Hogwarts: A little lion in the skin of the Eagle School

Chapter 33 An unexpected encounter with Hermione at the library

Since the chores were relatively simple, there was still a long time before curfew after they were finished.

So John stopped by the library on his way.

In this morning's Transfiguration class, Professor McGonagall assigned him a paper as a separate assignment.

Professor McGonagall's Transformation Diary contains practical transformation techniques and insights.

Therefore, those academic papers and similar materials cannot be found in this diary.

He had to go to the library to look up information himself.

When I arrived at the library, I found that there were quite a few people there.

After asking the librarian and finding the book he needed, John prepared to find a quiet corner to read.

Speaking of which, deep inside the library, there is a restricted area where lower-grade students are not allowed to enter.

Upperclassmen need a valid reason and the professor's permission to enter.

I wonder if there are any... uh, no, I should say, primers.

While walking through the library, I ran into an acquaintance, Hermione Granger.

She was sitting alone in a corner of the library, reading a book.

He looked somewhat annoyed.

As if noticing someone watching her, Hermione turned her head and looked at John in the corridor.

She blinked, seemingly surprised to meet John here, but after a brief pause, she smiled and waved to him.

John looked around to make sure she was waving at him before slowly walking over.

"Senior."

"Call her senior sister."

"..."

John greeted Hermione politely, but Hermione smiled and corrected John's form of address.

Hermione smiled when she saw the book "The Principles of Transfiguration" in John's hand.

"Did Professor McGonagall ask you to write a separate paper on transfiguration?"

How did you know?

John was also taken aback when he heard Hermione's words.

"Because I wrote it too."

Hermione pointed to herself and said.

Hermione did mention that she studied with Professor McGonagall for a period of time.

It seems that Professor McGonagall assigned similar tasks.

"Would you like some hints or guidance from your senior sister?"

"No need for that. This is a task Professor McGonagall gave me, and I have to complete it myself."

John shook his head at Hermione's offer and said slowly.

Hearing John's words, Hermione raised an eyebrow. This guy is actually quite honest.

If it were Harry or Ron, they would definitely be eager to copy their own homework to slack off.

However, John thought that following Hermione's lead in writing papers would definitely increase the plagiarism rate.

Although he didn't know if there was such a thing as a plagiarism check in this magical world.

But just to be on the safe side, I'll write it myself.

"However, senior, if there is a chance, I would like to ask you for some techniques and skills of Transfiguration."

John refused Hermione's help, but still politely made a trivial request to her.

That way, I won't disappoint the senior's good intentions.

This is what we call social skills and worldly wisdom.

"Sure, feel free to ask me anything anytime."

Hermione readily agreed to John's request.

The two didn't chat any further, since they both had a mission to complete when they came to the library.

John simply sat down next to Hermione, reading a book and writing his paper.

It is said that serious people radiate light.

Looking at John, who was engrossed in his studies, Hermione realized for the first time that having a study buddy wasn't so bad.

Harry and Ron are the two guys who will never read or study with me.

"Senior, could you help me figure out what this place means?"

"Let me see, this is it..."

John would occasionally ask Hermione about professional terms he hadn't yet learned.

Hermione would patiently help John answer his questions.

John was very clever and could learn almost anything after just one lesson, which made it particularly easy and comfortable for Hermione to teach him.

John finally finished his paper just before curfew.

After spending this short time together, the two became much more familiar with each other, and their way of addressing each other was no longer so formal.

"Hermione, thank you so much for teaching me so much today."

John looked at the stack of papers in his hands and said sincerely to Hermione.

"You're welcome. Even if I don't teach you, you'll learn those things quickly."

Hermione waved her hand and laughed dismissively.

Because John was there, her studies today were not as dull and boring as usual.

And having someone to discuss things with allowed her to temporarily forget her recent troubles, which even accelerated her own learning progress.

After finishing their study session, the two left the library together.

Since it was on the way to both the Gryffindor and Ravenclaw dormitories, they decided to go back together.

On the way, the two chatted idly, and Hermione suddenly brought up the Dementors attack at the start of the school year.

"John, weren't you afraid when you faced the Dementors head-on?"

When the Dementors attacked the train, Hermione and her friends' compartment also encountered Dementors.

Hermione clearly remembers being so terrified by the Dementor's ominous and chilling aura that she was almost unable to move.

There was no way to resist.

John, a first-year student, actually dared to stop the Dementors.

"Uh, I don't know..."

John shook his head at Hermione's question.

Don't you know whether you're afraid or not?

"I don't know how to describe my feelings at the time. If I had to say, there might have been some fearlessness of youth involved."

John shrugged, not boasting about how brave he was, but instead using an ambiguous way of describing it.

Even so, that's still amazing.

Hermione nodded, indicating that she understood John's point.

"Neville has praised you many times in our Gryffindor."

"Really? So I'm pretty famous in Gryffindor?"

John smiled upon hearing Hermione's words.

"certainly."

"However, you should still keep a low profile when necessary, John."

Hermione spoke to John in a tone befitting an elder.

"After all, the bigger the tree, the more the wind will blow against it; being too high-profile and seeking the limelight makes you a target."

John was slightly taken aback; Hermione was reminding him not to stand out too much.

John, however, didn't seem to mind and continued to laugh.

"When it comes to stealing the spotlight, isn't Harry Potter the one who steals the spotlight the most?"

John mentioned Harry, the Savior, who is a household name in the wizarding world; no one can outshine him in terms of fame.

"Hmm...that's true."

"So some annoying guys have already clashed with him."

Hermione nodded and said so, while John remained silent.

The two arrived at the Gryffindor common room.

Their lounge entrance is located on the spiral staircase, and the entrance is marked by a tall, moving oil painting.

"Madam, good fortune is upon you."

Hermione spoke to the portrait of the woman in the oil painting.

This is their secret code for entering the common room in Gryffindor.

Soon the plump lady in the oil painting spoke up with a smile: "Okay, darling, come in."

As the plump lady finished speaking, the oil painting opened like a door, revealing a hidden passageway inside.

John raised an eyebrow at the sight; it was truly astonishing.

"Okay, John, thanks for bringing me back. See you next time."

Hermione went inside, then turned back and waved her little hand at John.

John waved back and replied with a smile, "See you next time."

Then John lifted his foot and continued walking up the stairs.

Hermione smiled slightly as she watched John's departing figure.

This junior brother is quite a gentleman.

He could have taken the shortcut directly to Ravenclaw's tower, but he insisted on accompanying her to the entrance of Gryffindor before returning alone.

However, John simply wanted to see what the Gryffindor dormitories were like.
