The Mad Warriors

Chapter 24 is not an illusion.

A day and a night had passed since Wang Xuan woke up. During that time, he kept muttering to himself, "I really saw aliens, I'm not kidding you."

"I even saw a witch."

"Some people also breathe fire, control water, and throw stones."

After Wang Xuan said these things again and again, not to mention the doctor, even Liang Zhixia began to wonder if there was something wrong with Wang Xuan's head.

Could it be that Wang Xuan's head has really been struck by lightning and gone mad?

Wang Xuan truly didn't understand why Liang Zhixia would follow the doctor's advice and bind herself with a restraint belt.

Wang Xuan shook his arms, but they were bound and he couldn't move them. Looking at Liang Zhixia by the bedside with a confused expression, Wang Xuan said, "I'm not mentally ill, why are you controlling me like this?" Wang Xuan truly didn't understand.

Liang Zhixia looked genuinely embarrassed: "Who told you to talk nonsense? If you're so capable, go ahead and call me a demon!" Wang Xuan rolled his eyes at Liang Zhixia's words. This Liang Zhixia was really stubborn; she believed whatever the doctor said. After all, she was a doctor.

Wang Xuan lay down helplessly, still muttering to himself, "Something's wrong with this." Wang Xuan was certain that what he saw might be an illusion, but he had never been struck by lightning.

"What's the problem? See for yourself." Liang Zhixia even turned on the video on her phone. The video was footage from a surveillance camera, showing Wang Xuan being struck by lightning.

Wang Xuan closed his eyes, not watching. He had already watched the video after waking up. Indeed, Wang Xuan was now in a state of self-questioning, with two questions before him. If he had been struck by lightning, then everything would be easily explained, which seemed to be the best explanation.

However, the second one is not so simple. If Wang Xuan wasn't struck by lightning, then what caused his coma?

Now, Wang Xuan's biggest concern isn't the lightning strike itself, but the reality of the events he experienced before he fell into a coma. Initially, until his death, Wang Xuan believed it was all a hallucination. But now, considering the reverse perspective, he no longer believes it.

Wang Xuan wasn't stupid; he hadn't made his way in the underworld with a shred of wits. If the saying "something unusual must be amiss" applied, it wouldn't be more fitting. What haunted Wang Xuan most now was that if he didn't admit to being struck by lightning, he would have to admit that everything he experienced before losing consciousness was real.

Reverse reasoning method.

Why do I say this? Because if the second possibility is true, then someone is trying their best to make Wang Xuan forget those things.

Having spent so much time in the underworld, Wang Xuan had indeed encountered someone indoctrinated with false ideas before.

Judging from the current situation, everyone believes Wang Xuan was struck by lightning. What's even more exaggerated is that the news has reported on it. So, is this really true?

Wang Xuan had been awake for a day and a night. Before he was restrained, he went to the hospital entrance to observe the situation. Aside from road construction, there were no clues at the hospital entrance. He even went across the street to inquire, but there seemed to be nothing there.

"Lie down for a bit, the psychologist will be here soon," Liang Zhixia reminded Wang Xuan. Wang Xuan raised his head, puzzled. "Why are you calling a psychologist for me?"

Liang Zhixia shrugged: "You're already like this. If you don't see a psychologist and get treatment early, I'm afraid our child will have brain problems later." Wow, Liang Zhixia really thinks things through for a long time.

That is, the helplessness Wang Xuan felt in his heart, he didn't have any problems at all. But as people say, even the mentally ill think they are perfectly normal.

Knock, knock, knock. Someone knocked on the door and came in. A short woman, who looked to be only 1.5 meters tall, walked in with a serious expression, wearing black-rimmed glasses and carrying a bag, just like a middle school Chinese teacher.

Liang Zhixia immediately stood up: "Hello, are you Ms. Shen Ling?" Ms. Shen Ling remained indifferent and sat down directly opposite Wang Xuan: "Let him go, it's alright."

Liang Zhixia then stuck out her tongue and released Wang Xuan, saying, "Honey, I'm sorry." Wang Xuan, now free, rolled his eyes at Liang Zhixia, picked up his phone, and checked the time. "It's already afternoon! Aren't you going to give me lunch? Go buy some."

As Ms. Shen Ling bent down to take something out of her bag, she said, "Madam, please go out first. I need to talk to him alone."

Shen Ling, head down, filled out a form and casually asked Wang Xuan, "Tell me how you feel!" Wang Xuan had no desire to talk to a psychologist and, looking at his phone, replied nonchalantly, "I don't feel anything."

After writing something, Shen Ling looked up at Wang Xuan and said, "You're very lucky. Don't you want to buy a lottery ticket?"

Wang Xuan was both amused and exasperated by Shen Ling's words: "What do you mean?"

Shen Ling continued writing on the form: "The chances of an average person surviving a lightning strike are almost zero, yet you're completely unharmed. Shouldn't you buy a lottery ticket to celebrate?"

But when Shen Ling glanced at Wang Xuan, she found him looking at his phone, which seemed a bit disrespectful.

Shen Ling coughed deliberately, "Ahem, I'm just here to conduct a psychological evaluation of you. Please respect me no matter what!" Wang Xuan, however, kept his head down, operating his phone. But Wang Xuan did look up at Shen Ling, "It's alright, you can continue."

