"Get up, it's time to go to the guild to turn in your quest."

Lorraine, exasperated, dragged Piper out of bed.

The short man sat on the edge of the bed, his eyes still stubbornly closed, muttering incoherently things like "Pap dreamed of roast meat" and "You woke him up just as he was about to bite into it."

Lorraine stuffed the bread she had bought that morning into his mouth, and he took two bites with his eyes closed before finally waking up.

The two stuffed the mission token into their bag, then went downstairs and saw Eileen, who had already changed into her burgundy mage robe, waiting in the lobby.

"Let's go."

They left the tavern and went to the Adventurers' Guild next door.

The hall was quieter than before, with only a few adventurers standing in front of the notice board, looking up at the quest list and occasionally whispering to each other.

Behind the counter, Vanessa was propping her head up with her hands and half-closing her eyes. Her round face was full of sleepiness, clearly indicating that she had stayed up all night.

Hearing the door open, she looked up and saw Lorraine and the others; her eyes lit up instantly.

"Mr. Lorraine! Mr. Piper! Ms. Eileen is here too!"

Vanessa professionally and quickly read out the three people's names, then greeted them warmly, saying:

"Good morning! Are you three here to hand in your mission?"

Lorraine nodded, untied the cloth bag from his waist, and placed it on the counter along with the folded task sheet, saying:

"Goblin camp cleared, one bear goblin head, fifteen left ears."

"Okay, please wait a moment. I need to check the number of vouchers..."

Vanessa's smile widened. She took the task sheet and the bag, put on a pair of gloves, and then opened the bag.

A strong smell of blood and slightly rotting corpses assaulted her nostrils. She glanced inside without changing her expression, then reached out and took out the items one by one, placing them on a tray.

First, there was the bear goblin's head, which had hardened somewhat after being frozen for several days, its expression still frozen in the ferocity of its last moments before death.

Vanessa flipped the skull over to examine the shape of the teeth and skull, confirming that there were no problems.

He then dumped the bag onto the counter, and the left ears of more than a dozen goblins rolled out with a clatter, some of which were still wearing rough bone earrings.

Those were some of their few possessions during their lifetime.

"One bear goblin head, fifteen goblin left ears, the numbers are confirmed."

She quickly jotted down a few notes in the register, tossed the task sheet to a window behind her, and pressed the bell on the counter.

"Congratulations to the three of you! Please wait a moment."

Vanessa closed the register and gave a genuine smile.

Soon a tall guard came out from the back compartment, carrying a plate full of coins.

Vanessa took the plate, nodded to the guard, and then neatly arranged the coins inside on the counter.

"Thank you all for your contributions to regional stability. Here is the reward for this mission, as well as the bounty for the goblin and the bear goblin, totaling 87 gold coins and 5 silver coins. Please check."

Lorraine nodded and carefully divided the money into three piles, giving each person 29 gold coins and 5 silver coins as they planned to finish them by noon.

So, the bounty for the goblin is 45 gold coins? That's not bad, it's even higher than the quest reward.

It seems that this kind of clearing mission is a relatively lucrative option, not only because there are mission rewards, but also because the bounty and loot are the real big winners.

However, it's also more dangerous.

Vanessa's gaze swept over the three faces before finally settling on Lorraine, as if she had already decided who would make the decision.

She was quite pleased with the team's performance, having already earned a substantial commission upon their arrival. Seizing the opportunity, she asked, "Are you all planning to take on more missions?"

Lorraine put the gold coins into his pouch, shook his head, and said, "I won't accept any more for now. We still have some things to take care of."

"Okay, you're welcome to come again anytime."

He now possesses a staggering 76 gold, 18 silver, and 8 bronze, along with a pile of even more valuable spoils that he hasn't yet sold; he can hardly be described as not wealthy.

It's time to turn those gold coins into real power.

"I'd like to see Mr. Glenn. Is he available right now?" Lorraine asked.

Vanessa was still immersed in the joy of receiving her commission and their sadness at not getting any missions. She was a beat slow to react upon hearing this and said:

"That's convenient. Mr. Glenn doesn't have any rank assessment tasks at the moment, so you can go and visit him directly."

"OK, thanks."

Lorraine politely thanked him, then looked at the two people beside her and said, "I'm going to learn some combat skills later, what about you?"

"I'm going to the temple."

Eileen glanced at them indifferently, then raised an eyebrow toward a corner of the hall, indicating that they should talk in a quiet place.

Lorraine quickly understood, gently kicking the short guy who was still counting his gold coins, and pulled him to a corner amidst his bewildered expression.

"We need to talk to Anya about Gary's situation; he might come in handy in other ways," Eileen said softly.

"it is good."

Lorraine nodded, looked at the short man, and asked, "And you?"

"Pipe is going to look at houses!"

The short man immediately perked up, jumped out from the side, and said enthusiastically:

"Pip asked Gustav yesterday, and there's a real estate agency in the west of the city that specializes in finding houses for adventurers."

He proudly puffed out his chest, put his hands on his hips, and said:

"Pip went to talk to him; Piper loves to chat."

"Okay, shall we meet at the tavern at noon?"

"Okay." "Alright!"

Although Lorraine rarely saw the short guy bargaining, she was quite confident in his ability to chat; he could really get along with anyone.

He watched the two walk towards the door, and just as he was about to turn around to find Glenn, Eileen suddenly turned her head and said to him, "We still have to go shopping for clothes this afternoon, don't practice too hard."

Without waiting for Lorraine's reply, she turned her robe around and walked out the door.

It feels so good to be cared for.

Lorraine stared intently at her retreating figure until it disappeared from sight, then turned and walked toward the wooden door leading to the inner courtyard deep within the hall.

In the inner courtyard, Glenn was sitting in a chair, holding a teacup and basking in the sun.

He heard footsteps, turned around sharply, and saw that it was Lorraine. He smiled and said:

"Have you thought it through?"

Lorraine took out five gold coins from her pouch, which she hadn't even warmed yet, and handed them forward with a pained expression, saying, "I've thought it over. I want to learn how to sheathe a sword first."

Glenn didn't take the money directly from him. Instead, he waved his hand and said, "Later, if you're satisfied after the lesson, I'll take your money."
