Tokyo: I'm really not a killer
Chapter 13 The Kill Begins
Yuan Zhensheng had emphasized this point when he first took on the order, and he put it as the first point, prioritizing it over his principles:
—During the engagement period, no one else may be entrusted with the engagement.
He had experienced this before, working himself to the bone hiding in a ventilation duct for seven days and six nights, eating compressed biscuits and urinating in mineral water bottles, enduring until his body and mind were on the verge of their limits, but he still couldn't wait for the target to appear, and finally had to give up... When he came out and found out, the target had been killed by his colleagues on the first day.
That feeling was worse than eating shit.
To close this deal, he killed a gun dealer, spent half a day in the toilet, got covered in urine, and even recognized someone as his boss... Now someone is driving out in a small truck to steal his business, and he deserves to be kicked to death by him.
Sooner or later, Yuan Zhensheng will make everyone in the industry know that only he can do the jobs he takes, the target is doomed, and everyone who interferes will also die.
The driver lost consciousness, and the small truck swayed out of control.
Yuan Zhensheng turned the steering wheel, causing the front of the car to overturn and slide along the cement road for four or five meters, making a hissing and ear-piercing friction sound, before finally coming to a stop in front of the villa's iron gate.
"Hey! Shiraishi! Are you alright?"
The crowd rushed to the overturned truck and hurriedly dragged Yuan Zhensheng out of the driver's seat. Broken glass was everywhere on the ground, and the truck door was deformed and torn off. Some people asked about his injuries, while others checked on the attackers inside the truck.
The driver was dead, his head was tilted back at a 90-degree angle, and his face was so badly kicked that he was unrecognizable.
Fortunately, gang members don't only identify each other by their faces. After stripping the driver's clothes off, Sugiyama Yuta took a closer look at the tattoos and knew that the other person was a member of the Inagawa-kai.
"Well done, Shiraishi!"
After confirming the attacker's identity, Sugiyama Yuta stood up and patted Hara Masaki heavily on the back, his face showing undisguised admiration and surprise.
Several group members gathered around, one of them offering a cigarette, his tone filled with relief at surviving the ordeal, asking who Hideaki Shiraishi was working for, and then congratulating Yuta Sugiyama on finding a promising talent.
Eisuke Sugiyama, who was standing a short distance away, was completely stunned.
Just now, the gang members fired a volley of bullets, several stray bullets whizzing past his forehead, scaring him so much that his legs went weak and he tripped and fell while trying to escape. All the henchmen who used to follow him around were nowhere to be seen, and not a single one turned back to help him up.
"I'm fine, it's just a superficial injury, I don't need to go to the hospital," Yuan Zhensheng said.
Everyone praised him for his courage.
From inside the extended Lincoln limousine in the distance, Kenjiro Kuwata took in all of this through the bulletproof window.
He called Ruozhong over and asked who the young man was. The latter replied, "He's Sugiyama's underling. He's been with the group for a year or two and has been working at the bottom..." As he spoke, he turned around and beckoned Sugiyama Yuta over, asking him about matters related to Shiraishi Hideaki.
Taking the opportunity, Sugiyama Yuta introduced his junior, repeating what Hara Masaki had said earlier. As the older brother, he also felt proud as his younger brother was in the limelight.
After listening, Kenji Kuwata said, "Take him to the office for treatment. Going to the hospital will leave a medical record."
"Do you think highly of him?" Yuta Sugiyama asked.
He assumed the person sitting in the car was the young leader, a member of an old-school yakuza group who called themselves chivalrous, emphasizing benevolence, righteousness, dignity, and a sense of shame, while also viewing violence as justice, and likely admired young people like Hideaki Shiraishi.
Kenkichi Kuwata did not answer, but signaled the driver to start the car.
The extended Lincoln quietly drove away, circling around to the side and rear of the villa.
"Shiraishi, you're in luck, kid!" Sugiyama Yuta watched Lincoln leave, then turned back and patted Hara Masaki's shoulder hard, a smile on his face. "This is the first time your brother's ever let you into the office for treatment! Come with me!"
Gensei Hara feigned a look of fear and followed Yuta Sugiyama into the Yamakengumi office.
He quickly scanned the interior as he passed through the forecourt.
