The Iron Hoof Alliance's armory was hidden in an abandoned military warehouse. The heavy iron door was half-hidden by vines, and the verdigris on the door knocker gleamed coldly in the sunlight. Lin Ye stood outside the door and used his senses to probe. Deep inside the warehouse, wooden crates were neatly stacked, their energy reactions stable and pure—unopened ammunition, along with several heavy machine guns covered with tarpaulins.

"Alliance Leader Zhao is quite generous." Li Hu weighed the rifle in his hand, the barrel still bearing the original bluish-black color. "This thing is ten times stronger than the bullets we grind with bones."

Zhao Feng leaned against the door of the military jeep, toying with his military knife. "You can't catch a wolf without risking your cub. Chief Lin is guarding the gold nugget (referring to the rice paddies), so I have to show some sincerity." He gestured towards the warehouse. "There are fifty rifles, three heavy machine guns, and a box of grenades in there. In exchange, you can have your new rice next month."

Suya squatted on the grass outside the warehouse, her fingertips brushing against a mutated dandelion. The white fluff, propelled by her energy, transformed into tiny seeds that drifted into the distance—a new skill she had learned, allowing her to use seeds to detect the movements around her.

"Something's approaching." Su Ya suddenly stood up, her face grave. "A lot of it, coming from the valley to the west."

Lin Ye's senses spread instantly, and his heart clenched. The energy reactions in the western valley were dense and numerous, like surging tides, spreading towards the military warehouse at an astonishing speed.

"It's a horde of zombies!" Lin Jianjun raised his rifle, aiming at the western horizon. "At least five hundred! And there are high-level mutants too!"

Zhao Feng's expression changed, and his military knife was instantly drawn: "How could it be so fast? We just cleared out that corpse nest over there the day before yesterday!"

Before the words were even finished, the western sky was already covered by a dark, oppressive shadow. It wasn't dark clouds, but mutated bats disturbed by the horde of corpses. The men at the stronghold immediately split into two groups. Li Hu led his men in a cart to break through to the east, where the terrain was open and it would be easier to shake off the horde of zombies. Lin Ye, along with Lin Jianjun, Zhao Feng, and others, guarded the warehouse entrance, firing rifles and heavy machine guns simultaneously, bullets raining down on the swooping swarm of bats.

There were simply too many mutated bats, charging forward relentlessly, their wings ripped apart yet still fluttering forward, splattering blood and entrails everywhere. Old Zheng quickly pried open the metal barrel and threw the napalm bomb at the horde of zombies. A shard of Zhao Feng's military knife grazed the barrel, and a spark instantly ignited the gasoline. A raging fire spread through the horde of zombies, accompanied by screams of agony. But this was only temporary. More zombies charged forward, stepping over the corpses of their companions. The flames burned on their bodies, but did nothing to slow their advance.

"Something's wrong." In Lin Ye's perception, there was an unusually powerful energy reaction at the center of the zombie horde, carrying a cold will, directing the entire horde. "A zombie king is controlling them!"

Zhao Feng also noticed the anomaly: "It's the Bone Corpse King! That beast can control corpses. I chased it away last month, but I didn't expect it to be hiding in the valley, recuperating!"

Without hesitation, Lin Ye condensed dark purple energy into a spear and hurled it at the Bone Corpse King. Lin Ye remained silent. In his perception, the Bone Corpse King hadn't pursued them; it seemed to be guarding the military warehouse, which was highly unusual. The Corpse King usually only chased living creatures and would never stay in one place.

Li Hu ran over carrying a rocket launcher, cursing, "Damn it, how could I miss out on this mess! I'll just die with that Bone Corpse King!"

Seeing the determined looks in everyone's eyes, Lin Ye felt a surge of warmth in his heart. He no longer refused and nodded, "Okay, let's go together."

As the sun set, the five took advantage of the temporary calm of the horde of corpses and quietly sneaked back to the vicinity of the military warehouse. "Now!" Lin Ye shouted, his dark purple energy transforming into sharp blades that cleaved through the skeleton guards' defenses. Su Ya's vines followed closely behind, entangling the surrounding skeletons and creating a passage for them.

The Bone Corpse King sensed the danger and turned to pounce on them, its giant axe whistling through the air. Zhao Feng's military knife transformed into a shield to block the attack, and Lin Ye seized the opportunity to rush towards the refrigerated container and reach for the virus sample.

Just as his fingers were about to touch the glass tube, the Bone Corpse King's giant axe suddenly turned and swung towards the refrigerator. In the darkness, the figure covered in bone spikes drew closer and closer, carrying an aura of annihilation.

Unbeknownst to them, this was just the beginning. The leak of the virus sample not only caused the Bone King to evolve but also triggered even more terrifying mutations in the surrounding horde of zombies, a catastrophe brewing to engulf the entire region. And they had to carry this bad news back to their base alive, ready to face an even greater storm.
