Today, they too are going to their deaths.
Chapter 3 Mutual Destruction
In the first round of combat, Cui Xun's left arm was severed at the root.
The transformed monster was too fast; Cui Xun's eyes couldn't even catch the monster's movement trajectory as it charged before its blade-like arm was already slashing towards his head.
Cui Xun only had time to instinctively twist his body to avoid a fatal blow.
Fortunately, the monster could not continuously launch such high-speed attacks, so Cui Xun was able to use his willpower to seal the wound while his left arm was detached from his body and spinning towards the pale earth, attempting to take advantage of this disadvantage.
Under his will, the blood stretched, expanded, and coagulated, turning into thin, transparent, deep red crystals, eventually transforming into a blade forged from blood.
Perhaps because it was imbued with Cui Xun's willpower, this new arm reacted faster than Cui Xun's old hand, and was even able to launch a counterattack on its own.
When the monster launched its second attack, Blood Blade shielded Cui Xun from the attack, creating an opportunity for him to retrieve the steel bar.
As the monster contracted, the steel bars embedded in its body lost their support and fell downwards.
Whether it had drunk its fill of monster blood or absorbed enough of Cui Xun's willpower, this weapon had become exceptionally sturdy and even emitted a strange silver light.
Cui Xun's grappling hook reached for the steel bar, but just as he grabbed his target, the rope was severed by the monster.
The grappling hook only had time to turn the steel bar towards Cui Xun.
But that's enough.
The knight's lance will not betray him until this battle is over!
Pulled by willpower, the steel bar almost flew towards Cui Xun on its own, landing in his right hand.
The rough threads burrowed into flesh, steel and blood mingling and tightening, ensuring Cui Xun would never lose this weapon again.
At this moment, the monster attacked Cui Xun for the third time.
Two attacks were enough for Cui Xun to judge the monster's offensive strategy even when he couldn't see its movement trajectory.
He gripped the steel bar tightly, aimed it at the position where the monster's cross-shaped pupils were about to reach, and used his willpower to push himself forward to meet it.
The cloak fluttered in the air, silver light covering Cui Xun's entire body, and then began to spin, making his charge seem like a spiral that kept moving forward.
All thoughts in Cui Xun's mind were swept away by this full-speed charge, leaving only the spear, the target, and death!
The monster couldn't dodge, nor could it dodge, but it had a second set of weapons.
The whip-like tail lashed out at Cui Xun's steel bar the instant he entered the attack range.
The powerful whipping almost broke Cui Xun's arm completely.
His bones made strange noises, his tendons and ligaments stretched to their limits, and large amounts of blood squeezed out from his taut muscles. If his arm hadn't been entangled with the steel bars, he might not have been able to hold onto his weapon.
Even though the steel bar didn't slip from its grasp, the intense impact still caused its tip to deflect, narrowly missing the monster's pupil and barely piercing the scales on the edge of its head.
This wasn't much damage; instead, it caused the monster to stop abruptly at a distance that was extremely dangerous for Cui Xun.
A collision that left no room for respite erupted.
The blood blade clashed with the monster's forelimbs, and sparks flew from the blood and dark green scales, which had been reshaped by willpower.
Vertical slashes, diagonal cuts, horizontal slashes, thrusts, upward slashes... In less than a breath, the monster that mimicked a human and the monstrous human clashed more than twenty times, finally ending with Cui Xun being knocked away, signaling the end of this round of confrontation.
Cui Xun's body went numb from the shock, and the wound on his left shoulder burst open as the blood blade shattered. Even though fresh blood immediately gushed out and was transformed into a new blood blade by his willpower, he still lost this round.
His abdomen was completely cut open, major blood vessels were ruptured, internal organs were severely damaged, and ruptured intestines slid out of the wound and fell down.
But he was still alive. His spine was not broken. The pain from massive blood loss and organ damage did not break his will. His tangible willpower was able to stop the wound and allow him to live for at least a few more minutes.
This state even enhanced his combat effectiveness to some extent.
He's going to die, so he doesn't need to worry about surviving this battle. He can simply use his body as a tool to drag the enemy to their death!
The remaining half of Cui Xun's intestines emerged from the blood-red membrane that temporarily covered his abdomen, blooming like a flower and transforming into dozens of intestinal blades that could be used as weapons. Inside the membrane, several severed ends grew structures resembling gun barrels, ready to fire blood as ammunition at any time.
The monster showed obvious confusion, seemingly doubting whether what it was facing was truly human.
But whatever it is, it will kill him.
The monster charged, then circled, then charged again, then circled again, then charged again, without stopping.
It completed another round of evolution. Its dark green body, which was so fast that Cui Xun could only vaguely perceive it, drew a zigzag line in the air that defied the laws of physics. Without slowing down or turning, it suddenly changed direction.
At the start of the battle, Cui Xun believed that the Super Speed Assault could not be used continuously, but in the face of the power of distorted reality, it turned into a monster's basic attack.
Faced with such a terrifying offensive, even the stronger Cui Xun could only protect his upper body, completely unable to care about his lower body.
