Mr. Death in the Steam World

Chapter 154 You Must Come

Chapter 154 You Must Come Back

Seeing that everyone had quieted down, Moen deactivated "Red Dragon Claw".

As the dragon's might receded like the tide, everyone gasped for breath, their eyes filled with a newfound reverence as they looked at Moen.

"Allen." He turned around, his gaze falling on the classmate who had come to the safe zone with him the first time. "This place is yours."

Allen paused for a moment, then nodded vigorously.

Where are you going?

"Go find someone."

""

Moen didn't explain much. He quickly walked up to Chloe, squatted down, and reached out to pat her head.

"Chloe, I'm going out for a bit. You stay in the camp and don't wander off."

2

Chloe neither nodded nor shook her head.

"Xue told me that there is something very, very dangerous in that direction, and no one can fight against it."

2

"You're even worse."

Moen remained silent for a few seconds.

"Maybe," he said, "but some things have to be done, whether you like it or not. You can't just stand there and wait to die, can you?"

Chloe lowered her head, her hair falling down and obscuring her face.

Moen couldn't see her expression, but she could see her small fingers clenching the hem of her skirt above her knees.

"Then promise me," her voice was muffled, "you must come back."

,

Moen opened her mouth, wanting to say something to reassure her.

But when the words came out, they felt that any promise seemed pale and powerless in this wasteland that was about to be devoured by demons.

I will try my best.

In the end, he could only say these three words.

Chloe silently took something out of her pocket and put it into Moen's hand.

That was a snowflake.

Instead of melting in Moen's palm, it emitted a faint icy blue light.

The light was warm and gentle, like a beating heart.

"Take it, Moen," Chloe looked up, her small eyes reflecting Moen's face. "Snow will protect you."

Moen looked down at the snowflake in his palm and carefully tucked it into his bosom.

"Thank you, Chloe."

,

He stood up, turned, and walked towards the camp entrance. After taking two steps, he stopped and turned to look at Allen.

"Take good care of her."

Allen nodded solemnly.

Moen didn't linger and disappeared into the snowstorm.

He infused the hair clip with magic, and Phils's location clearly appeared in his mind: due north, about twenty miles east.

He quickened his pace, the snow crunching under his feet.

About half an hour later, several figures appeared in the snowstorm ahead.

The one in the lead had long, silver-white hair that flew in the wind, and her signature red headband made her instantly recognizable to Moen.

It was Phils.

Four or five students in uniforms followed behind her. Some were pale, and some had fear in their eyes, but they all stayed close behind her, not daring to fall behind.

Moen quickened his pace to meet him.

Fils saw him too, and rushed over to him, looking him up and down.

"Are you alright? Are you hurt? What have you been up to these past few days?"

"I'm fine," Moen interrupted her barrage of questions. "And you?"

"I'm fine too." Phils took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down. "But something happened outside."

After giving a brief account of the situation outside, she paused, a hint of anxiety flashing in her eyes.

"I don't know what's going on outside, I don't know how my sister is, I don't know if the professors are injured, I don't know anything."

,

Her voice trembled slightly. Moen listened quietly until she finished speaking, and only spoke after her breathing gradually calmed down.

"Phils, listen to me."

"If the Truth Society went to such lengths to infiltrate the Academy just for a Level 2 containment object like the Akashic Records, it would obviously not be worth it."

,

"The only explanation is that they have a need for this record to be reproduced."

His gaze passed over Phils's shoulder and looked toward the increasingly bright red light in the northwest.

"Look at the sky."

"Fils followed his gaze."

The red light surged in the wind and snow, mixed with thick black mist, like a giant beast slowly opening its eyes as it awoke.

"You should be able to tell that it's the aura of a demon, and it's far more powerful than the one we encountered in Kansas."

,

"It's obvious that Truth wants to help the demon break free of its seal here."

"Helping demons break free of their seals in the Akashic Records? What's the point of that?"

'

"I don't know." Moen shook his head. "But since they're willing to go to such lengths, there must be a reason. Besides..."

""

He looked away and gazed into Phils's eyes.

"Whatever their reasons may be, the only thing we can do now is to stop their reasoning as much as possible."

Phils chuckled at Moen's joke.

"You're right, Mr. Marcus."

"Overthinking won't solve anything. Instead of worrying about things outside, we should focus on doing the things in front of us well."

She turned her head and glanced at the several terrified students behind her.

"They are students from other colleges who were sucked in. I met them on the way just now. A few of them had minor injuries, but they're fine."

Moen nodded, his gaze sweeping over the faces of the students one by one.

He could find a way to speak to Phils gently, as for these unnecessary embellishments.

Sorry, we're not familiar with each other.

"The situation is urgent. You all need to come with me first. We're going to Lady Frostwinter's church to see what the higher-ups have to say."

The students finally found their leader and naturally nodded repeatedly.

Phils followed behind Moen and couldn't help but look up at him.

Although the howling wind and snow roared in their ears, the red light from the northwest grew brighter and brighter, dyeing the entire wasteland an ominous color.

But Moen walked ahead of her, his steps steady like a high wall, his back straight, giving her a great sense of security.

Suddenly, Phils felt that she wasn't so scared anymore.

"I have such good taste!"

She thought to herself.

Moen had no idea what was going through the girl's mind behind him.

His attention was entirely focused on the road ahead.

The snowflakes parted in front of them, as if paving the way for this small group.

After walking for about half an hour, the outline of a building finally appeared in front of us.

They were several low stone buildings, their exterior walls covered in frost, their roofs drooping low under the weight of snow.

The central one is much taller than the others, with a huge snowflake emblem carved above the main gate, and ancient inscriptions engraved on the edges of the emblem.

"The Ring of Eternal Winter"

The stronghold of the Frostwinter Lady Order in Winterfell.

However, the current situation completely undermined the solemnity and dignity that should have been present.

A tall, middle-aged man was shouting himself hoarse as he directed the chaotic crowd.

"The containment point in the East District is full! Send them to the West District!"

"Take the wounded to the rear hall! Don't block the entrance!"

"Has anyone seen the third squad? They haven't come back yet!"

,

No one answered his question, and his shouts were quickly swallowed up by the howling wind and snow and the noise of the crowd.

Moen's gaze swept across the chaotic crowd and quickly locked onto a familiar figure.
