"Okay...okay?" Piper spat out the rag from his mouth and looked at his shoulder in disbelief.

Olde stood up, clutching his back, and said irritably, "Just to prevent it from getting worse, you'll have to stay here for at least five more days."

"Thank you! Piper is alive again." The little guy jumped down from the stone platform with a happy smile.

"What are you thanking me for? It's one gold coin a day for lodging. Who's going to pay?" The old man waved his hand.

Lorraine gasped.

Medical treatment is so expensive no matter which world you're in...

"Of course, if you are willing to believe in the Lord of Dawn, this treatment will be free of charge," Ald added.

"I'll do it!"

Piper pulled five gold coins from his bag and happily handed them to the old pastor.

"Hmm." Ald nodded, glancing at the halfling, and said, "Stay here with me for the next few days, and don't go running around."

"Okay..." He deflated again.

The old pastor didn't say anything more, and waved Lorraine away: "Go on, you rude boy, come back for him in five days."

Lorraine scratched his head, puzzled.

Old smiled faintly and said, "You like to sneak into people's houses in the middle of the night? Luckily, your hands and feet are still clean, otherwise I wouldn't have treated him."

"Uh...sorry," Lorraine said with an awkward laugh.

How did this old pastor find me? I clearly didn't see him yesterday!

Lorraine left the temple looking disheveled, taking with him the leather armor that Piper had captured.

I'll take these few days to tidy up my gear and get Piper a new leather armor made.

As for the size of the leather armor?

"Just let them do it the way the dwarves do," Piper said.

Lorraine took a scroll out of the package.

This is the map of Shallow Beach Town that I bought from the tavern owner yesterday; it cost him five copper coins.

The shops in town were all marked with circles, and there were also thoughtful notes in small print next to them.

For example:

Old Horton Blacksmith Shop

Sharpening a knife: 1 silver coin

Second-hand equipment recycling: assess condition

Custom-made new weapon: Price negotiable (actually, whatever he says is the price).

Remark:

That bald guy has a bad temper; don't ask the price a second time. Don't touch anything on the wall; if it falls, you'll have to pay for it.

"Bang—"

The silver-white longsword, Rusty Throat, was carefully placed by Lorraine on the blacksmith's workbench.

He squinted at the burly bald man in front of him. The firelight from the blacksmith's furnace shone on his forehead, making his head look like an incandescent light bulb.

He's someone you can't look directly at.

The bald-headed Horton picked up the longsword and carefully examined it from front to back, occasionally adjusting his monocle. Then he ran his fingertip along the blade before clicking his tongue in approval.

"Who uses it like that? Oh, it's a goblin... no wonder."

He looked Lorraine up and down.

"You killed him? You're quite skilled. This sword can't be sharpened anymore; it needs to be re-sharpened. One gold coin; come pick it up tomorrow afternoon."

"The leather is quite nice. Is it for dwarves? Then we can cut two pieces. I'll give you ten silver coins. Come back in three days to collect them."

Old Mo, with his gaunt appearance and two goatees, tugged at his leather armor. Seeing Lorraine staring at his beard, he chuckled smugly.

"How do I look? Does my beard look good?"

Lorraine nodded silently.

[Human hair, male, approximately 50-55 years old, leg bitten by a dog]

"You've got a good eye, kid! But the money can't be too little, haha!" Old Mo stroked his beard, looking a bit comical.

Lorraine glanced at the various leather goods hanging on the shop wall and asked, "I'd also like to have a leather armor and a pair of boots made, similar in material to these. What's the price?"

Old Mo said excitedly, "Oh, what a big customer! This suit is made of northern mountain pig skin. I have some ready-made here. I just need to adjust the size a little."

He took two steps and took a leather armor down from the wall.

[Northern Mountain Pigskin Half-Body Armor]

Type: Light Armor (Leather Armor)

Quality: Standard (White)

Durability:44/45

Weight: 3.24KG

Equipment effects:

[Minor Protection]: Provides minor protection to the covered area.

[Cold Resistance]: Provides a slight warming effect in cold environments.

Remark:

"Old Mo's handmade products are so good, you won't regret buying them."

......

The leather armor was dark brown all over, with the natural dark patterns of wild boar skin. The lining was a thin layer of linen, which had a strange smell of tanning, reminding Lorraine of the jars used to cure meat at home.

"How much?" he asked.

Old Mo chuckled and said, "This is made from the back skin of an adult wild boar; it takes several boars to make just one set..."

"Just tell me how much it costs," Lorraine waved her hand.

"Including the boots, it's 1 gold, 18 silver, and 10 copper."

"One gold and fifteen silver coins, will you sell?"

"Deal. Remember to pick up the boots and the dwarf's outfit in three days."

Lorraine stood bewildered in the wind, wearing her new leather armor.

I feel like I didn't bargain enough, but the clothes are quite comfortable, and at least they make me feel much safer.

There are 1 gold, 11 silver, and 4 bronze left. What's next...?

Tom's Grocery Store/Pharmacy

Dry rations: 1 copper coin/packet

Rope: 3 copper coins/ten feet

Pine Resin Torch: 2 copper coins/torch

Water jug: 8 copper coins

Medicine: Check the price tag on the shelf.

Remark:

Before buying, smell it to see if it has any odor.

"The items are all on the shelves. Take what you need yourself. Don't even think about stealing. If I catch you, I'll chop off your hand."

Tom, with his pointed ears, big head, and sparse white hair, sat on a recliner by the door and spoke fiercely to Lorraine.

Is this a dwarf?

Lorraine couldn't help but take a second look at him; compared to the proportionally shrunk halfling, the dwarf looked rather strange.

Dry food...buy five bags.

Ropes... it's always good to have them on hand.

Torches too.

I got the kettle... Hmm, this package is pretty sturdy, 15 copper coins? I'll buy it.

Buy another bag of salt, 3 copper coins.

A flint and steel are unnecessary.

What is this? Lorraine looked at the glass bottle on the shelf, which contained a bright red liquid.

Mild Healing Potion: 100 Gold Coins

Holy crap, that's so expensive!

This is something you couldn't afford even if you sold yourself and Piper together...

Lorraine increasingly felt that remembering the treatment for the minor injury was the wisest decision he had ever made.

He kept his distance from the small glass bottle with a sense of awe, afraid that he might bump into it.

After paying, Lorraine left the grocery store with her bags and packages.

He breathed a sigh of relief; he still had 1 gold, 9 silver, and 3 copper coins left, more than he had expected.

The fact that he didn't need to buy the most expensive medical supplies undoubtedly saved him a lot of money.

This money is enough for him to live a wealthy life for several months, but it's just a drop in the ocean when it comes to improving his strength.

Leaving aside the cost of learning professional spells and buying magical items, even items marked as excellent by the system would cost at least ten gold.

Those things related to magic are even more outrageous, starting at tens of gold coins and going up to no limit.

The task is arduous and the road ahead is long.
