Hogwarts: A little lion in the skin of the Eagle School

Chapter 23 Senior Sister? Junior Brother?

If it's just a common pest, killing it is considered eliminating the pest, but if it's someone else's pet rat, then it's murder.

That almost ruined things...

Who would have thought that someone would keep a mouse as a pet?

After Orange was kicked away, Hermione quickly ran over, picked Orange up, and gently patted Orange's back to comfort it.

"Hermione! Your beast almost killed Scabbers!"

Ron yelled angrily at Hermione.

"Ron, you can't blame it. Catching mice is a cat's nature."

Hermione, though somewhat in the wrong, retorted defiantly.

Seeing the two arguing, John silently backed away, trying to hide from me...

I won't meddle in other people's business again next time...

John thought to himself silently.

After John left, they paid no attention to him, and it's unknown who won the argument with him in the end; he just wanted to get away from this troublesome place as soon as possible.

However, she hadn't gone far when she heard Hermione calling from behind, but it wasn't her calling him.

"Krok Mountain, where are you going? Come back soon."

Hermione chased after the big orange cat, whose name seemed to be something like Crookshanks, a rather strange name.

But John didn't turn around, pretending not to hear.

But the orange cat wasn't going to let him go. It ran up to him and pounced on John, climbing into his arms.

"Hey? What are you doing, Orange?"

John was now furious. "I finally escaped, why are you chasing me?"

But after the orange cat climbed into John's arms, it had a clear objective: it reached its paws into the pocket inside his school uniform.

With a single swipe of its claw, it pulled out a bag containing the sandwiches he had saved for the afternoon.

"Holy crap, do you really think I'm your meal ticket? Don't you have an owner?"

John reached out to take the bag back, but Big Orange, with the bag in its mouth, hopped down and disappeared around the corner in a few steps.

Then John and Hermione were left staring at each other in bewilderment.

Hermione felt a little embarrassed under John's gaze. She could argue with Ron when the cat was playing with the mouse, but now that Crookshanks had snatched food from someone else's arms right in front of her, she really didn't know what to say.

John, on the other hand, was afraid of being discovered. He seemed to know Orange very well, but then he thought about it again and realized that they had only met twice and were not really that close.

"Heh, it's nothing. Cats are just like that, lively, active, and prone to getting into trouble."

While Hermione was still figuring out how to start the conversation, John spoke first, his tone seemingly indifferent.

He just wanted to leave this troublesome place as soon as possible, so that when they met again, today's events would be none of his business.

When John spoke first, Hermione was taken aback. She felt that John sounded a little guilty. Why would he be guilty?

However, she quickly replied, "No, it really is Crookshan's fault. Once I catch it, I'll make it apologize to you next time."

"Haha, ha, it's okay, no need, I'll go first..." John gave a fake laugh and was about to leave casually, but Hermione suddenly called him back.

"I think I know you... You're the John Merrick, the freshman Neville was talking about, the one who dared to face Dementors head-on to save people, right?"

Hermione had actually recognized him a long time ago, but she only spoke up now to confirm it.

"Uh, yes." John nodded helplessly.

"You look guilty. Do you know something? Did you help Crookshanks catch Ron's rat?"

The clever Hermione became increasingly suspicious of John's attitude and made a bold guess.

"No, that's impossible, I don't know." John paused for a moment, then quickly shook his head in denial.

However, seeing this, Hermione could immediately predict the outcome.

He was watching the scene with great interest when it happened, but afterwards he acted like he had done something wrong and sneaked away.

Crookshank's demeanor just now clearly indicated that he recognized the person in front of him, so it's highly likely that this person helped Crookshank catch the mouse, which is why Crookshank recognized him.

"Hey, don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong. After all, who would think someone would keep a mouse as a pet?"

Hermione's tone was tinged with displeasure as she said this; Ron had argued with her many times recently because of the Crookshanks' capture of Scabbers.

She didn't understand what was so great about a mouse that it was worth arguing with herself over it.

John remained silent, only squinting his eyes and pouting, not daring to say anything.

Even when beating a dog, you have to consider its owner. After all, it's a mouse that only has its owner, so beating it is indeed wrong of them.

John helped catch the mice without knowing the truth, but he was in the wrong first, so it's hard to judge him.

Let them resolve their own conflict.

"Hmm? May I take a look at this book?"

Hermione shook her head, trying to stop thinking about these upsetting things, and then noticed a red book in John's hand that looked very familiar.

"Uh, sorry, this one won't do. The professor gave it to me, so I can't just show it to anyone else."

"It's Professor McGonagall's, isn't it? Her Metamorphosis Diary."

However, upon hearing that the professor had given it to John, Hermione immediately knew what the book was and confidently stated...

"Hmm? Did Professor McGonagall borrow from you too?" John asked, having considered this possibility.

"That's right, I returned it to her at the end of last semester." Hermione nodded proudly.

"In that case, you must also be a student recognized by Professor McGonagall, making you my junior."

Hermione then began to examine John more closely. To be recognized by Professor McGonagall, his talent was definitely not an issue. She had heard that he dared to confront Dementors to save people, so his character should also be impeccable.

"Huh? Junior brother?"

John paused, "Is this part involved? Professor McGonagall didn't mention it."

"What else?" Hermione raised her head proudly, hands on her hips, looking quite self-righteous.

"Oh right, I forgot to introduce myself. My name is Hermione Granger. You can just call me Hermione, and I'll just call you John."

"I have to go find Crook Mountain now. It keeps disappearing for a while and then coming back on its own. I need to keep an eye on it."

After saying goodbye to John, Hermione waved her hand and chased after the direction where the orange cat had disappeared.

Watching Hermione's disappearing figure, John scratched his head. She came and went so quickly. Sigh, he'd be hungry again this afternoon.

It's probably because I'm growing recently and getting hungry more easily.

John touched the empty pockets of his school uniform and sighed inwardly, worried that his body might be malnourished and not develop properly.

Next time, I need to divide the food into two portions.

He quite liked cats and dogs, so he wasn't angry about the orange tabby stealing his food. In his previous life, his cat had even climbed onto his dining table to eat with him.

I never expected to be used as a meal ticket by a cat I'd only met twice.

......

In the afternoon, the much-anticipated flight lesson finally arrived.

First-year students are not allowed to bring their own flying brooms to school, so the brooms they use in flying lessons are the standard brooms provided by the school.

Flying is humanity's ultimate dream.

But when John actually saw a broom placed in front of him, he couldn't help but complain.

Won't this thing cause any problems with your testicles if you straddle it?
