Esoteric Buddhism: To live as king in America
Chapter 38 The End of the Adventure
This time, what appeared before him was a slaughterhouse that seemed to be smeared with blood.
Large splatters of bright red blood were everywhere—on the walls, the ceiling, even on the small sink. It was as if a brutal massacre had just taken place here.
This was a scene completely different from what they had seen during the morning's visit. However, the excessively horrifying sight left Mian unsure whether it was a true reenactment of the day the victim was murdered, or simply some kind of exaggerated symbolism.
However, none of that matters. Since this thing is here, it means there's a high probability that the magic array is here.
Despite the combined physical and psychological discomfort, Mian quickly scanned the bloody hell before her eyes.
Soon, he noticed an inconspicuous, half-person-high storage cabinet embedded in the wall of the bathroom.
Mian dragged Shirley along, using the towel rack and washbasin as footholds, and arrived at the cabinet. Without hesitation, he opened the cabinet door, inside which were scattered several rolls of gauze, some women's toiletries, and several medicine bottles—the labels indicating that they were all antidepressants.
And at the very back of the cabinet, a simple wooden photo frame lay quietly.
The photo in the frame shows a smiling female office worker nestled next to a beaming blond white man; the background appears to be a park.
It was just an ordinary couple's photo. Mian took the photo out of the frame and looked at the back of it.
There was a line of crooked, unevenly written Dong Sheng Zhou script written there in black ink, along with a signature in Da Yang script.
"Wishing you a better tomorrow - Mike"
Mian remained silent. Out of respect for the deceased, she folded the photo in half and stuffed it into the pocket of her underwear.
The photo frames were no longer obscuring the view inside the cabinet, revealing a black statue hidden behind it and the core runes of the magic circle painted on the wall.
Mian took a deep breath and, without any hesitation, grabbed Shirley tightly with her left hand and used her right hand to grab another broken chair leg that was in the bedroom and slammed it into the magic circle and the statue.
This time, Mian also clearly felt that the rough chair leg in his hand was filled with some kind of invisible force, making the stab no longer a simple physical impact.
In the instant his arm swung, that fragile and soft aluminum alloy seemed to truly transform into an indestructible king's sword.
"Break it for me."
"Snap!"
As the chair leg precisely pierced the core of the magic array, a deafening explosion, like a massive glass dome being shattered by a heavy hammer, echoed all around.
The entire bathroom, along with the bedroom outside, and even the entire chaotic spatial dimension, wailed in despair at this moment.
The congealed blood on the walls seemed to come alive, writhing, flowing, and evaporating wildly. The ground beneath our feet undulated violently like waves. Light was torn into countless fragments. Countless fragments of scenes from different floors and different times flashed, pieced together, and vanished wildly like a runaway kaleidoscope.
Space shattered and crumbled once again before Mian. A sense of falling instantly engulfed him, Sherry, and Leo, who was still fiercely fighting the monster outside.
This was clearly very different from the scene during the previous spatial transfer, and instead reminded Mian of the enemy's attack in the corridor.
"Is that beast causing trouble? Trying to stop me from moving forward? Looks like I really did find the right place."
Having already experienced this, Mian was not flustered. She simply held onto the unconscious Shirley tightly and took a step forward.
The magical scene shattered once again, and all the swirling, chaotic images instantly subsided like ripples disappearing on the surface of water.
Looking up, Mian saw the dazzling crescent moon and the billions of rays of light surrounding it.
Mian had already arrived at the origin of all the murders—the rooftop of the 22nd floor of the Jinfu Building.
Now standing outside this building, Mian once again confirmed that he and the building were in a space of some kind of will.
The streetscape of Mosha Street and the towering buildings of the Black Tower District in the distance seemed veiled by several layers of light gauze, appearing ethereal and blurry. Only the buildings beneath our feet and the stars and moon in the sky seemed to truly exist in this space.
Mian immediately noticed that among the countless stars, one seemed particularly bright, almost comparable to the crescent moon.
It flickered restlessly, carrying a chilling murderous intent. Mian always felt that the star wanted to shatter everyone who stepped into this realm into pieces.
But at this moment, it seems to be blocked by an invisible medium, unable to succeed. And that medium originates from the building itself.
Mian felt a throbbing sensation in his head. He didn't know why, but it seemed that just standing there and looking at the starry sky for a moment had caused these random thoughts to pop into his head. It was as if these thoughts had chased after him and crawled into his mind.
"Well, in hindsight, not opening the window was the right decision. If I had opened it and broken the building's barrier, who knows how that star would have treated me."
"What about Ain? That reckless child who lacks common sense, what if she accidentally opened the window?"
The thought of Ayn deepened Mian's anxiety.
"Resolve this quickly and go find her."
Meanwhile, the sounds of battle on the other side gradually subsided. Leo, gripping the sword on the chair leg, was panting heavily, his body covered in wounds inflicted by the monster.
His fervor ultimately couldn't completely mask his exhaustion and the pain from his wounds. But thankfully, it seemed he no longer needed to endure it.
The monster was trembling all over. It had far fewer wounds than Leo, and its movements were as strong and powerful as before, without any change.
But at this moment, it was as if its time had come. Its body disintegrated and melted under the moonlight, and even its dark color faded rapidly, leaving only a puddle of water and a bloody sheet of dough.
The elemental fairy has calmed down and has now retreated to its home pond.
"grown ups?"
Leo turned his head in confusion to look at Mian, who walked over to him and patted him on the shoulder.
"That guy's time's up. Never mind all that, destroy the magic array here, and we'll take care of everything."
Leo nodded excitedly and crossed the chair leg across his chest.
On the empty rooftop, there is only one possible location for the magic array.
Leo rushed forward at lightning speed and swung his chair leg at the water tank.
The steel water tank was cleanly slashed open by an invisible sword, and the space before him shattered once more. But this time, without that guy's interference, Mian moved on to the next location without any hindrance.
"Is this a corridor?"
Mian frowned and looked at the nearest house number, which had a string of incredibly clear and cold numbers written on it.
"17-3"
