I revived the Demonic Sect in North America
Chapter 31 Alice's Bar
Esmi's heart was pounding, and her fingers involuntarily curled up.
Li Ang keenly noticed Emily's condition and quickly asked with concern:
"What's wrong, Emily? Haven't you been to the South Bronx before?"
Emily nodded and said:
"I've never been here before."
Li Ang smiled slightly and said:
"Are you a little scared?"
Emily blushed slightly and honestly admitted:
"A little."
Li Ang didn't say anything, but simply reached out and grasped Emily's cold hand.
Li Ang's palm was warm and surprisingly strong.
Aismi paused for a moment, instinctively trying to pull her hand back, but found that Leon was holding it very tightly.
That force carried an undeniable certainty.
Emily is inherently a sensitive person.
Her cheeks instantly burned, and the tips of her ears turned bright red.
She opened her mouth as if to say something, hesitated for a moment, and ultimately remained silent, obediently letting Li Ang lead her forward, her steps hurried as she followed him.
Their destination, Alice Bar, was hidden at the intersection of two alleys on a street corner.
The bar's facade was in a terrible state of disrepair.
The faded red sign was half gone, and the two characters "Aili" on it were obscured by grease.
The windows outside the shop were covered with layers of old newspapers, completely blocking out the interior, with only a sliver of dim light leaking through the gaps in the corners.
Li Ang was the first to push open the door and enter. The metal door handle of the shop was rusty and made a sharp, piercing creak.
The shop was dimly lit and damp, filled with a stronger smell of smoke, sweat, alcohol, and marijuana than the street.
Emily followed Li Ang through the door, looking around curiously.
The interior walls were peeling and mottled, and yellowed adult posters were plastered everywhere.
Several dilapidated wooden tables and chairs were placed crookedly, with dried stains still clinging to the corners.
A huge U-shaped bar is set up on the left side of the entrance.
A burly, blond white man was leaning back behind the bar, wiping down the plastic shaker cups used for mixing drinks.
The burly man's shoulders were as broad as a wall, and the muscles on his arms bulged so much they seemed about to burst out of his black vest.
Compared to him, Justin, who previously came from Tribec High School, was like a chick that hadn't even grown up yet.
Li Ang pulled Emily straight up to the burly man, tapped the bar counter, and said casually:
"Hey Kevin, I'm starving! Could you please get me a Margherita pizza, the usual extra large, and don't skimp on the cheese!"
As he spoke, Li Ang frantically winked at Kevin and subtly gestured with his chin toward Emily.
The implication couldn't be clearer.
Kevin paused for a moment, holding the rag in his hand.
His gaze swept quickly over Li Ang, then glanced at the somewhat uneasy Aismi behind him, and he instantly understood.
"Oh! Look who's here! Our little genius scholar, Li Ang!"
Kevin casually tossed the cup into the sink, making a loud clatter.
Then, an exaggeratedly surprised smile immediately spread across his fleshy face, and he deliberately raised his voice, saying loudly:
"Wow, wow, wow! Did the sun rise in the west today? This is the first time I've ever seen you bring a girl here! Well done, Dongxiao! This girl is really something!"
After saying that, Kevin leaned his massive frame against the bar and winked at Esme, saying:
"Hey, sweetheart, if you hadn't come with Li Ang today, I would have really thought he was gay!"
Li Ang grinned, neither confirming nor denying Kevin's claim that Emily was his girlfriend, but instead chuckled and teased him familiarly:
"Hey Kevin, of course I can't be gay, I'm just picky! I won't bring just anyone to your shop until I meet the girl I love."
Emily stood next to Li Ang, her face burning even more.
Her hands instinctively clasped together, her eyes darting away, not daring to look at Kevin or Li Ang, wishing she could disappear into the ground, her ears filled only with the pounding of her own heartbeat.
Li Ang glanced at Emily, then turned back to give Kevin a "well done" look, and led Emily through several tables, heading straight to the innermost corner of the bar.
It was partially obscured by a tattered curtain, the darkest and most secluded spot, where one was unlikely to be disturbed.
He pulled Emily to sit facing him, then leaned forward slightly, placing his hands on the table in a gesture to Emily to relax.
Under Li Ang's deliberate flattery and guidance, the two engaged in a passionate conversation about idealism.
Emily did most of the talking, while Li Ang listened.
During the process, Li Ang occasionally chimed in, and his suggestions were often spot-on.
This immediately amazed Emily, who had been holed up in the campus, working in isolation.
Emily's eyes grew brighter and brighter, and she couldn't help but exclaim with delight:
"Yes, you're right... My God, Leon, how do you know so much? It seems like there's no problem that can stump you!"
Li Ang smiled but didn't reply, instead continuing to gaze intently at Emily.
His gaze was like a pair of large, tangible hands, gently caressing Emily's smooth forehead, her cheeks slightly flushed with excitement, and her cherry-like, alluring lips.
Emily also noticed Li Ang's fiery and aggressive gaze.
Her voice gradually faded, and her heartbeat began to pound erratically again.
A feeling of shyness and joy quietly spread through Emily's heart.
Just then, a strange, undisguised scream and a muffled thud of violent collision suddenly came from the booth next to Emily's.
Interspersed among the sounds were the rhythmic creaking of wooden chairs.
Their conversation came to an abrupt end.
Emily was initially confused, but after listening intently for a while, she suddenly remembered the blonde prostitute she had seen in the mouse hole that night.
Her entire face flushed bright red instantly, all the way to the tips of her ears, and her eyes widened in terror as she unconsciously murmured:
"Oh my God..."
Li Ang also muttered a curse under his breath:
"Oh, shit! Those shameless dogs!"
He reacted very quickly, immediately getting up and walking over to Emily, sitting down right next to her.
Then Li Ang reached out and pulled Emily into his arms without hesitation.
At the same time, he used both arms to tightly hold Emily's ears.
Emily froze, unsure of what to do with her hands and feet.
Fortunately, Li Ang was very gentlemanly and didn't do anything inappropriate while holding her.
With Li Ang's reassurance, Emily's tense emotions gradually calmed down.
"I'm so sorry, Emily, for putting you in such an embarrassing situation."
Li Ang apologized:
"These idiots in the South Bronx are so repressed, they can't even stand the motel next door. Oh, as a fellow Southbone resident, I'm ashamed of them!"
Emily didn't reply, and kept her head buried in Li Ang's arms.
