Huayu97: Starting with Wu Song Fighting the Tiger

Chapter 50 Pretending to be a ghost or a liar

As he spoke, he took out a peach wood sword, with a talisman hanging from its tip. He muttered incantations and walked around the Kunning Palace grounds. The words he uttered were a mix of classical and vernacular Chinese, such as "Taishang Laojun, hurry as the law commands" and "Qiankun Wuji Daofa Ziran" (the universe is boundless, and the Dao follows nature). No one could understand them, but they felt a sense of mystery wash over them, and goosebumps rose all over their bodies.

Liu Xiang grimaced as she listened, thinking to herself: This dialogue is exactly the same as the Taoist priests in Hong Kong ghost movies. Can't you come up with something fresh?

He took two steps forward, standing right next to Old Master Li. As the old man turned around, he lowered his voice and said in a tone only the two of them could hear, "Old Master, this is just an act. That's enough. We're all just working people, and it's not easy to earn money. Don't use this as an excuse to ask for more money."

Old Master Li paused, his hand, which was drawing talismans, stiffened. He turned his head and glanced at Liu Xiang out of the corner of his eye, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes. He quickly regained his dignified and otherworldly demeanor, though he continued muttering incantations, only in a softer voice. He ignored Liu Xiang but thought to himself: This kid is young, but his judgment is sharp.

Seeing that he remained silent, Liu Xiang didn't say anything more. She simply stood aside with her arms crossed, coldly watching him put on his act. Enough was enough. If he dared to ask for an exorbitant amount and try to swindle the production crew out of money, she wouldn't hesitate to expose the old man's tricks.

Just as Old Master Li walked to the back door, facing the ancient tomb complex on the back mountain, brandishing his peach wood sword and preparing to "summon lightning to exorcise evil spirits," a sudden change occurred!

Suddenly, a series of crackling explosions erupted in the woods behind the mountain, causing a fire to break out around the ancient tomb.

This terrified Sun Shupei, who led his men to put out the fire. Fortunately, the fire wasn't very large.

Immediately afterwards, a dark figure darted out of the ancient tomb with lightning speed, heading straight for Old Master Li!

"Not good! This demon can't escape!" Old Master Li's expression changed drastically. He raised his peach wood sword and charged forward, his posture exactly like that of a demon-hunting Taoist priest in a movie.

He wanted to use this to clear his name of the blame for starting the fire, so he acted even more enthusiastically, as if he were brave and fearless!

But the dark figure wasn't buying it at all. When it got close to Old Master Li, it was carrying a Luoyang shovel.

The tip of the shovel gleamed coldly in the moonlight; it was clearly not a friendly weapon.

"Damn it! Where did this old charlatan come from, ruining my good time!" the dark figure cursed, his voice rough and raspy, carrying a bandit-like air, as he swung his Luoyang shovel at Old Master Li.

A crisp "clang" rang out!

The peach wood sword was no match for the solid Luoyang shovel; it was smashed in two, splintering wood at the break. Old Master Li was jolted backward, stumbling and falling heavily to the ground. The compass in his hand flew out and shattered into several pieces on a rock with a loud crash. Yellow talismans from his Bagua bag scattered all over the ground, swirling in the strong wind like a shower of paper money.

"Tomb raiding!" someone shouted, the voice unusually shrill, and the crowd instantly erupted in chaos.

That's for sure! A Luoyang shovel, black clothes, hiding in an ancient tomb in the dead of night—what else could it be but tomb raiding?

That stray cat was probably released by these people to scare the film crew away, making it easier for them to rob the tomb!

Liu Xiang's heart skipped a beat. So it wasn't some kind of evil spirit, but rather the work of these tomb raiders! This was a really wicked trick. Knowing that this place was haunted, they used the name of an ancient tomb to play tricks and scare the film crew away.

Sun Shupei finally realized what was happening, his face turning ashen with anger. He roared at the crowd, "What are you all standing there for! Stop this brat! Don't let him get away!"

But as soon as he finished speaking, more than a dozen dark figures sprang out of the ancient tomb. Each of them was carrying a weapon, including a Luoyang shovel, a crowbar, and a machete. They looked fierce and menacing, and their faces were filled with menacing energy. They were clearly not good people.

"Damn it! You dare ruin our plans? Today we'll make sure you come in standing up and leave lying down!" The burly man at the head of the group looked particularly ferocious. He held a machete in his hand, the blade gleaming coldly, and pointed it at the film crew, cursing, "If you know what's good for you, get lost! Otherwise, I'll slice you all down to meet the King of Hell!"

The crew had never seen anything like this before. They were all artists, physically weak and had never even been in a fight before. The little courage they had just displayed had completely vanished. They shrank back, their faces turning pale, barely daring to breathe. Their earlier excitement had completely disappeared.

Fan Binbin was so frightened that she burst into tears, clutching Liu Xiang's clothes tightly, her little body trembling like a leaf: "Brother Liu Xiang, what should we do? They have knives! They're going to kill us!"

Lin Xin and Zhao Wei were so frightened that they huddled together, their lips trembling, unable to utter a word. Su Youpeng, nervously shielding them, tried to appear calm, shouting through gritted teeth, "You...you stay away! We've called the police! They're on their way!"

"Call the police?" The burly man sneered, his voice full of disdain. "Kid, who are you trying to fool? What good is a cell phone in this middle of nowhere? Call the police, my foot! Even if the police came, I'd have already run away with my treasure!"

With that, he waved his hand, spitting everywhere: "Brothers, get them! Teach them a lesson! I'll cover for you if anything happens!"

More than a dozen tomb raiders roared and charged towards the crowd like tigers descending from the mountain. They wielded their weapons with ferocious speed, a sight that terrified the onlookers.

Sun Shupei was so anxious he was stamping his feet, yelling at the assistant director, "Old Wang! Call the police! Hurry!"

Old Wang shakily pulled out his old mobile phone from his pocket. Back in 1997, the old mobile phone was heavy and big, like a brick.

His hands were shaking terribly, and there was really no signal; he was almost in tears.

The tomb raiders were about to rush towards the crowd; if they took another step forward, someone would be in danger.

Liu Xiang took a deep breath, stepped forward, and stood in front of the crowd.

His mere presence acted as an insurmountable barrier, instantly calming people's hearts.

"Stop right there!" Liu Xiang's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable authority, like a thunderclap that echoed clearly through the mountains.

The burly man paused, looked Liu Xiang up and down, and seeing that he was dressed in a film crew uniform and had nothing in his hands, he couldn't help but sneer: "Kid, you want to be a hero and save the damsel in distress? Don't you know your own limitations! Get out of the way right now, or I'll chop you up first!"

Liu Xiang ignored him, but simply moved her wrists and swung her arms, making a series of cracking sounds from her joints.

He thought to himself that it had been a long time since he had beaten someone up, and this was perfect; a target delivered right to his doorstep would allow him to advance the system's progress.
