The morning sunlight streamed into the dining room through the windows, and Lin Luo and Ailand ate their breakfast in silence.

Last night, Ailand informed Linluo that the Insect King would be summoning him.

"Why does the Insect King want to see me?"

Lin Luo put down her cutlery, but still couldn't help asking the question that had been bothering her.

He considered himself merely a "wild" male insect that had suddenly appeared, and wondered what merit he had to attract the attention of the empire's supreme ruler.

Eland wiped the corner of his mouth:

"His Majesty heard that you had been wandering far from home for many years. Now that you have returned safely, he is simply expressing his concern and asking routine questions. You don't need to think too much about it."

"So... is there anything I should pay special attention to when meeting the Insect King?"

Lin Luo was still a little nervous, after all, he was about to meet the highest leader of the entire Zerg.

"...Just perform normally," Aland replied, but Lin Luo keenly caught the hesitation in his eyes.

"Ayland," Lin Luo asked in a low voice, "is there anything else you want to tell me?"

Aylander was silent for a moment:

"Your Majesty... may be particularly concerned about your mental state. If, and I mean if, you sense anything... unusual, please remain calm and do not show it."

Lin Luo's doubts deepened. "Unusual?"

But seeing that Eland was reluctant to speak, and even had a somewhat enigmatic expression, he temporarily suppressed his questions and nodded: "I understand."

------

The palace was magnificent yet cold. Lin Luo and Ailand were led into the audience hall by a servant.

"Lin Luo," the Insect King's voice was calm.

"I heard that you had been wandering far from home for a long time, and it took you a lot of hardship to finally return to the Empire. Now that you're on the capital planet, are you adjusting well?"

Lin Luo bowed slightly and replied respectfully, "Your Majesty, everything is fine. Thank you for your concern."

"Hmm," the Insect King nodded slightly, his gaze seemingly casually sweeping over Lin Luo's entire body.

"I've heard about the attacks a few days ago. I heard you were there too. Were you alright? Were you injured?"

"Your Majesty's concern is appreciated," Lin Luo carefully chose his words.

"It was indeed a bit of a surprise at the time, but with Major General Ailand and many female soldiers protecting me, I..."

As they were talking, suddenly, a cold, sharp force, like an invisible tentacle, pierced into his mind without warning!

Lin Luo froze, almost instinctively wanting to resist, but Eland's warning instantly exploded in his mind!

He forcefully suppressed all his unusual behavior, compelling himself to maintain a steady speaking pace.

"...I wasn't injured, it was just a false alarm."

He didn't even change his facial expression; only his clenched fingers hanging at his sides betrayed the turmoil in his heart.

"That's good. Every male insect in the empire is a precious treasure." The insect king's words remained gentle.

Finally, when the Insect King uttered the last word, the feeling of being probed suddenly subsided.

Only then did Lin Luo realize that his back was soaked in cold sweat.

The Insect King, finding nothing amiss, turned his gaze to Eland, inquired about the Seventh Fleet's situation, and finally gave a meaningful word of advice:

"Major General Ailand, do not disappoint Arnold's expectations of you."

Eland lowered his head and replied in a deep voice, "Yes, Your Majesty."

-----

After leaving the audience hall and boarding the hovercar to return, Lin Luo finally let out a long sigh of relief, his tense nerves finally relaxing.

"What...what was that just now?" He looked at Eland with lingering fear.

Eland shook his head: "I'm not entirely sure either, I only know that His Majesty seems to possess some kind of special ability."

Lin Luo suppressed this question in his heart and stopped asking. However, his fear of the Insect King deepened even more.

----

The Insect King slowly returned to his palace, where a beautiful female attendant named Ryan immediately stepped forward silently and knelt respectfully on the ground.

"Your Majesty," Ryan said softly and obediently.

"Get up." The Insect King's face was pale, and his voice seemed weak.

Ryan got up as instructed, keeping his eyes down the whole time.

The Insect King's gaze swept over him, finally settling on his magnificent attire, and he spoke softly:

"This outfit doesn't suit you."

Upon hearing this, Ryan's body tensed instantly, his fingertips trembled slightly, and he used almost all his willpower to suppress the urge to immediately apologize.

"Let it go this time," the Insect King seemed weary, waving his hand. "Go."

"Yes! Thank you, Your Majesty!" Ryan felt as if he had been granted a pardon and quickly and quietly withdrew.

Soon after, the bedroom door was pushed open again, and Arnold walked in.

The Insect King looked up at him, a cold smile playing on his lips:

"What's wrong, my marshal? Are you afraid I'll harm your prized student, so you rushed over to 'save the bug'?"

Arnold looked at the Insect King's bloodless face and said calmly, "Your Majesty is overthinking it. I had no such intention."

"Overthinking?" The Insect King's voice suddenly rose, tinged with anger.

"Arnold, my queen, I have bestowed upon you unparalleled glory and authority! Do you think this military has become Arnold's domain, to the point that even my concern for one of my subjects is subject to your scrutiny?!"

"Your Majesty, I had no such intention! I..." Arnold tried to explain.

"That's enough!"

The Insect King interrupted him sharply, flicking his finger impatiently, "Arnold, get out of my sight! Now!"

Marshal Arnold's jaw tightened for a moment, but he swallowed all his words, gave a deep bow, and silently turned and left the palace.

The heavy palace gates slowly closed.

The next second, a crisp, ear-piercing cracking sound came from behind.

The Insect King swung the exquisite wine glass on the table, shards and wine splashing everywhere, reflecting his gloomy and unpredictable face.
