction about something or an attempt to cover something up.
"There must be some misunderstanding! I don't know why they attacked you, I really don't know, they didn't tell me anything, really!" Pardara swallowed hard, trying to straighten his tongue, his mind racing: "There must be some misunderstanding! If you give up now and choose to surrender, I will plead with my uncle and ask him to use his influence to find out the truth and clear up the misunderstanding."
"Hiss~!" A hiss suddenly came from the distant sky.
The black figure approached from afar, transforming from an inconspicuous shadow high in the sky to a colossal creature right before their eyes. Its massive, sky-covering form cast a huge shadow on the ground, engulfing the two sides locked in battle.
The sudden darkness caused everyone to look up at the sky.
Each flap of its enormous, demonic bat wings whipped up a gust of wind that made it hard to stand, raising countless grains of sand.
A massive, jet-black dragon flapped its wings and slowly descended behind Reed.
Its 100-meter-long size and size caused the earth to tremble the moment it touched the ground.
The dragon folded its wings and moved slowly across the ground, each step sounding like the beating of a giant drum, making the surrounding crowd clearly feel the ground tremble.
The ferocious dragon head slowly passed over Reid, letting out a deafening roar at Pardara and his group.
"Hiss~!"
Reed reluctantly picked at his ears again, his head buzzing from the enormous roar. Damon's world-famous painting was cool, but his eardrums were suffering.
"You...you're a Targaryen?"
Ignoring the astonished Pardara, Reed patted the dragon's lowered neck, causing one wing to droop obediently. Reed walked around to the wingtip, climbed onto the dragon's back along the drooping wing, straddled the saddle, secured his waist and legs with the saddle's buckles, and then commanded, "Night Fury, prepare!"
The newly chosen name did not confuse the dragon at all; everything seemed to be preordained, reasonable and natural.
Night Fury spread its wings, straightened its body, raised its head, and assumed a takeoff posture, its tail thrashing restlessly, smashing the palm trees behind it to pieces.
"Night Fury, take flight!"
"Hiss~!"
With a roar, the dragon's two thick hind legs began to run, stirring up countless dust particles as the earth shook. After reaching a certain speed, it raised its wings high and then flapped them down sharply, propelling its massive body into the air.
"Whoa! Hahahaha!" Reed's excited laughter and screams, like a novice, came from mid-air.
The dragon's back is not comfortable. The saddle is located slightly above the shoulder blades, directly opposite the spine, which is the relatively stable part of the dragon's back.
To propel such enormous wings, extremely tough bones and powerful muscle groups are required. Every time the dragon flaps its wings, the muscles on its back rise and fall, and the dragon saddle sways erratically like a small boat in turbulent waters. Add to that the oncoming gale and the occasional feeling of weightlessness and overload.
In short, it was awesome!
Riding this colossal creature that exists only in myths and legends, the overlord of the sky, evokes a sensation from the trembling of the body to the boiling of the blood, and then to the trembling of the soul.
Excitement overwhelmed all discomfort! Reed gripped the handle tightly, controlling the Night Fury as it climbed higher, while squinting his eyes to find the right entry point.
"Look at the sky! The demonic dragon is coming!"
"Demon! Demon!"
The slave owners commanding the Unsullied were thrown into chaos. However, the Unsullied before them lived up to their reputation as the elite force renowned throughout Essos; even with the appearance of the massive Night Furies, they did not cease their attack.
Meanwhile, the cannon fodder troops on Reed's side were energized by the arrival of reinforcements and began to fiercely resist.
The battle quickly became a stalemate, but the Unsullied still held the advantage. This group of slave troops, trained in imitation of the Gugis Legion, were not only fearless but also highly disciplined. Even when engaged in combat, they struggled to maintain a relatively complete square formation. Due to differences in their advancing speed, the lines of the various squares appeared somewhat crooked, but they were generally a continuous and tight line, constantly advancing forward, blocking and pressuring Reid's cannon fodder troops.
Reed maneuvered the Night Fury, circling it once in the sky before positioning it to the flank of the battlefield. Once its flight path aligned with the Unsullied's battle line, Reed roared excitedly, "Dragonfire!"
Night Fury bent its neck, opened its fanged dragon snout, and lit fire in its throat.
Boom! A stream of dark blue fire cascaded down like a waterfall, bathing the array of Immaculate Ones in flames.
As the Night Fury glided through the sky, flames carved a wall of fire hundreds of meters high along the Unsullied's line of defenses. Had it not already passed the very edge of the Unsullied's ranks, it could have continued its attack for hundreds more meters.
The breath of an adult dragon is incredibly powerful. Enemies facing the center of the dragon's flames don't even have time to scream before they are instantly burned to white ash by the intense heat. Further out are charred corpses, and only dozens of meters away are the survivors who scream from burns and scalds.
The high temperature caused the surrounding vegetation to reach its ignition point, instantly bursting into flames. The raging flames spread mercilessly, greedily devouring everything flammable in the vicinity.
A single breath burned two hundred Unsullied men of Meereen.
Under the dragon's flames, all beings are equal.
"Throw spears! Throw spears!" The surviving slave owner, gripping the whip that symbolized his command, roared at the Unsullied.
In addition to a short sword and a round shield, an Unsullied is usually equipped with three spears of different lengths. These can be used as spares or as throwing weapons, which are among the few ranged attack methods available to an Unsullied.
One after another, spears were thrown by the Immaculate Ones, which flew weakly in the air for a short distance before falling limply.
Not even a single dragon scale got on it.
This almost made Reed burst out laughing. A javelin with a range of 30 to 50 yards could hit a dragon flying at a height of 100 meters. That was wishful thinking!
With no ranged weapons to threaten him, Reed freely controlled the dragon to lick the ground.
Since we've been forced to unleash our ultimate weapon, we must unleash its full power and inflict a severe blow on our opponent. Only in this way can we teach them a lesson, sharpen their wits, and make them think twice.
"Circling!"
"Turn right!"
"Dragon Flame!"
As the dragon swooped down again and again, squads of Unsullied were reduced to ashes and charred corpses by the overwhelming dragonfire.
But Reed's gains became smaller and smaller.
Commander Meereen, the leader of the group, was indeed very strategic. After the first wave of dragonfire, he ordered all the Unsullied to disperse and launch a frenzied attack, attempting to entangle Reid's cannon fodder troops in the chaos and avoid the dragonfire attack.
It worked very well. If these were cannon fodder who had previously fallen into chaos and scattered, Reid could have indiscriminately unleashed dragonfire without restraint. But now, these people had been inspired and were fighting bravely against the Unsullied Legion. To continue burning them indiscriminately would be somewhat unfair.
Reid quickly changed his strategy. Since he couldn't use the ground-washing and cover-up tactic, he would use precise sniping instead. Behind the Unsullied were slave owners wearing toka robes, bound with copper plates and yellow-green ribbons, most of whom were also carrying whips. They were easy to recognize.
The man and the dragon were of one mind, and having found the nearest one, the Night Fury began to swoop down.
The soaring dragon in the sky was naturally the focus of the battlefield. When he realized that he was being locked on, the clumsy slave owner, driven by fear, ran at a speed he had never achieved in his life.
"Dragon Flame!"
A ten-man squad of Unsullied continued to protect their whip-wielding commander, attempting to block the dragonfire with their shields. But it was no use; the eerie blue pillar of fire descended from the sky, slicing through the air with impact and explosion, leaving only charred ground and scattered ashes.
It worked. Without slave owners and whips, a hundred Unsullied men were left bewildered...
