Hogwarts: A little lion in the skin of the Eagle School
Chapter 255 A Special Christmas Gift
The next morning.
A knock came at the door, and John groggily opened his eyes.
Today is Christmas Day, and he spent the night at Hermione's house last night.
"John, get up."
Hermione's voice could be heard calling from outside the door.
"What's wrong, so early in the morning..."
John opened the door sleepily; at this hour in his own home, he would still be fast asleep.
"It's already nine o'clock. Your aunt and uncle are calling you downstairs to open your Christmas presents."
Hermione, dressed impeccably, stood outside the door with her hands on her hips and addressed him.
John could only rub his messy hair and shuffle downstairs behind her in his slippers.
In the living room, the Christmas tree lights were still on, and layers of gift boxes were piled up under the tree.
They both have two children.
Some came from friends at Hogwarts, and others from both sets of parents.
The gifts from friends were mostly common stationery or snacks. It's worth mentioning that Ryan's gift was delivered by Titus on his behalf.
Even Harry sent him a gift, but he didn't prepare a gift for Harry. How careless of him!
The gifts from elders were relatively normal—sweaters, scarves, jars of handmade cookies, and a few hardcover books with gold foil covers.
Finally, there was Hermione's gift.
It was a gray-black cloak with a dark blue lining, the black and blue colors adding to its mystery as the cloak swayed.
On the back of the cloak, a wide, bright blue light path meandered down, containing fine points of light, like a solidified star trail.
The cloak is not overly extravagant, yet it highlights its unique style.
"How is it? Do you like it?"
Hermione stood beside him and said with a smile.
Her eyes held both anticipation and nervousness, her little hands clasped together behind her back.
John gently traced the cool blue light pattern with his fingertips, his eyes filled with delight and anticipation.
It's clear that Hermione made this herself, keeping it low-key while also catering to her showy nature by creating this special strip of light.
It's easy to imagine that Hermione spent more time on this cloak than on studying.
John simply raised his hand, shook out the cloak, swung it around, and draped it over his shoulders.
The black cloak slowly draped down, enveloping John completely, all the way to his ankles.
The front is slightly open, but the two ends can be fastened with a silver chain.
From the front, it looks like a very ordinary black cloak, the kind that everyone at Hogwarts has.
But once the cloak billowed, the blue inside and the blue light band behind it seemed to come alive, suddenly flowing and pulsating.
"How is it? Handsome, right?"
The moment John donned his cloak, Hermione was momentarily stunned to see his head tilted slightly to the side, a confident smile playing on his lips.
"...vain."
After a moment of distraction, Hermione turned her head and gave a soft hum, refusing to offer any comment.
She knelt down and began to unwrap the gift John had given her.
The gift box was small and didn't seem to be able to hold any large items.
Hermione gently opened the package and found a small, dark brown pouch inside, its opening tied with a thin silver thread, and a line of small words embroidered on it in silver thread.
——To My Brightest Girl
—Dedicated to my most intelligent girl
Hermione paused slightly when she saw the small bag.
Intuitively, she didn't think John would give her an ordinary bag.
Secondly, visually, the bag has obvious signs of handcrafting and a sense of meticulous design.
She twirled the silver thread between her fingers and gently pulled—the bag's opening came open.
The bag was pitch black inside, as if even the warm light flickering from the fireplace had been sucked in.
She slowly reached her hand inside.
She had half her arm inside, but still couldn't reach the bottom.
My first feeling was disbelief, but I quickly realized what was going on.
"The Seamless Stretching Spell?"
Hermione immediately turned around to look at John with delight.
John smiled and nodded.
"Well, I begged Professor Flitwick to teach me."
"And it's also registered with the Ministry of Magic, so it's guaranteed to be legal and compliant."
As he said this, he also made a peace sign, clearly quite pleased with himself.
Hermione knew that John was mainly learning Apparition from Professor Flitwick and Felix Felicis from Professor Snape this semester, and he also spent his free time reading books with her in the library.
They're just as busy as I am.
Yet she still took the time to learn the Seamless Stretch Spell and weave this meticulously designed bag.
As she explored, she could also find some bottles and jars of potions at the bottom of the bag, as well as a notebook with a parchment cover.
The notebook's title page only had John's name written on it, but when opened, it revealed a record of his experiences and learning notes during his time studying spells with Professor Flitwick.
"I've been keeping this book since I was in first grade, following Professor Flitwick. I originally wrote it so that I could lend it to Titus and the others to study... well, that's not important. What's important is that I think it should be useful to you."
Upon seeing the book being taken out, John scratched his head somewhat awkwardly and said...
Hermione couldn't help but laugh after hearing this.
"If you give me the book, what will happen to Titus and the others?"
"I can teach them myself," John said matter-of-factly.
"...Then you might as well give them the book and teach me yourself."
Hermione clearly sounded a hint of jealousy when she said this.
John was taken aback.
Hmm...that makes sense!
But he's already given it away, he can't very well ask for it back...
Seeing John's adorably dazed expression, Hermione couldn't help but laugh again.
"I still want the book. After all, it's a precious book filled with your own annotations and insights, and besides..."
"Anyway, you're mine. I can ask you to teach me whenever I want, right? You have to teach me, don't you?"
Wow, you've really figured out how to have your cake and eat it too.
John was shocked by Hermione's shameless words.
But he really couldn't refuse, so he could only smile and raise his hands in surrender: "Okay, okay, Miss Granger—the book is yours, and so am I."
Hermione's cheeks were slightly flushed, but she raised her chin, looking like an adorable little lion who had won a battle.
The parents on the sofa not far away watched the two children flirting and teasing each other, and they all smiled knowingly.
Mr. Granger, however, did not seem to be in a good mood.
Clearly, the effects of yesterday's alcohol have worn off...
