Dream Walker: Feng Shui Master Bai Ya

Chapter 64 The Lame Horse Antenna

Shang Muchen didn't really want to deal with Ma the Cripple. After all, the guy was strange and dirty. His hair looked like a stray dog's, and he reeked of an old latrine. Standing with him for even a short while seemed to pollute one's aura.

But Ma the Cripple was very enthusiastic and mysteriously talked to himself: "Little Shang, do you know what? I discovered a glimmer of light in the direction of your aunt's balcony!"

As long as I have spiritual insight, I can contact aliens and have them take me away to live a paradise-like life.

The aliens promised to take me to a life of luxury, but they stopped looking for me. I guess they couldn't find me.

"As long as I get in touch with them, I'm sure I'll get to heaven!"

"Going to heaven isn't that difficult, is it?" Shang Muchen said with a knowing smile.

Ma the Cripple said in a serious tone, "Hey! Little Shang, I know you're mocking me, but let me tell you, if a person dies, they can't go to heaven."

To get to heaven, you have to be alive. If you die, you can only be reincarnated, going through cycle after cycle, like a hamster on a wheel, unable to get off!

Therefore, I must leave the hamster wheel alive and go to heaven alive!

"Alright, good luck." Shang Muchen tried to leave, but Ma the Cripple grabbed him. "Little Shang, I need your help!"

"Ah..." Shang Muchen shook off Ma the Cripple's arm, but still spoke politely, "Uncle Ma, please speak."

"Please, go to your aunt's house and set up this antenna where the light appeared." With that, Ma the Cripple turned around and rummaged through the garbage truck, pulling out a piece of junk.

Shang Muchen frowned upon seeing this.

This guy picked up a few aluminum cans from somewhere, welded them onto a wire, and formed an antenna shaped like the Chinese character "丰".

The antenna was poorly made, a mess, and it's been deformed by other trash.

"Xiao Shang, please, please install this antenna in the spot of spiritual light, and I'll be saved!" Ma the Cripple said earnestly. "I'll pay you. I know you're a feng shui master, and I charge you for your services."

I have money, wait a minute...

Shang Muchen was quite puzzled. He had only been a fake feng shui master for a few days, and yet even a lunatic already knew about him?

Did his fame spread so quickly?

Ma the Cripple reached into his pocket and pulled out a large wad of banknotes, including five-yuan notes, ten-yuan notes, and hundred-yuan notes.

He didn't even count them, and just shoved them haphazardly into Shang Muchen's hand.

Shang Muchen smiled and waved his hands repeatedly, saying, "Uncle Ma! Thank you, but you can keep the money for yourself. I promise you, I'll do this job for free!"

After some refusals, Ma the Cripple insisted on paying, so Shang Muchen symbolically accepted one yuan and returned the rest to him.

Seeing that Shang Muchen had accepted the money, Ma the Cripple nodded with great satisfaction and said, "Little Shang, now that you've taken my money, you have to do the job. You can't break the rules of the underworld."

"Don't worry about this little thing." Shang Muchen said this while holding the "antenna" in his hand, but in his heart he was thinking that he would find a secluded place and throw this piece of junk away.

As for the one dollar, I'll find a way to return it to Ma the Cripple someday; there's no need to take advantage of a madman.

With a satisfied smile, like a child who had just received New Year's money, Ma the Cripple pedaled away on his rickety tricycle.

Shang Muchen held the "antenna" in his hand. After thinking for a moment, he decided he couldn't just throw it away because Ma the Cripple would rummage through the trash cans. He decided to take it home first and then take it to a more distant place to throw it away later.

Back home, Shang Muchen casually tossed the antenna next to the shoe cabinet by the door, went to his study to get a textbook called "Environmental Geography and Feng Shui Humanities," then went out and found a quiet coffee shop in the park, where he spent the afternoon reading.

Textbooks are much easier to read than ancient books. Shang Muchen felt that he had learned a lot and, for the first time in his life, he had gained happiness and a sense of accomplishment from reading.

After having a quick dinner, Shang Muchen called Liu Qingyang, but she didn't answer. She replied that she was busy with experiments, so Shang Muchen had no choice but to take his books home.

As soon as they entered, Chicken Jump suddenly jumped out excitedly and shouted at Shang Muchen, "Boss! Where did you get this?!"

"What did you bring back?" Shang Muchen asked, puzzled, as he changed his shoes.

Chicken-bouncing pointed at the crippled horse's antenna, which had been tossed aside, and shouted, "Where did you buy this high-tech gadget?"

"High-tech? What? That's all?" Shang Muchen scratched his head in confusion. "You like it? If you like it, you can take it."

"I can take it, okay? Do you even know what this is?" Chicken asked earnestly.

"An antenna, huh?" Shang Muchen said dismissively as he changed his clothes, washed his hands, took a bottle of cola from the refrigerator, opened it, and sat comfortably on the sofa.

Chicken hopped over, his face serious, and asked, "Boss, this isn't just any antenna, it's a beacon for the 'Hyperspace Teleportation Array'!"

"What the hell? That piece of junk?" Shang Muchen stood up from the sofa, walked to the door, and gently kicked the antenna made from a broken aluminum can.

"Don't judge a book by its cover!" Chicken Leaped over, climbed onto the shoe cabinet by the door, patted Shang Muchen on the head, and said, "Aren't you good at reading auras? Use your 'mind's eye' to look at it!"

"Observing qi...?"

Shang Muchen calmed down, placed the cola in his hand on the shoe cabinet, stood at the door, staring blankly at the antenna lying on the ground.

At first, I didn't feel anything, but after watching for a few seconds, a ticklish feeling gradually appeared in my head, and my vision began to blur slightly.

Suddenly, Shang Muchen clearly felt that the pile of broken antennas in front of him began to emit an unusual light.

The antennas are shaped like the Chinese character "丰" (feng), and each terminal is covered with an aluminum can; there are eight in total.

The eight cans began to resemble LED lights, each emitting flowing, gradient, and strangely colored light.

The light was so soft and subtle, like trying to discern the call of a rare bird in a quiet valley; one had to concentrate intensely to even faintly perceive it.

But once the spectrum was aligned and the resonance between his mind and the antenna was felt, Shang Muchen sincerely experienced a strange and indescribable feeling.

It was as if a call came from the distant depths of the universe, or like a giant claw emerging from the bottom of a dark abyss. An invisible force of attraction emanated from the antenna, pulling at Shang Muchen's mind.

This magical, magnetic effect over long distances was quite interesting. Shang Muchen played with it for a while, like a cat playing with a pom-pom, and became increasingly skilled at achieving resonance with the antenna.

Suddenly, his phone rang, startling him and causing him to lose his sense of resonance.

Liu Qingyang's pleasant voice came through the phone: "Mu Chen, I just finished my experiment, I'm sorry I didn't answer your call."

How about I treat you to dinner tonight?

"Okay!" Shang Muchen said happily, "But I don't want to bring Xu Lele, hehe."

"I understand what you mean!" Liu Qingyang chuckled and said, "I definitely won't take her; she's going on a blind date."
