Lu Mingfei, become the king of gambling in dungeons!
Chapter 35 The King and the Rebel
Chu Zihang, still bleeding profusely for the third time, remained motionless, knowing that Jormungandr had noticed his movements.
Jormungandr vibrated its membrane wings and flew higher into the tunnel, looking down at the two people facing each other below.
"You even went so far as to pretend to be played by an older woman you secretly admired back in school. Now, thousands of years later, you must be having quite an interesting time living in human society, Odin."
"No matter how much you disregard human women, you shouldn't ignore your former pride and dignity. You're such a pathetic coward. Have you evolved... a masochistic tendency?" Jormungandr sneered, then became sorrowful again. "...So loneliness is such a terrible thing. It can destroy a monarch who once roared at the world. Your Dragonheart is far inferior to Fenrir."
"How pathetic, once high and mighty king!"
Jormungandr's face had a brief, distorted, and ferocious expression, but it wasn't particularly terrifying. To some extent, one could still see many of Xia Mi's characteristics in her.
"...Junior sister, you're not spreading rumors about me, are you?"
"Being...being played with by your crush or something." Lu Mingfei, suffering from PTSD, had a stiff expression. He didn't collapse or go black out, but his aura clearly showed signs of dejection and embarrassment.
Not again?
The worst fears have come true. Am I still doing the same thing in Kassel as I did in Shilan? No, I don't think "manipulation" has ever happened in Shilan.
He personally ended his relationship with Chen Wenwen, cutting his losses very quickly.
"Senior brother, is what she said true or false?" Lu Mingfei's voice was a little complicated. Based on his original understanding of himself, the probability of it being true was not small.
Chu Zihang did not reply immediately. His face was covered with scales and his facial bones were prominent. He lowered his head, making it impossible to see any expression. The flame domain on his body was slightly burning his own body and soul.
"It's fake. Your senior sister is good to you... in some ways." He said softly. "I believe you're not Odin, junior brother. If you have the chance, run away quickly. I can't leave. I'm about to stop being myself. Remember what you promised me before. You must have hope."
Lu Mingfei was taken aback, then blinked his eyes in distress and helplessness.
"Anyone with eyes can see your crush. You can't fool anyone. You're really willing to hurt yourself to disguise your identity." Jormungandr continued to mock with disdain. "Oh, right, it's just as successful as when you pretended to have a crush on Chen Wenwen in high school. I lived in Shilan and still have a classmate group. I know about your three years of futile and well-known efforts."
"Is that so..."
Lu Mingfei said softly, "...Was it known throughout the whole school in high school? That's a really bad life. Did things not change much in college?"
He understood perfectly.
Actually, you can already tell what your future self will be like from various clues, but who hasn't dreamed of becoming a majestic and powerful person?
His greatest talent has always been deceiving himself. It's no big deal if someone teases him in the future, or if he can't win over the girl he likes. He can just drink some soda, bury his head in his hands, spout nonsense, and have a good cry. The disastrous thing is that he buries his head in his hands and cries while deceiving himself.
A life of self-deception is like living in a cramped attic room, surrounded by familiar, noisy shouts and sounds, but none of it matters to you.
"Thank you, junior sister. Otherwise, I might still be in the dark. Sometimes I'm not honest with myself and need someone to slap me with the truth... If I have to kill you today, I'll do my best to reduce your pain."
Looking directly into the Dragon King's majestic eyes, Lu Mingfei habitually scratched his head, then pointed to the spot behind him with his thumb.
"I think I need to take your Fenrir out for a walk first."
Before he could finish speaking, a strong wind swept across the platform.
The black dragon, which had been lying motionless on the ground, raised its head from behind him and let out a pitiful, whimpering roar at Jormungandr, like a child protesting against its parents. But after Jormungandr swept over him with a commanding gaze, it hesitated, shook its head, and looked down at Lu Mingfei.
"Not a friend...you." The dragon decided to pick on the weak.
Yes, Fenrir was not dead yet; it was pretending to be dead. Lu Mingfei saw that its health bar was emptied... and then a second health bar was revealed.
This dungeon uses the same mechanics as some nasty RPGs or action games, with large bosses employing multi-layered health bars. The outer health bar doesn't represent the boss's total health at the current stage; even after you deplete one health bar, the boss still has many more. You have no idea how thick the boss's health bar is, so you can only gamble on the unknown or ask a pro for a guide.
"Are you a siscon? You're still so obedient now?" Lu Mingfei took off running, with the black giant shadow following closely behind. It roared and the Dragon King raised its head and spread its huge wings. The dragon's roar was loud, violent and mournful.
The dragon broke free of its restraints; perhaps what bound it in the first place was not the physical stone wall. Now it displayed the true might of the mountain king, even surpassing the dragon might of Jormungandr.
During his escape, Lu Mingfei didn't forget to steal a bag of sea salt-flavored potato chips from Fenrir's pile of debris on the platform. Unfortunately, his lungs were still injured, and the chewed chips tasted a bit strange when swallowed with blood in them.
The second subway marathon tonight has begun.
"You..." Chu Zihang looked at Jormungandr, his golden eyes as cold as ice. He was expressionless, as if he didn't recognize Jormungandr or Xia Mi at all. All that remained in his eyes was the savage killing intent of a dragon.
"You've even lost your consciousness?" Jormungandr stared at him just as coldly. "Becoming a Deadpool is fine, that way you can live forever with me in my kingdom."
Lu Mingfei munched on potato chips, then made a sharp turn and jumped onto the top of a train on the railway. The giant dragon followed closely behind, crashing through the concrete load-bearing wall of the subway station.
The subway station uses a grid structure formed by I-beams and reinforced concrete columns, which support the entire space like a complex human skeleton. However, many things in the Nibelungen do not necessarily follow physics; Fenrir, the dragon king, rampaged through the city without causing a large-scale collapse.
Lu Mingfei turned around, yelled "Holy crap!" and sped up, walking on top of the subway, overtaking the two people who were running one after the other.
Surprisingly, there were other people playing Subway Surfers at this time.
"Hello." Percy nodded slightly.
"No, bro, what the hell is chasing you?" Mr. KFC was on the verge of tears.
This guy must be Fingel... Lu Mingfei glanced at Mr. KFC.
His Word of Power Vampire Scythe is still active, and to some extent it can function like a super hearing aid. As long as one's brain's language discrimination and processing ability is strong enough, and the sound heard is properly and fully absorbed, one can distinguish the presence, volume, speed, and rhythm of the sound, judge the pitch and sound quality, and thus judge a person's voice.
Even without the amplification of the vampire scythe, his overall strength, including his hearing, is already at the level of a super hybrid; with amplification, it goes without saying that he would be even stronger. Even though Fingel had altered his voice to some extent, he could still recognize whose cheeky voice it was.
"The King of the Earth and Mountains?" Percy asked in a low voice.
"He seems to be a stay-at-home dog dressed as the king of the earth and mountains. He has a good taste in potato chips. Give him a try."
Lu Mingfei ran around handing out sea salt-flavored potato chips, taking the opportunity to clear his mind and contemplate life.
"It's not expired, is it?" Mr. KFC took it and stuffed it into his mouth.
Lu Mingfei glanced back at Fenrir: "It's five months past its expiration date. This Dragon King was probably bought during a supermarket sale."
"Thank you, Mr. Lu. I'll take this home for my family." Percy hesitated for a moment, then politely accepted the food and placed it in the breast pocket of Florence's white shirt.
The three of them each had their own thoughts. After dividing the potato chips, they saw the junction of the middle section of the tunnel.
"Let's split up and run."
