Reed's soldiers chased the fleeing slaves deeper and deeper into the arena. Only after the sounds of fighting faded into the distance did Reed follow the Arab archers guarding him into the dungeon. The strong stench of blood and stench hit him, causing Reed to instinctively cover his mouth and nose.

The scarred, muscular gladiator, shackled and miserable, died in a corner of his cage, his curled-up body riddled with crossbow bolts. The guards, seasoned in dealing with riots and attacks, had dealt with the gladiators beforehand to prevent a riot.

The beasts in the cages were still lively and energetic, awakened by the sudden commotion and aroused by the stench of blood. They bared their teeth and roared deafeningly at Reed and his group through the thick bars. Cave bears, shadow lynxes, wolves, lions... scattered throughout the cages were numerous limbs and skeletons that clearly belonged to humans.

The wild beasts that had tasted human blood all had terrifyingly red eyes.

"Get rid of it." Reed waved his hand.

A group of Arab archers stepped forward and swiftly shot down the caged beast.

"Search carefully, find that dragon!" Reed ordered.

The voice just fell.

"Hiss!" A deafening roar echoed from the end of the narrow passage.

It was clear that, following the direction from which the sound came, the large group of people surged forward.

When Reed saw the dragon again, he couldn't hide his excitement. There was surprise, but also anger. As part of the compensation, his body had been modified according to the bloodline of Valyrian Dragon Aspect, one of the most powerful magical bloodlines in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. Whether it was hormones or the magic flowing in his blood, Reed felt an inexplicable affinity and attraction to dragons.

After witnessing the dragon's horrific state of being covered in sores up close, Reed was inexplicably enraged.

With a wave of his hand, the Arab warriors beside him immediately silenced the kneeling, surrendering slave guards.

"Get these damn chains off!" Reed commanded, and his men frantically pulled out the pins from the chains or chopped at the locks with axes.

"Calm down, I'll help you..." Reid repeated over and over in High Valyrian, slowly extending his hand so that the dragon could smell his presence.

The dragon, panting heavily, had long since lost its eyes; its empty eye sockets were filled with traces of asphalt. Fortunately, it had not lost its hearing. The dragon slowly reached out with its scarred snout toward Reid, its nostrils twitching slightly as it sniffed for the familiar scent of its bloodline.

Instead of submitting as Reed had expected, the dragon roared angrily.

Spurts of hot, foul fumes billowed from the dragon's mouth, carrying an unbearable sulfurous odor. Though lacking the signature flames of a dragon, the surrounding soldiers involuntarily retreated. Reid, however, remained unmoved, his gaze fixed on the open throat, where two enormous pins had damaged the cavity that should have been spewing dragon flames.

The dragon was also struggling, its body writhing incessantly. The clanking of the chains mingled with its roar, creating a unique song of defiance. Reid could feel the dragon's inner turmoil and pain, which strengthened his resolve to rescue it.

"Quiet, I'll help you," Reid said in a calm but firm tone in High Valyrian, slowly extending his hand in an attempt to soothe the dragon. However, it seemed unmoved; its anger still burned, and it slammed its claws and severed wing fragments into the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.

Reid did not back down. Instead, he drew his dagger and made a shallow cut in his palm, letting the crimson blood flow out. He then slowly brought the blood to the dragon's nostrils, allowing it to smell the scent of Valyrian blood.

Reed continued to speak to the dragon in a gentle tone, trying to build a relationship of trust. As time passed, the dragon's emotions seemed to gradually calm down, and its roars became weaker and weaker.

Finally, Reed's hands slowly pressed against the dragon's snout.

"Pliers!" Reed stretched one hand behind him, his glasses fixed on the dragon in front of him.

A soldier stepped forward shakily and quickly handed over the pliers. Reed took them carefully, his movements gentle and practiced. He approached the dragon's throat and began to examine the two enormous pins meticulously. With each movement, he was extremely cautious, afraid of inflicting more pain on this already tormented creature.

Reid carefully cut the retaining clip of the pin with pliers, slowly pulling out one end of the pin. The pain made the dragon struggle even more violently, but it was still clear that the big guy was trying his best to endure and cooperate.

Reid eventually removed the outer pin.

"Gurgle~!" The dragon groaned softly from its throat, a sound different from before. Even without any experience in taming dragons, Reed could tell that it was expressing comfort and friendliness.

Then, the creature slowly opened its massive mouth, gesturing for Reed to remove the inner pin. Even Reed, who was considered quite bold, couldn't help but swallow hard at the sight of the gaping maw filled with sharp, dagger-like teeth and a tongue covered in barbs.

"I'm helping you, don't bite me!" Reed warned in Higher Valyrian.

His reply was a deep dragon roar.

Without hesitating for long, Reed put his hand into the dragon's mouth. With the bloodline of a top Valyrian dragon king, even if the dragon had not yet recognized him as its master, it shouldn't attack him, right?

Enduring the stench of the dragon's breath and the slippery, sticky feeling inside his mouth, he found the pin head on the inner wall of the cavity, grabbed it, and shook it up and down, struggling to pull it out. Little by little, Reed pulled the thick, long pin away from his oral muscles.

"It's done!" Reed exclaimed with delight.

"Snap!" The dragon's massive upper and lower jaws snapped shut instantly.