Shen Ling placed the pen on the cardboard: "My assessment will require you to undergo up to a year of psychological treatment, or you may be discharged directly; the choice is yours." So, having a psychologist is quite crucial. Hearing this, Wang Xuan seemed to finally calm down and put down his phone: "Okay then."

As he said this, Wang Xuan smiled slightly, but his smile seemed to conceal some unknown secret, and had a somewhat cunning meaning.

Shen Ling stood up and walked step by step to Wang Xuan's side, picked up the pen in her hand and waved it in front of Wang Xuan's eyes: "Look at the pen tip." Wang Xuan's eyes followed the movement of the pen tip.

But just then, Shen Ling asked, "Did you see the fire-breathing woman's appearance clearly?" When this question was suddenly asked, Wang Xuan immediately looked directly into Shen Ling's eyes. But it was just a simple glance, and Wang Xuan felt as if he were staring into a black hole, a black hole so deep that it was about to suck his soul in.

"Answer me, did you see her clearly?" Shen Ling's voice drifted into Wang Xuan's ears, and at that moment, fragmented memories deep within Wang Xuan's mind were awakened, and the face of the fire-breathing woman appeared in his mind. But, in a fleeting moment, the abyss sucked the fire-breathing woman's face into it.

At this moment, Wang Xuan seemed to be under someone's control, his eyes vacant as Shen Ling asked the next question: "Show me what that water-controlling man looks like." Immediately, fragments of memory in Wang Xuan's mind revealed the man's appearance, which was then swallowed up by the deep black hole.

Just as the eerie Shen Ling was about to question the next person, Wang Xuan, whom she controlled, suddenly asked her, "Do you want to see the evil spirit in my heart?" As soon as Wang Xuan asked Shen Ling this question, Shen Ling's eyebrows furrowed. Suddenly, Shen Ling, who was controlling Wang Xuan's perspective, saw a hellish sea of fire. In the sea of fire, there were many, many remains, and living people being burned and begging for mercy, groaning. Suddenly, a large bloody hand reached for Shen Ling's eyes.

"Ah!" Shen Ling retreated in horror.

Seemingly freed from Shen Ling's mental control, Wang Xuan shook his head laboriously. Shen Ling, however, looked at Wang Xuan as if he were a monster: "You!"

Wang Xuan pulled a bloodstained needle from under the covers and tossed it away, a sinister smile playing on his lips. "Hmph, you're not a real psychologist." Shen Ling quickly regained her composure, putting away her pen and looking at Wang Xuan with interest. "Oh? Then who am I?"

Wang Xuan pulled his left hand out from under the covers. The tip of his left index finger had been pricked by a needle and was still bleeding. Therefore, Wang Xuan used the excruciating pain to break free from Shen Ling's control.

Wang Xuan began listing his suspicions: "First, the most important thing for a psychologist when seeing a patient is to make the patient feel comfortable, so that the patient won't resist. And you're so unlike a psychologist, so I had someone investigate you. Shen Ling, a staff member at the Water Resources Bureau, interesting. If I'm not mistaken, you seem to have some kind of ability to control people!"

Wang Xuan could tell from Shen Ling's shocked expression that his guess was absolutely correct.

Shen Ling didn't say anything, but Wang Xuan tapped his head: "I really didn't expect this. I really thought those were hallucinations. Now it's clear they weren't hallucinations at all, right?"

Shen Ling did not answer, but her appearance had already given Wang Xuan a definite answer.

Wang Xuan suddenly sighed, which was strange.

"What are you sighing about? The authorities don't allow ordinary people to know anything outside their rights. You should be glad you know some top secrets." As Shen Ling spoke, Wang Xuan shook his head with a wry smile and said, "Heh, so you came. It's obvious you're here to erase my memories. So, I want to ask, what is your ability?"

Shen Ling casually replied, "Mind Catcher."

In truth, Wang Xuan was terrified. Everything had been confirmed; what he initially thought was an illusion was now real. So, just as Shen Ling had said, the authorities didn't allow ordinary people to know about certain special events.

Wang Xuan gave a sighing answer: "My sigh is because now that I know, what am I supposed to do? Will you lock me up?"

Even Shen Ling herself is now shaking her head. Shen Ling's answer is also very direct: "You are the first person with strong mental power that I have met. Moreover, your past is full of killing. You are a very scary person. I will suggest that the authorities detain you. After all, your heart is hell."

In a split second, Wang Xuan's eyes sharpened: "Oh?" Shen Ling was startled and took a step back. She knew exactly what Wang Xuan was going to do.

Shen Ling quickly scolded Wang Xuan, "Don't do anything reckless. There are experts from our department outside." But to everyone's surprise, Wang Xuan immediately lay down on the hospital bed, seemingly having instantly lost interest in Shen Ling: "You can leave now. Go back and tell your superiors that I'm just an ordinary citizen now and don't want to get involved in anything."

Shen Ling seemed very afraid of Wang Xuan, and immediately left after picking up her things.

Perhaps only Shen Ling herself knows what she saw in Wang Xuan's heart at that moment.