The entrance is a foyer where you need to take off your shoes. The hallway is covered with a deep red carpet that is soft and silent underfoot, making it easy to sneak up and ambush someone.
The walls weren't ordinary concrete, but covered with wood-grain panels, giving them a rather upscale look. There was a separate elevator on the right side of the corridor leading upstairs.
There was a faint smell of disinfectant in the air, mixed with a subtle scent of tobacco and leather. Several team members in black suits were patrolling and nodded to them as they entered.
"The infirmary is over there." Sugiyama Yuta led Hara Masaki towards a door at the end of the corridor. "No outsiders are allowed in here normally; there are a lot of rules. You've done a good job today, kid; you'd better keep up the good work!"
As Yuan Zhensheng listened, he silently noted down the layout he saw along the way: the length of the corridor, the number of rooms, the location of the corners, and the staircase leading to the second floor.
After a simple bandage, Sugiyama Yuta led him into a Japanese-style room and began to give him a lecture as a senior member, mainly about the requirements for joining the association.
First and foremost is the requirement of bloodline; members must have pure Japanese blood. Secondly, there is the requirement of family background; those who have served as police officers must be excluded. Thirdly, there is the requirement of social connections; drug use is strictly prohibited, and even friends who use drugs are not allowed... Although the Yamakengumi deals drugs, they do not allow their members to use drugs.
In addition, there is a probationary period, during which you are absolutely forbidden from retaliating if you are verbally abused or beaten by your seniors. Hideaki Shiraishi has already proven himself in this aspect, so there's no need to worry too much.
Finally, there's the system of paying invoices and the referrer system.
To join the Yamaguchi-gumi, one must pay between 500 and 1 million yen, essentially becoming a paid underling. However, money alone is not enough; one must also be recommended by two official members, one a group leader and the other a regular member.
If a newcomer makes a mistake, the person who recommended them will also be punished.
"Don't worry about the money. I know your family isn't well-off, so I can lend you some. As for the referral, I can be one, but you'll have to find the other person yourself..."
Yuta Sugiyama sat cross-legged on the tatami mat, sipping sake and lecturing his juniors in a long, rambling manner.
Yuan Zhensheng knelt to one side, nodding respectfully on the surface, but in reality observing the location of the team leader's office.
Perhaps his bad luck had run out, and his luck had finally turned around. As Sugiyama Yuta was speaking, the sliding door was suddenly pulled open, and a man in a kimono walked in, holding a glass of whiskey.
"Hello, team leader!!"
Yuta Sugiyama hurriedly performed a dogeza (a type of Buddhist meditation posture), kneeling on both knees to pay his respects.
I never expected the team leader to come and offer his condolences in person. Hideaki Shiraishi is really lucky...
He turned his head and stole a glance, only to find that Shiraishi Hideaki was frozen in shock, sitting motionless on the futon. He quickly whispered a reminder, "Hey! Quickly bow to the team leader!"
Ichiro Nagashima waved his hand, sat down opposite the two, and said with a smile, "It's alright, it's alright. He's not a formal member yet, so there's no need to be so formal."
"I never expected you to come and visit me in person. I am truly grateful!" Sugiyama Yuta lowered his head even further.
"As the team leader, how could I mistreat my heroes? Thanks to you two, I was able to save my life..." Nagashima Ichiro casually pulled the sliding door shut, downed his whiskey in one gulp, then, holding the small glass, put his hands in his sleeves and said, "So, what reward do you want?"
"Meeting you is the greatest reward for me," said Yuan Zhensheng.
Ichiro Nagashima laughed heartily, clearly pleased; Yuta Sugiyama raised his head, looking pleased. The group was full of straightforward people, and he hadn't met such eloquent young people in a long time.
Suddenly, a coin fell out of Hara Masaki's pocket and rolled across the tatami mat.
With their eyes focused on the coin, Hara Shinsei instantly drew his pistol, the silencer making a soft "pop" sound as the first bullet pierced Nagashima Ichiro's forehead. Before the sound of the gunshot had even faded, he swung the butt of the gun at Sugiyama Yuta's temple, knocking him to the ground. He quickly ejected the bullet and chambered a chamber, simultaneously stepping on Sugiyama Yuta's neck to prevent him from making a sound. He then bent down and fired a second shot, piercing Sugiyama Yuta's stomach.
The entire process took two seconds.
One life per second.
