The training intensity in the military camp is naturally not as high as that of regular soldiers. Actors are trained more in military posture and some basic combat knowledge.

How to fire from behind cover, how to dodge and counterattack when attacked – these are all things that need to be trained in.

Especially when running with a gun, one must conform to the performance of military warfare and not appear effeminate.

Military posture and such things are no challenge for these actors; anyone who has studied in Taiwan must have participated in military training.

They're in training almost every week! There's one instructor for every six classes, specifically in charge of this work. It's like the instructor role in the movie "You Are the Apple of My Eye".

What's interesting is that the instructors in each county and city are from all over the country, so their accents are naturally different. As a result, when the students in the area have any group formation activities, the slogans are in the instructors' accents, not in Hokkien.

Xu Zan observed for a while and found that after a week of training, the actors' formation had already shown the basic qualities of soldiers in terms of marching, running with loads, and confrontation between two teams behind cover.

The training for Brigitte Lin and others was relatively simple, consisting only of marching in formation. In their spare time, they would also go to the shooting range to practice shooting. Their lives couldn't be more comfortable.

The actors egged on Xu Zan, making her carry weights across an obstacle course, shouting, "How can the director know if the actors are doing it right or wrong if he doesn't experience it himself!"

"You've put me on the hot seat of the fire. If I run away, you'll punish yourselves threefold, how about that?" Xu Zan said with a smile.

Ke Junxiong and Gu Minglun immediately responded, "Let's drink! A real man fears neither heaven nor earth, so why would he be afraid of drinking?"

Xu Zan found a suitable military uniform, which smelled strongly of scallions and even stinky feet. He carried a rifle on his back and ran quickly at the sound of the officer's whistle.

Barbed wire, sandy terrain, lone logs, obstacle walls... Thanks to the fact that his predecessor hadn't been retired for long and his body still had muscle memory, plus the fact that Xu Zan hadn't stopped training all these years.

Xu Zan barely managed to complete the entire track within the allotted time.

"Mr. Xu, you're amazing!" the instructor praised after glancing at the stopwatch.

"Hello, hello, I don't know your name yet?" Xu Zan said.

"Fu Chongyue," the instructor said.

Xu Zan glanced at his epaulets. "Lieutenant Fu, hello, hello! All of you instructors will be here soon, as a way of thanking you for your hard work!"

The two walked around the military camp for a while. Xu Zan made some requests and asked if there were any people who were particularly good at demolitions.

Lieutenant Fu did recommend a few people, but they were all active duty officers and needed approval from higher authorities to go out and make movies.

"I think you're about my age. Are you married?" Xu Zan asked.

"We just got married. My wife works at a military hospital," Lieutenant Fu said with a smile, looking very happy. It was clear he had married a good wife.

A cow can be cooked in various ways, including frying, stir-frying, boiling, steaming, and most often roasting.

"Head Chef, grill two beef kidneys and a bull penis for Ke Junxiong to nourish him!" Xu Zan suddenly said as he saw the head chef setting up the grill.

Ke Junxiong said he wanted it spicy, so he could enjoy it more, without showing any embarrassment.

"Director Xu, no way! This is a cow! Can we grill that part?" The chef's words caused everyone to burst into laughter.

The male actors were skewering beef, while the female actors were washing fruit and chilling drinks.

Xu Zan borrowed a phone from the military camp to call Mei Changling and ask if he wanted to attend the opening ceremony of the actors' training course and give him some pointers. He then mentioned that there would be a whole cow feast.

"I won't go. I'll have Mingji and the others go later. You guys have fun."

"Chairman Mei, your presence can boost the morale of these people, who are exhausted from military training. I also have some questions for you," Xu Zan said.

After waiting for about an hour, Mei Changling arrived with people from China Film Group, and everyone chatted around the campfire.

Chairman Mei spoke some official jargon, and then everyone was free to do as they pleased. He had the people from China Film Group take a group photo at the entrance of the military camp to prove that the training activity had taken place.

Xu Zan knew that to serve his superiors well, he had to have something to show. He stood up, holding his wine glass, and said, "I want to thank Chairman Mei. If it weren't for the filming of 'The Eight Hundred Heroes' by China Film Group, it would have been difficult for us to get together and spend so much time together."

"Today, we have wine and meat, all we're missing is singing and dancing. We're all in the entertainment industry; we might not do anything else, but we'll definitely do this! Ko Chun-hsiung, you set an example!"

Ko Chun-hsiung didn't hesitate. He stood up. There was no band on site, only a piano and a guitar. He requested a song, stood in the middle, and started singing "I'm Not Going Home Tonight".

Hsu Tsan sat down and said to Brigitte Lin beside her, "Are you going to perform something later?"

"Then... I'll dance!" Lin Qingxia returned after touching up her makeup and brought Xu Zan some fruit. Then she ran off to find suitable clothes.

At this point, one actor after another went up to perform, singing, telling jokes, and doing impersonations. Gu Minglun was imitating Ke Junxiong singing "I'm Not Going Home Tonight," and he looked quite amusing.

"Hey? Director Hsu, you should do one too! Everyone has witnessed your talent; it's even been in the newspapers! You sang a Cantonese song at the Lee Theatre!" Ke Junxiong shouted. "Aren't you going to clap?"

Xu Zan thought for a moment, then stood by the campfire and said, "I'll sing and dance, and show you what disco is all about!"

There was no accompaniment, no dazzling lights.

"The one I love has flown away, the one who loves me has not yet arrived, this lovebird has already flown away..."

He kicked out with his left heel, then brought his right heel together, shrugged his shoulders, swung his arms, and turned around lightly... performing the dance "Love Bird" in one smooth motion.

The people sitting around were dumbfounded. They had never seen such light and lively dance steps before. Xu Zan's singing voice seemed to have a built-in speaker, making the whole thing look very interesting.

Although Mei Changling didn't particularly like popular dance, it didn't stop him from seeing that Xu Zan was quick-witted, had ideas, and dared to act.

"Great! Director Xu has pioneered a new form of performance!"

Ke Junxiong, Gu Minglun, Ming Ji... they applauded and cheered. Even Qin Han, who didn't get along with Xu Zan, had to admire him at this moment.

After Xu Zan came down, Brigitte Lin got up and walked to the campfire. She smiled and said, "I'll perform a dance for everyone. Can Brother Zan play the piano for me?"

"Is it difficult? If it's too difficult, I can't do it!" Xu Zan laughed, but still got up and sat down at the piano.

The gentle piano music swirled in the night sky above the military camp. Lin Qingxia stood by the campfire and danced to the music. Her skirt swayed, and her figure radiated beauty in the firelight.

Her slightly chubby cheeks seemed to be glowing at that moment.

As Xu Zan played the piano, his eyes were completely drawn to her, especially to the way Lin Qingxia turned around and kicked him, a move that was both gentle and strong.

Hu Huizhong looks a lot like Brigitte Lin, but she is still not as beautiful as her.

Xu Zan was itching to try it, but he knew that good things come to those who wait, and haste makes waste. He had to win over a proud woman with his own proud methods; that was the only way to make her completely devoted.

After the performances by the celebrities, Lieutenant Fu sang "Plum Blossom" on behalf of the instructors. The film of the same name was released at the end of April this year, directed by Liu Jiachang and starring Ke Junxiong, Zhang Aijia, and Hu Yinmeng.

"Plum blossoms are everywhere, blooming more profusely in the coldest weather. The plum blossom's resilience symbolizes us, the magnificent China..."
