Motu's eyes flickered at the words of the Dragonman Overlord, but he did not refute them.

Shark White stood beside him, its three-layered serrated teeth tightly closed, and its tail, unlike usual, no longer swung back and forth, but instead obediently dragged on the ground.

It glanced at Motu furtively, but seeing that Motu didn't react, it looked away and stared at its paws on the gravel.

The Dragon-Man Commander closed the roster and leaned forward slightly.

The stone bench beneath him creaked with a dull thud, as if it were bearing considerable pressure.

"Of course, I understand."

His voice softened, no longer the cold, hard tone he used when reciting the rules, as if he were deliberately trying to ease the current atmosphere.

"There are always some dragon blood species that are unwilling to be confined to the nest mother's territory and want to go out to find their own way of life."

Therefore, the nest mother never forces anything.

As long as one serves in the territory for the required period of time and accumulates enough military merits, one can earn their freedom.

He raised a claw that gleamed coldly and tapped it lightly in the air, his tone now carrying a hint of seduction:

"The military here can be exchanged for a lot of things—dazzling gems, rare materials that can be used to create high-level spells, legendary weapons that can be engraved into epics... and even territory."

He paused, his gaze sweeping over the two of them, and emphasized his tone:

"This entire Youshui River basin is under the control of the Nest Mother, but as long as you have enough military merits, you can carve out a piece of territory that belongs entirely to you."

Want to become a lord? Sure, just exchange military merits for it.

Upon hearing about the exchange of military merits, Shark White's ears perked up instantly, but those ears drooped down after only two seconds.

It stared at the claws the other was gesturing with, its tail tip lazily sweeping the ground, clearly uninterested in them.

territory?

Lord?

It hasn't even found a warm pool where it can take a bath, so what's the point of having that damn place?

But what the warlord said next made the dragon tense up completely.

"Military merits can be exchanged for far more than you can imagine. The Nest Mother has offered substantial rewards to her warriors."

The warlord's gaze lingered on Shark White's face for a moment.

"Including the bloodline extraction potions developed by wizards that allow dragon bloodlines to break through bloodline shackles and transform into true dragons."

Shark White's vertical pupils suddenly lit up.

It was a light that Motu had never seen before.

It wasn't excitement, nor greed, but a light that bordered on piety, like a pilgrim seeing the flames atop a temple.

Its three serrated teeth slowly opened, and a low, suppressed gurgling sound came from its throat.

"A true dragon..."

It murmured, its voice so soft that only it could hear it.

The Dragon-Man Overlord glanced at the White Dragon, a slight smile playing on his lips, but said nothing more.

Becoming a true dragon is the obsession of almost all dragon bloodlines, so using this thing as a hook for fishing is sure to be a good idea.

What he didn't say was that although the Nest Mother did have a few bottles of such potions in her possession each year thanks to her cooperation with those academy wizards, the Dragon Nest Legion had hundreds of thousands of dragon beasts and wyverns, and the military merits required to exchange for such a precious item were absolutely astronomical.

The dragons that are qualified to obtain it are all exceptional beings, born out of thousands, with first-rate talent, combat strength, and intelligence.

Having handed out both the carrot and the stick, the dragon warlord reopened the roster, scratched a few lines on the page with his claws, and began the formal procedures.

"However, that's all for later. Right now, you need to pass the assessment first, and then assign teams."

He called out towards the door.

"Executive! Take them to the backyard."

A dragon-man executive officer walked in in response.

He was smaller than the warlord, but more wiry, with iron-gray scales and a bunch of keys hanging from his waist that jingled as he walked.

His vertical pupils were light gray, carrying a scrutinizing, assessing gaze.

"Come with me," he said.

Motu turned and walked out.

Shark White followed behind him, took a couple of steps, then suddenly leaned closer and whispered:

"Did you hear that? Bloodline Extraction Potion! The kind that can turn a Frost Embryo into a true dragon!"

Motu glanced at it: "I heard you."

"Isn't that what you mentioned before? The thing the wizards of the [Tower of Holy Blood] researched! The Nest Mother can actually exchange for it here!"

The white shark's tail started swishing again, making a loud slapping sound against the stone wall of the corridor.

Motu did not respond.

Of course he remembered. Back in the Dark Forest, he had mentioned that potion to Shark White; just one bottle would allow a pseudo-dragon to break through its bloodline shackles and become a true dragon.

Of course, Motu can now understand why the other party is so excited.

Back then, Bai Long only regarded it as a distant and almost unattainable goal. Now, this goal has been placed on a shelf called "Military Merit Exchange".