"!" Reid was so shocked that his face turned pale. After a while, he realized that it didn't seem to hurt anymore.

Reid then realized that the curve of the dragon's mouth was exceptionally cunning.

"Damn it! Trying to scare me!" Reed kicked him in annoyance.

This attack was nothing more than a tickle to the thick-skinned dragon. It didn't respond, but instead slowly opened its mouth and brought its other cheek closer.

Reed quickly withdrew his hand and continued to apply force to the pin on the other side.

Finally, thanks to Reed's tireless efforts, both pins were successfully removed. The dragon's body shuddered violently, as if freed from some kind of restraint. Then, it pressed its snout against Reed's forehead, seemingly enjoying this rare moment of peace.

Seeing this, the surrounding soldiers involuntarily held their breath, afraid of disturbing this hard-won peace. Reid, meanwhile, gently patted the dragon's scales, a relieved smile on his face.

"Come with me, and I'll take you back to the blue sky!" Reed said with a smile.

However, the dragon did not obediently lower its wings to allow the tamer to climb onto its back. Instead, it gently nudged Reed a distance away, indicating its refusal.

"I can cure you and let you return to the skies!" Reed said anxiously.

"Hiss~!" The answer he received was a deafening dragon roar, and Reid heard resentment, anger, pain, and an indelible hatred in it!

"You want revenge?"

The dragon took a step forward, revealing an indescribable determination. It raised its neck and spewed out bursts of dragon flame intermittently, with streams of fire constantly leaking from the sides of its cheeks through the holes in its gills.

Seeing this, Reid's heart tightened, but he didn't back down. Instead, he took a more determined step forward and shouted in Higher Valyrian, "Heal your wounds first! Then I can help you take revenge!"

However, the dragon only let out another deep and powerful roar, a voice filled with undeniable majesty.

The soldiers around them were stunned by the awe-inspiring scene. They stood silently to the side, not daring to breathe.

Reed took a deep breath. Humans choose dragons, and dragons choose humans. The dragon had its own will and pride; he couldn't force it to obey. Whatever the reason, this dragon didn't consider him its destined rider.

"Fine... I can't stop you from dying if you want to, but I hope you make a big scene!" Reed said softly, slowly taking a few steps back. At the same time, he gestured to the soldiers, signaling them to retreat.

The soldiers quickly and orderly withdrew from the scene, leaving only Reed and the dragon standing there quietly.

After a long while, the dragon slowly lowered its head, opened its massive, fang-filled mouth, and retracted its neck. Its body trembled violently, as if enduring immense pain and discomfort. It repeatedly vomited, each effort accompanied by a low, painful roar, until finally, it vomited a clump of semi-digested food mixed with the bones of livestock and humans.

The pungent, sour smell made Reed take a step back.

The dragon carefully probed the clump of food with its chin, and soon pulled out a weathered dragon egg, smaller than a cantaloupe, covered in slime and with even corroded scales, which rolled to Reid's feet.

Reed was so shocked he forgot to speak, and disregarding the filth on the eggshell, he picked up the dragon egg with trembling hands. The digestive juices on the egg's surface burned his skin, causing a slight stinging sensation, but Reed's eyes were fixed on it as if he were possessed.

The dragon's massive body finally stopped trembling. Its nose continued to sniff, and it slowly lowered its head once more, gently nudging Reid with the tip of its snout.

Then, it staggered, spread its wings, and struggled to crawl towards the passage. Although its movements were slow and difficult, each step seemed exceptionally firm, as if carrying endless weight and determination.

Reid wrapped the warm dragon egg in his cloak and followed the dragon's faltering steps, leaving the dungeon and exiting the Great Arena. Beyond the dark gates lay the city of Meereen, its streets ablaze with countless tiny fires.

"Hiss~!" The high-pitched dragon roar echoed for a long time, and then the tormented dragon took a step towards revenge, rushing towards the crowd fighting the fire, spewing dragon flames and smashing into buildings.

Perhaps this is the dignified exit a dragon should have, the thought involuntarily popping into Reid's mind. But he should leave too.

The original force of a thousand men has dwindled to just eight assassins, over 50 Arab warriors, and a hundred or so Arab archers. The 300 arson slaves have all perished, either killed in battle or engulfed in the fires they themselves set.

Once outside the city gates and having confirmed that they had shaken off their pursuers, Reid removed his Arab lord's robes and ordered the remaining men to retreat upstream along the route they had taken, deliberately leaving traces along the way to mislead the Meereenians' pursuit. He then quietly slipped back to the caravan's camp.

Inside the camp, the campfire had gone out, and snores rose and fell from the tents. Reed stopped the guards who were about to make a sound.

By the faint starlight, he carefully bypassed the sleeping figures and silently approached his tent, his heart filled with both nervousness and anticipation.

The jet-black dragon egg that the dragon had given him before its departure was naturally stored in Reed's system space. At the bottom of the Lord's Hall panel, a special troop recruitment icon appeared: Dragon. Recruitment requirements: 1/1 dragon egg, 1333517/1000000 gold coins.

No need to incubate dragon eggs, no need to wait a long time for a dragon to grow. By spending the corresponding resources, you can obtain a 100-meter-long adult dragon in an instant.

A year ago, Reed was just a small mercenary leader who relied on the system to make a living, but now he finally has the courage and confidence to go anywhere in the world.
