Hogwarts: Who uses a crowbar in wizard duels?

Chapter 173 Successfully Inviting Horace

As the house was gradually restored, a beautifully decorated and cozy room appeared before them.

This was probably not arranged by Horace, but by the Muggle owner of the house.

Horace was only staying temporarily and had simply placed some of his own decorations there.

"Not bad taste, Horace," Dumbledore said with a smile after looking around.

"Of course, this is a house I carefully selected, but the owners are a Muggle, and they are currently on Canary Island."

"I'll stay here for a while longer before moving on to the next place."

Horace shrugged and walked over to a low cabinet with some boxes and a tea set on it.

Would you like a cup of black tea?

"No, thank you. Would you mind if I used the restroom?"

Dumbledore waved his hand in refusal, then walked out of the room with an air of familiarity.

As she passed Harry and Kevin, she winked at them.

"Alright, what about you guys? Would you like a cup of black tea?"

Horace turned his gaze to Harry and Kevin and asked kindly.

"Uh, no..."

"Thank you, I was thirsty after walking all this way."

Harry was about to politely decline, not wanting to trouble him, when Kevin smiled very familiarly.

Horace's smile grew even warmer. With a wave of his hand, the tea set flew up automatically, brewed a pot of black tea, poured it into cups, and then the cups flew into Kevin and Harry's hands.

Kevin didn't savor it; he downed it in one gulp because he was genuinely thirsty.

Harry, on the other hand, was much more reserved, drinking slowly and not finishing his drink.

Horace looked at them with a smile, but didn't say anything.

Kevin then looked at another low cabinet next to him, which was filled with all kinds of photo frames, and the photos inside were animated.

These are likely some early photos of Horace and his family, including some of Harry's parents.

"Mr. Slughorn, are these photos of you and your students?"

Kevin walked over there and asked, feigning curiosity.

"Yes, Kevin, they are all my best students."

"Harry, your father and mother are also inside."

Looking in the direction Horace was pointing, Kevin indeed spotted a man who looked very much like Harry, as well as a red-haired woman.

As soon as Harry heard the news about his parents, he immediately came over and saw his parents in the rows of photo frames.

"Look, how much you look like your father, except for your eyes," Horace said, his voice filled with nostalgia.

Harry gently picked up a photo frame and looked at his parents smiling broadly at the camera, as if they were smiling back at him.

"Oh, Lily, she was my favorite student, and she was also very talented."

Harry smiled when he heard someone praising his mother.

At that moment, Horace looked at the photo frame in Kevin's hand.

"Oh, you might know this guy. He's Regulus Black's younger brother."

Harry heard the familiar yet unfamiliar name and instinctively looked over.

Regulus, isn't he the Death Eater who switched the locket?

Looking at the figure sitting in the photo, he bears a resemblance to Sirius Black.

Unlike Sirius Black's unruly nature, he appeared very proper and upright.

"Almost everyone in the Black family is in our college, except for Celias. He's a talented kid, and I've always felt sorry for him."

Horace's expression did indeed show a hint of regret.

"Where is Professor Snape? Is he here?"

After looking around, Kevin couldn't find Snape and asked curiously.

"Oh, Severus, he is indeed a clever boy. Kevin, you learned your potion-making skills from Severus, didn't you?"

How could Horace not recognize Snape, his former student who had now become a Potions Master comparable to him?

Kevin nodded; his knowledge had indeed come from Snape.

"His talent is undeniable, Kevin, but... well, because of his personality, he's not really a good fit for my club."

Horace carefully considered his words before speaking slowly.

"Yeah... I think so too."

Kevin nodded in strong agreement.

?

Horace behind him was stunned.

He thought Kevin wanted to support his mentor, which was why he chose his words carefully, not wanting Kevin to think he was prejudiced against Snape.

And then you blurted out this?

"Professor Snape's personality is indeed very problematic. He always has a sour face, as if everyone owes him millions. He speaks like a riddle man and likes to pressure people from time to time."

Kevin readily agreed, laughing as he complained to Horace about Snape's many flaws.

This made Horace somewhat ashamed; it seemed Kevin's experience learning from Snape wasn't so good after all...

"However, he is indeed a good teacher."

But in the end, Kevin still gave Professor Snape his approval.

After listening to Kevin's rant and final compliment, Horace liked Kevin even more.

Although she has her own ideas, she also respects her teachers.

"Kevin, Harry."

Then Dumbledore's voice rang out; he had returned.

"It seems you're having a good chat, but we should be going now."

Dumbledore addressed the two men.

"Thank you for your hospitality, Mr. Slughorn."

Kevin and Harry put down the photo frame they were holding, spoke slowly to Horace, and then returned to Dumbledore's side.

Are you leaving?

Seeing Kevin and Harry about to leave, Horace seemed to have so much to say to them, filled with reluctance.

"Yes, Horace, I think you know why I came to see you, but judging from your expression, you still seem reluctant to come back and teach them."

Dumbledore placed his hands on Kevin and Harry's shoulders with a look of regret.

"Merlin's beard? Who said that? Of course I'd be happy to teach them!"

Horace seemed afraid that Kevin and Harry would misunderstand that he didn't like them, so he quickly said something.

"Oh? You mean you're willing to teach at Hogwarts?" Dumbledore asked, amused.

"I...."

Horace was speechless for a moment.

"Albus, you're so mean!"

After a moment of mental turmoil, Horace gritted his teeth and said angrily.

"You must promise me you'll let me use Professor Miles's original office, not that break room! And you must give me a raise!"

Horace waved at Dumbledore with displeasure, making a gesture to drive him away.

"Oh, on behalf of the students of Hogwarts, I thank you for your contributions, Horace."

Dumbledore didn't mind Horace's little temper and laughed as if everything was going as expected.

After saying that, he led Kevin and Harry away from the place.