Although it is still far away, at least we can see it now.

The backyard was an open space enclosed by a low wall, with gravel on the ground that crunched underfoot.

A few thin, thorny bushes grew out of the cracks in the rocks, crookedly pointing towards the sky.

The executive made them stand in the center of the open space, then opened the roster and pointed to the blank spaces with his claws.

"One at a time. Let's start with the physical fitness test."

The test was simpler than Motu had imagined.

Running in circles, claw strike, tail strike, magic release.

After measuring several basic indicators, the executive made a few notes on the roster, then closed the notebook and began asking questions.

"Fighting style. You go first." He looked at Shark White.

Shark White puffed out his chest:

"I bite down and I won't let go. No matter how my opponent hits me, I just won't let go. And I can stay in the water for a long time. I have a water-based bloodline, so I'm twice as fast in the water as I am on land."

The executive nodded, wrote a few strokes on the roster, and then looked at Motu.

"Confront it head-on."

Motu said, "Lightning paralyzes the opponent, then seizes the opportunity to deliver a fatal blow. With metallized bones, the defense is stronger than a normal Tier 1."

The executive wrote a few more strokes and then turned to another page.

"Intelligence test. A few simple questions."

The problem is indeed simple.

How to deal with monsters you can't defeat? How many areas are there in the Mother Nest's territory? What should you do if you find anything unusual during patrols?

These are all topics taught in the general education program at the farm.

Motu answered each question, while Sha Bai gave a rough answer, albeit haltingly, but it was still passable.

But the executive officer's tone changed when he asked the last question.

"What are your views on the forces outside of Dragon's Nest?"

His vertical pupils shifted from the notepad, glancing at both dragons.

"For example, the wizards of the Tower of Holy Blood."

Shark White answered before Motu could.

"Those people are very strong. I saw one in the Dark Forest; he subdued a high-level magical beast in one move. We can't afford to mess with them."

It paused, then added,

"But I don't want to deal with them either. They're too powerful; it's safer to stay away."

The executive paused on the roster, didn't write anything, then lifted his pen and looked at Blue Dragon.

Motu remained silent for two seconds.

He recalled the gray-eyed wizard, his dark red robes, silver runes, and how he could clench his fist in the air, causing blood to flow backward, and in ten breaths, a rock-armored lizard of rank two or higher would be reduced to a withered corpse.

The image was etched deeply into his mind, but he felt no fear.

At least, it wasn't entirely fear.

"Their power system," Motu said, "is worth studying."

This answer seemed to be somewhat beyond the Dragonman Executive's expectations. He stopped writing, looked up at Motu, and a glint of light flashed in his vertical pupils that the blue dragon could not understand.

It wasn't surprise, nor was it wariness; it was more like a sense of relief, as if something had been confirmed.

Then he continued writing, the pen tip making a soft scratching sound on the notepad.

This time, he wrote more words than before.

Shark White secretly glanced at Mo Tu from the side. The three-layered serrations moved slightly, but he didn't say anything.

It knew that Motu was interested in wizards, having known this back in the Dark Forest.

But it never intended to be associated with wizards.

It's too dangerous. Those people's methods are so bizarre that it sends chills down my spine.

It only wants to find a pure-blooded white dragon to follow.

Spending too much time with a real white dragon might even increase your bloodline concentration.

Just like before when it inexplicably woke up while bathing in the river.

Perhaps the aura of a true dragon can drive the evolution of its sub-dragon bloodline.

That is its goal.

"Evaluation complete."

The dragon-man executive finally finished writing. He closed the notebook, nodded to the two dragons, and

"Wait here for a moment, I'll go report the results to my supervisor."

After saying that, he walked out of the backyard where the test was being conducted and went straight back to the stone house.

After a considerable amount of time, he returned and said to Motu and Shark White:

"Alright, the results are in. Come in with me."

Stone house interior.

The dragon-man overseer reopened the roster, glanced at the assessment records left by the executive officer, and then addressed the two dragons separately:

"Shark White, assigned to the third patrol team, stationed in the inner perimeter of the mother nest's territory."

Motu was assigned to the Seventh Mixed Defense Team, stationed at the border of the Youshui River basin.

Sha Bai was stunned.

Its vertical pupils were wide open, the three layers of serrated edges opening and closing repeatedly, as if it hadn't understood what the warlord was saying.

It turned its head to look at Motu, then at the Dragonman Overlord, before turning its head back and raising its voice eight octaves:

"Wait, aren't we together?"
