Chapter 91 The White Deer from Another World
Hagrid noticed that Xavier didn't seem very angry, and his expression had relaxed.
The two walked quietly along the way, with Xavier occasionally looking around for things that were rarely seen outside the Forbidden Forest.
Moss, emitting a ghostly blue light, covered the fallen tree trunks, and the low moans of unknown animals could be heard from afar. The air was filled with the scent of earth and some unknown smell.
Xavier discovered a lot of material that he recognized, but of course, much more that he didn't.
Moreover, even ordinary plants and animals underwent significant changes in the Forbidden Forest, becoming quite different from their counterparts in the outside world.
If it weren't for the fact that a bunch of spiders had been eyeing his young body earlier, this would actually be a pretty good place.
Ethan—

Hagrid then seemed to remember something. "I was just about to ask you this," he said, pointing to Xavier's still-present antlers, "Do you know why you're like this now?"
Xavier slowed his pace and turned to look at him: "Mrs. Pomfrey said it was the awakening of magical creature bloodlines. Maybe my ancestors had some connection with some kind of magical creature."
He raised his hand and touched his horn. It felt a little strange, but not bad. "It won't affect me much. In fact, it will have some benefits."
Xavier hadn't really thought about this issue in depth—after all, the true source of these abilities was the sharing of other worlds, and had little to do with bloodline.
"you do not know?"
Hagrid's voice suddenly rose: "I thought you knew!"
He widened his eyes and eagerly explained, "Oh, Merlin's beard—I'm telling you, you're definitely not your average magical creature hybrid."
"Merlin—or rather, a very ancient bloodline," Hagrid said, reaching out to pat Xavier on the shoulder.
Xavier actually sensed that Hagrid wanted to touch his head, but he avoided it.
Hagrid didn't care; he began to explain in as much detail as possible, even if it was compensation for Xavier's terrible trip.
"Do you know?"
Hagrid shook his head, his unkempt hair swaying back and forth, looking very interested.
"Since you love reading so much, you should know that many of the myths and legends passed down from wizards to Muggles are related to ancient wizards."
In Celtic culture, the white deer is a messenger from the afterlife. In Scotland, an encounter with a white deer is considered an extremely lucky omen.
"In Welsh and Celtic mythology as a whole, the white stag—especially the white stag—is regarded as a messenger from another world, representing a call to embark on a heroic adventure and guiding the way to the other world."
He spoke very quickly as he said this, occasionally even stumbling over his own words.
"Therefore, within the context of these myths, the deer has consistently played the role of guide, shapeshifter, or guardian. At its core is the white deer of Celtic legend, who traverses two worlds and leads heroes into the unknown."
Another world?
Lucky?
Xavier paused, his steps faltering. This bizarre and magical magic! If Hagrid hadn't been so naive, he would have thought Hagrid knew his secret.
"And of course, there's Hernethe Hunter—he's considered the guardian of the forest and an ancient god of nature, and is said to command the ghostly ranks of the Wild Hunt."
"And then there's Cernunnos—known as the 'Horned One' or 'God of Beasts,' symbolizing nature, forests, abundance, and fertility, and called the 'Lord of Beasts.' As an even more ancient archetype, his influence extends throughout the Celtic world."
Hagrid spoke in one breath, almost without pausing.
Xavier listened with great interest, thinking that if Hagrid were to tell stories in a history of magic class, there would probably be far fewer sleeping wizards.
Then Hagrid stopped, his eyes sparkling as he stared at Xavier like two reflective beetles.
"Although I think, Ethan, you don't have much to do with the latter two."
He paused, his beard twitching.
Hagrid still hoped that his long explanation could overshadow the awkwardness that had occurred in the spider's nest.
Moreover, Xavier was one of his few friends.
"But anyway, Ethan, do you understand what this means?"
Hagrid looked at Xavier with genuine sincerity, swallowed hard, and continued, "This means your bloodline is quite sacred and ancient."
Hagrid provided the answer, his voice filled with unwavering conviction, "It might even be related to a powerful wizard even older than Merlin."
Xavier seemed to be deep in thought.
He knew no more about the origins of his bloodline than Hagrid.
After all, his family members were Muggles for several generations, so if there was any connection, it would probably be something from thousands of years ago.
At that moment, Xavier suddenly sensed something.
He stopped and turned his head in that direction.
It wasn't a dangerous scent, but a gentle, clean one, emanating from the dense forest on the right.
Hagrid turned his head after him, and then his expression lit up.
At the edge of a forest clearing, a unicorn stood quietly.
Its entire body was snow-white, its silver mane cascading like moonlight, and the horns on its forehead gleamed like pearls in the dappled sunlight filtering through the tree canopy.
It was taller and quieter than Xavier had imagined.
However, her pure temperament was incompatible with the oppressive atmosphere of the forbidden forest.
Hagrid held his breath.
He had expected the unicorn to run away immediately upon seeing strangers, but it simply stood there, looking at them with its deep purple eyes.
He had seen unicorns many times, but rarely had one stopped on its own like this.
The unicorn's gaze fell on Xavier, and then it took a step and walked towards him.
It wasn't the kind of tentative, ready-to-leave stride; its steps were calm and composed, light and quick, as if it were approaching something familiar.
The unicorn snorted at Hagrid, as if to greet him.
Then it walked up to Xavier, lowered its head, twitched its nose, sniffed, and then nudged Xavier's antlers with its horn.
Xavier didn't move, but slowly reached out and stroked its neck.
The unicorn did not dodge.
Its body temperature is lower than that of a horse, and its breathing is steady and slow.
The unicorn circled Xavier a few times, then turned and slowly walked towards the other side of the forest. After a few steps, it glanced back at him, its purple eyes reflecting the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy, before disappearing into the bushes.
Hagrid finally let out a breath.
"Merlin's beard," he whispered, "it never lets anyone near. I've never seen it approach anyone on its own initiative."
He looked at Xavier with surprise. "You're more special than I thought, Ethan."
"Even I can only find a few of their fur occasionally."
Xavier withdrew his hand, the cool touch of the unicorn's neck still lingering on his fingertips.
"Perhaps, maybe as you just said, my magical creature lineage is rather special."
Hagrid led him forward.
The sunlight began to slant, and a thin mist rose in the forbidden forest, flowing slowly between the tree trunks.
Xavier faintly heard the sound of hooves ahead—not the soft rustling of spiders, but a deeper, more steady thud, rhythmically striking the ground like drumbeats.
"Is the Forbidden Forest this lively?"
Xavier had a rough idea of what it was and felt a sense of wonder.
Hagrid heard it too.
He stopped, listened intently for a moment, and then whispered, "It's a centaur."
