Dream Walker: Feng Shui Master Bai Ya

Chapter 102 Climbing a Mountain Goat for Remote Viewing

Outside the warehouse, it was a summer night with the streetlights just coming on, and mosquitoes were buzzing around.

The warehouse was a stuffy, sweltering place, like a pig suffocating in the heat. Inside, a huge, excavator-like machine with a tracked chassis and four robotic arms was parked.

This enormous machine is three stories high, with the cockpit at the very top. Xu Lele, covered in sweat, is operating a computer, seemingly adjusting various parameters of the machine.

Professor Eileen was in the cockpit, issuing instructions via radio.

"Shang Muchen, you're here? Great! We're short-handed! Go and fill up the coolant in the rear compartment!"

Professor Eileen showed no politeness and gave the order directly.

Awkward and exasperated, Shang Muchen couldn't refuse, so he had no choice but to obey. He ran to Xu Lele's side and asked, "Old Xu, what's coolant?"

"Isn't that the can?" Xu Lele pointed to a metal can with an ice cube symbol on it in the corner of the warehouse, and then to a slot in the back of the machine. "Just put it there, no need to open the lid."

"Oh……"

"Ugh! I wish I could work shirtless, this is exhausting!" Xu Lele wiped her face and said, "If Boss Ai doesn't do anything, I'll just steal and drink the coolant!"

"Fine, drink it then, I don't care!" Professor Eileen complained over the radio. "Before you drink it, sign a waiver of life and death, and then sign an organ donation form."

Xu Lele secretly grinned and silently spoke to Shang Muchen, saying three words that Shang Muchen understood: she said "Ai Bapi" (meaning "skin-pincher").

Shang Muchen suppressed a laugh and helped install the coolant.

After a lot of fuss, the huge machine started up with a roar. Professor Eileen drove the machine from inside the warehouse to outside, and then with a loud bang, the machine actually stood up.

The chassis, originally used for gliding, can actually be transformed into the legs of a robot.

"What's this big thing used for?" Shang Muchen asked, dumbfounded.

"This is 'Rescue Jun No. 1'!" Professor Eileen explained over the radio. "We have received a rescue mission. A landslide has occurred at a tunnel construction site in Dingcheng County, and the rescue team needs a heavy excavator that can climb mountains."

"This 'Rescue Team No. 1' was something I built as a hobby during my doctoral studies. It had been abandoned for a long time, so I repaired it and donated it to a rescue team."

"Wow, you were building such an outrageous behemoth while you were doing your doctoral studies? That's amazing!" Shang Muchen said with genuine admiration.

"Back then I was very playful and liked tinkering with these machines," Professor Eileen said. "Actually, this thing is too bulky. If it were me today, I would definitely make a smaller, more integrated one."

However, the rescue was urgent, and there was no time to build a new one; they could only repair the old one first.

We need to rush to the construction site tonight, so you don't need to come along. You won't be of much help anyway.

This last sentence disappointed Shang Muchen. But honestly, he realized that Shang Muchen really didn't know anything and would only cause trouble if he went.

Liu Qingyang stepped forward, stroked Shang Muchen's face, and said with a warm smile, "Muchen, I promise you, I'll go on a date with you when I get back."

"As soon as we get back, I'll give Liu Qingyang a break and return her to you! Lend her to me for a few more days, okay?" Professor Eileen said, while manipulating the huge mechanical arm, shaking it, which frightened Shang Muchen so much that he retreated repeatedly and obediently agreed.

"Qingyang, be careful when you go to the collapsed construction site," Shang Muchen instructed. "Those kinds of places are usually very dangerous."

"Don't worry, we'll be on the perimeter, responsible for equipment maintenance, and we won't be entering the site."

There's a dedicated rescue team handling the excavation; it won't be our turn to go in, and there won't be any danger.

"All right……"

Although he was very worried, Professor Eileen still chased Shang Muchen away.

Boarding the last high-speed train, my initial joyful travel mood vanished without a trace, replaced by a sense of abandonment and loss.

They are PhDs, scientists, and engineers, while I am nothing, completely useless, and unable to help in any way. It's really disheartening.

Overwhelmed by a sense of loss, Shang Muchen got off the high-speed train, took a taxi, and went home to sleep.

Lying on the bed in the haunted house, Shang Muchen heard footsteps in the corridor leading towards the art studio. He thought, "It might be Sa Sanqi."

I hope he sees my message to him. I wonder when Uncle Ding will be able to get the "Returning Home" trinkets ready.

Filled with longing for Liu Qingyang and an overwhelming sense of loss, Shang Muchen drifted off to sleep.

Even before he entered his dream, he was still thinking about Liu Qingyang.

At first, the dream was full of chaotic scenes. One moment I was doing a test at school, and the next I was looking for a toilet in a shopping mall. I don't know how long I was in this dream, but suddenly a thought lit up the screen in my mind—Liu Qingyang!

Where is Liu Qingyang? What is she doing?

With this strong thought, Shang Muchen floated, dazed, and mysteriously appeared above a construction site.

With a godlike perspective, Shang Muchen looked down at the construction site, which was brightly lit by various lighting devices.

Shang Muchen suddenly felt as if a part of his rationality had awakened, and he seemed to be able to understand what was happening below his field of vision:

It was completely different from the construction site he had imagined. The ground looked like a large archaeological excavation site, with the ground divided into regular squares according to a certain proportion, and people were busy in each square.

Some of the squares were dug very deep; judging from the light and shadow of the lighting equipment and the height ratio of the staff, the depth was at least a dozen stories.

Shang Muchen strolled around the construction site with great interest for a while, then suddenly remembered Liu Qingyang.

With a thought, the camera shifted, and Liu Qingyang appeared before them.

At this moment, she was working with Professor Eileen to unload the huge machine from the transport truck.

She and Xu Lele seemed to be arguing about something until Professor Eileen stopped them.

Shang Muchen could sense the anxiety and tension emanating from her, and even the intense emotions emanating from Xu Lele, but he couldn't understand what they were saying at all.

Their words seemed to be spoken in a language from another world, or perhaps on a different frequency; Shang Muchen couldn't understand the meaning of their words at all.

Ignoring everything else, Shang Muchen followed Liu Qingyang like a mosquito, curiously observing her actions.

She busied herself helping unload the truck, and when she got tired, she drank some water and went to Professor Eileen's side to discuss some things, but Shang Muchen still couldn't hear her.

Driven by curiosity, Shang Muchen tried to get closer to hear what she was saying. Suddenly, Professor Eileen turned her head and stared intently at Shang Muchen.

This really startled Shang Muchen. He could sense that Professor Eileen knew he was being spied on.

Suddenly, Professor Eileen raised her hand, as if slapping Shang Muchen across the face.

With a wave of her hand, Shang Muchen's view was abruptly cut off, and he was jolted awake from his bed.

Sitting on the bed, panting heavily, Shang Muchen was still savoring everything he had just seen in his dream.

Was that a fantasy I created myself?

Or am I, in some special state, remotely observing what is happening?

If it really was remote viewing, why could Professor Eileen see me?

Looking up at his watch, it was probably two in the morning. With a head full of questions, Shang Muchen lay down again, but couldn't fall asleep until morning.
