Reincarnated as a blue dragon, he collided head-on with a wizarding civilization.
Chapter 29 Blood Sand Eagle
With a flap of its wings, the green tile gracefully soared into the sky parallel to Motu.
Her emerald green vertical pupils narrowed slightly as she stared at the blue dragon's fluid flight, a genuine hint of surprise flashing within them.
She flew around Motu for a short distance, as if examining some novel object, her serrated mouth slowly opening into an arc.
"Wow, not bad, tough as nails!"
Her tone carried a hint of surprise, and her voice rose slightly.
"You fly like that...it doesn't look like a newly hatched chick at all. The angle of your wingspan, your perception and utilization of the changing airflow below—you're quite skilled!"
She leaned closer, her gaze filled with scrutiny and suspicion:
"Practiced secretly? That doesn't make sense—"
She tilted her head, recalling...
"I remember it clearly, didn't our Nest Mother's dragon breeding farm prohibit dragon bloodlines from flying freely? There were flocks of Fierce Claw Dragon Eagles watching from the sky!"
"Perhaps... I'm just more talented."
Motu avoided her probing gaze, his wings maintaining a steady rhythm, and gave an ambiguous answer.
Fortunately, Green Tile wasn't very meticulous; its curiosity came and went quickly.
Seeing that Motu was unwilling to talk more, she didn't dwell on it, but simply shrugged and turned her attention back to what was in front of her.
"Alright!"
She turned her gaze northward to the faintly visible, mist-shrouded outline of the swamp, and a surge of eager excitement welled up within her.
She raised her head, let out a short and loud cry, flapped her wings, and accelerated suddenly, shooting northward like an emerald arrow, her long tail drawing a powerful arc behind her.
"Iron Bones' gone! Stay close, the road's long today, don't lose them!"
The sound was torn apart by the oncoming airflow, but the urging and provocation within it were clearly discernible.
Motu did not immediately give chase.
He slightly adjusted the curvature of the right wing membrane, precisely cutting into the edge of the wake created by Green Tile's flight, feeling the rhythm of that thrust.
Then, he gradually increased the force of his wingbeats, maintaining a steady distance, and followed steadily.
The wind blew from the front, and the blue dragon lowered its head slightly, letting the airflow glide over the membrane wings. Its body felt as if it were being supported by an invisible hand, making it stable and effortless.
This is what is referred to in flight experience as "taking advantage of the wind," which means not fighting against the wind head-on, but adjusting your attitude in the direction of the airflow to obtain the maximum lift with the least amount of force.
Green Tile flew ahead, occasionally glancing back to make sure he hadn't fallen behind.
"That's the Kuroki Market that Akino mentioned earlier."
After flying for a while, she suddenly pointed downwards with her tail.
Motu looked down.
A cluster of wooden houses and tents built along the river, not large in scale, but bustling with people.
From above, one can see people pausing in front of several stalls, some selecting goods, others haggling over prices. Occasionally, a wizard in a dark red robe walks between the tents, the hem of his robe fluttering in the wind, revealing silver runes embroidered beneath.
"This is a temporary trading area set up by the wizards of the Tower of Holy Blood."
Green Tile said,
Located at the border between the Dragon's Nest and the Wizard's Territory, the goods there are usually quite good. Monster materials, magical items, potions, and runic tools are exchanged.
But it's mainly humans trading, with some dragon-people and half-dragon-people as well. We dragon-blooded beings rarely go there.
"Do we need to go in?" Motu asked.
"What are you going in for?"
There was a hint of resistance in Green Tile's tone.
"Those humans are giving us uncomfortable looks, and we don't have their currency. What's the point of going there? Just to make ourselves uncomfortable?"
Motu didn't reply. He glanced around a few more times and memorized the location of the market.
The green-tiled roof showed no intention of landing, flying directly over the market.
"If you're interested, you can go in and take a look sometime."
The green dragon's voice, accompanied by the sound of the wind, came from ahead.
"But don't get your hopes up too high. Few people are willing to deal with us, the dragon bloodline."
The blue dragon neither confirmed nor denied this, but simply flapped its wings and struggled to keep up.
Continuing northward, the terrain began to change.
The hills gradually flattened out, replaced by a low-lying swamp.
The water was murky, overgrown with aquatic plants and dead shrubs, with black mudflats exposed in some places, emitting a putrid smell. Occasionally, bubbles would rise from underwater, pop open with a gurgling sound, and carry a sulfurous odor.
"Dark Water Swamp"
Green Tile's tone became more serious; she slowed her pace and pointed deeper into the wetland.
"That's the northernmost point of the Youshui River Basin. Beyond that lies the territory of the Kingdom of Shane."
That's their main entrance if the enemy wants to infiltrate.
The blue dragon looked toward the spot pointed to by the green tile. The dragon's innate keen eyesight, combined with his focused attention, allowed him to catch some unusual things below.
On the drier, harder muddy ground at the edge of the swamp, he saw several clear claw marks with drag marks, as well as scattered, dark brown feathers.
The base of the feathers appeared to be stained with dried dark red, and there were some small, gnawed bone fragments nearby.
Something was there.
He spoke in a deep voice, gesturing with his eyes to the marks.
"Flying creatures left behind claw marks and feathers."
Upon hearing this, Green Tile glanced at him sideways, a hint of surprise flashing in her emerald green vertical pupils:
"You have a sharp eye, newbie."
"It's a Blood Sand Hawk. Don't be nervous, these feathered bastards are cowards, they usually don't dare to go too far, they just wander around to scout things out and then retreat. We'll deal with them when they really dare to cross the line."
As she spoke, she lowered the flight altitude, gliding almost close to the tops of the withered bushes at the edge of the swamp.
Motu followed closely behind, his gaze sweeping over the murky water, the jagged mudflats, and the shadows that might conceal movement below.
"What is a Blood Desert Eagle?" he asked.
"The first-tier flying scouts trained in the Kingdom of Shane are specifically for spying and relaying messages."
Green Tile explained, his tone nonchalant.
"If you pick them up individually, they're a step weaker than us, and you can easily beat them one-on-one. But if you're unlucky enough to run into a group of three or more, you need to be careful."
However, they can't fly as fast as us, so it's not a big problem.
Blood Desert Eagle...
Motu seemed to be deep in thought, his gaze returning once more to the dark red bloodstains and bone fragments with teeth marks on the mudflats.
"Don't look at them anymore, those are traces left from our previous fight."
Green Tile didn't even need to look to know what he was paying attention to.
"One of our daily chores as a support team is dealing with these annoying birds. They fly fast, swarm in, and are fearless; they're quite persistent."
Motu silently noted: The first-tier flying units tamed by the Kingdom of Shane have lower individual combat strength than ordinary first-tier dragon bloodlines. Their characteristics are high speed, clustering, and reconnaissance and harassment.
Suddenly, his gaze paused, and he realized that the Blood Desert Eagle, in a sense, was actually quite a good match for the panel quest he had previously created.
Mission Two: [Path of Trials] Slay 10 flying units of the same tier solo. Reward: Intermediate Combat Flight Experience
("The Blue Dragon should be the ruler of the sky!")
Before the blue dragon could continue thinking, the green tile suddenly rose in height, leaving the sky above the Darkwater Swamp.
"Let's go, let's go. There's nothing to see here. I'll take you to a better place."
"What's a good place?"
You'll see when you get there!