His right leg was severed in the middle, and his left leg lost its entire shinbone. So he simply abandoned both legs and replaced them with weapons made of blood, turning them into a spear and a shield respectively.
In order to catch up with the monster's speed, Cui Xun used his willpower to carve several simple nozzles into his body, ensuring that he could make rapid turns by spraying blood at critical moments.
He was closer to death, almost able to smell the decay. The cold had begun to kiss his chest, and the world before him turned into a distant black and white.
At this point, letting him bleed to death might be the best option.
But the monster was not satisfied with that.
It stopped quite a distance from Cui Xun, observing the dying warrior. Then, bright silver patterns appeared on its body, and several vent-like things appeared between the blade and its body.
Then, it assumed an attack stance, bringing its four blades together and thrusting the whip blades forward, all transforming into a spear-like structure in front of the cross-shaped pupil.
It paused deliberately for a moment, giving Cui Xun time to react.
This is not a gesture of respect between adversaries; it does not wish to offer an honorable death to its enemy. It is merely the contempt of the strong, confident that it is now so powerful that Cui Xun cannot resist.
It will kill him in the same way that Cui Xun previously injured it.
That is indeed the case.
When he saw the sonic boom cloud bursting in the distance, Cui Xun accepted his fate of dying from this attack.
But he did not accept his defeat.
Originally stemming from his inner willpower, in that moment when he was face to face with death, he was driven by his frenzied killing intent to complete a transformation.
His brain has completely transcended the human realm, no longer transmitting information through neurotransmitters, but directly using willpower to connect all the tissues in his brain into one, raising his neural reaction speed to a level sufficient to cope with supersonic attacks.
Time stretched infinitely in Cui Xun's perception. He saw the air condense into white mist at the tip of the monster's spear, and hallucinated the sound of the atmosphere tearing apart, a sound so mournful it sounded like the wailing of the dead.
Death materialized into a tangible image, following his vision, and crashed into his mind!
But Cui Xun also saw the trajectory of the attack.
It was a straight line that was almost impossible to change, leading directly to Cui Xun's upper body. No matter how he moved next, it would inevitably destroy his most important brain. Only by giving his all could he have a barely perceptible chance of changing it and seizing a sliver of hope.
But if survival isn't the priority, this attack is much easier to handle.
Cui Xun's left leg suddenly shot out, and his body began to flip under the influence of the reaction force, making a posture as if he wanted to lean back and dodge.
The monster ignored the blood spear and smashed it without pausing for a moment. Then it smashed the right leg that was blocking its way in the form of a blood shield.
The blood that made up the blood shield was far more than the monster expected. It briefly blurred the monster's vision, but that brief moment was not enough for Cui Xun to make any significant changes.
He only had time to hold the blood-stained blade in front of his head and channel some power into the steel bar in his other hand.
Cui Xun couldn't even use the steel bars to block or attack; he only had time to swing his arm slightly forward. His intestinal blade and blood bullets were completely useless.
The monster sneered at Cui Xun's powerlessness. It continued forward, and the spear made up of its entire body as weapons easily shattered the Blood Blade under supersonic propulsion, destroying most of Cui Xun's head except for his mouth, officially declaring his death in the physical sense.
At that very moment, Cui Xun's remaining lower body and right arm exploded.
He didn't want to prolong his life. All his movements just now were just to look like dodging. In reality, he just wanted to put the weapon in the right position, make his body the launcher, use his blood to create an acceleration trajectory and amplify the power of the final blow.
He did it.
Cui Xun's corpse unleashed its last strength, propelling the steel bars that had evaded the monster's spear, and piercing the monster's pupil through a barely perceptible gap.
The will to resolutely face death, to use one's life as bait, blossomed at this moment, the crimson on the spear and the blood covering the monster's entire body together igniting a once-in-a-lifetime brilliance.
"boom!"
The moment the eyeball, which served as the energy center, was destroyed, the energy within the monster went out of control, and together with Cui Xun's fatal blow, completely destroyed the seemingly indestructible monster.
It turned into countless pieces of flesh, which, along with Cui Xun's remaining jawbone, fell to the earth.
Cui Xun was fairly satisfied with this outcome.
He had lost his brain and should be considered dead, but the willpower that had completed the transformation allowed him, perhaps a part of his soul, to linger in his body for a little while longer, to appreciate his achievements.
The rain of flesh wasn't pretty, but the rain of flesh formed from the remains of a powerful enemy gave Cui Xun a romantic feeling.
He never imagined he could actually defeat something so powerful; he felt his life was absolutely perfect.
But just before Cui Xun fully accepted death, his soul "saw" a sphere slightly smaller than a fist flying out from the monster's mangled flesh.
Its shape resembles an "inner elixir," exhibiting an astonishing roundness and displaying remarkable intelligence and vitality. It defied the influence of gravity and flew towards the edge of the city.
Cui Xun guessed that it was probably the core of the monster.
Given the right environment, it might be able to grow the monster's entire body back and live a second life.
In other words, the battle is not over yet.
Intense fighting spirit ignited flames on Cui Xun's remaining jawbone, which then crashed into the core at a speed even faster than the monster's core.
In the very end, Cui Xun personally bit the monster to pieces, giving it its true end.
