Chapter 66 What to See
The room fell silent for a moment.
Haibara Yu stood at the doorway, his mouth slightly open, his eyes wide open, looking like a statue frozen in place.
"Your attitude changed so quickly!"
Nanami Kento stood beside him, his expression still calm, but the corner of his mouth twitched slightly: "He really has no professional ethics whatsoever."
Xia Youjie looked at the smirking curse master and remained silent for a moment.
He then put his phone away, glanced down at the photo on the screen, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
"Nanami-kun, Haibara-kun," he said gently, "come and take a look at this."
Nanami and Haibara Yu stepped forward, approached Xia Youjie, and looked down at their phone screens.
In the photo, Gojo Satoru's smiling face dominates the picture. He looks arrogant and irritating, and you can feel his "come praise me" vibe even through the screen.
"Wow, Gojo-senpai! You defeated your opponent without taking any damage!"
After a moment of reflection, Haibara Yu's gaze did not linger on Gojo Satoru's face, but instead fell on the corner of the photograph.
It was a very small corner, so small that you wouldn't notice it at all if you didn't look carefully.
But Haibara Yu stared at that corner for several seconds, then stretched out his finger and tapped on the screen.
"Nanami, look at this."
Nanami Kento looked in the direction he was pointing.
There was a very small figure in that corner.
It's very small, so small that it's only the size of a grain of rice. If you don't zoom in, you can't even see what it is.
But you can vaguely make out the outline of a person.
Black hair, black clothes, standing there casually, as if watching a spectacle.
Haibara Yu narrowed his eyes, looked at him for a few more seconds, and then his expression became somewhat subtle: "Nanami... look at this person, doesn't he look like he's wearing a high school uniform? Could it be Senior Tenyan?"
Nanami Kento frowned.
He moved closer, squinted, and stared at the tiny figure for several seconds.
Nanami Kento was silent for a moment, then spoke in a low and steady voice: "...It's somewhat similar."
Haibara Yu's eyes lit up: "Right! I think so too!"
Xia Youjie glanced at them, then looked down at the small dot on his phone screen, a genuine question mark appearing above his head.
"Tianyan Jun? He should still be on a rescue mission, what's he doing here?"
Haibara Yu answered honestly, telling Xia Youjie everything he had heard in the college office.
"In conclusion, Senior Tianyan has completed his mission and will be here to provide support, just like us. However, we split into two groups, and he should have just arrived."
......
Tianyan stopped two blocks away from that apartment building.
He stood on the street corner, hands in his pockets, and glanced up at the building in the distance.
The fighting has subsided considerably.
He closed his eyes and sensed the lingering, foul magical energy in the air.
Gojo Satoru's incantation power remained, stable and immense, like a lighthouse that would never go out, burning noisily in the quiet city.
"It seems that Nanami and Haibara Yu went to Xia You-kun's place, so Gojo doesn't need my help."
He said in a low, calm voice, "Curse casters are like rats in the gutter, at the very bottom of the entire sorcerer's ecosystem."
Even a curse master group like the Q organization is extremely weak in terms of high-end combat power; at most, they're probably only at level one.
A level one sorcerer is absolutely no match for Gojo Satoru, which is why Tenyan said that Gojo Satoru doesn't need his help.
Nanami and Haibara Yuya came to the same conclusion: that man didn't need anyone's help, never had.
Tianyan turned around and stopped.
A man was standing in front of the convenience store across the street.
Wearing a black short-sleeved shirt and black trousers, holding a can of coffee he just bought, he tilted his head back and took a sip, his Adam's apple bobbing, his posture as languid as a lion that had just woken up.
He was burly, with muscles that were faintly visible under the thin fabric. A scar on the corner of his mouth added a touch of ferocity to his already somewhat roguish face.
But at this moment, his expression was calm, even lazy, as if he were out buying a can of ordinary coffee on an ordinary morning.
Fu Heishen'er.
Tianyan paused for a moment, then resumed his normal pace.
He crossed the street and walked in the direction of the man.
"It's been a long time, Mr. Shen."
Shen Er heard footsteps, turned her head to look at him, and the corners of her mouth slowly curved up.
"Hey, you little skeleton."
"The last time we met was at Fushiguro Megumi's place. You haven't been back since then, have you?"
Shen Er waved his hand: "I'm earning money outside, and besides, they have you taking care of them, so there won't be any problems."
His voice was deep and husky, with his usual languidness: "Why aren't you staying at the vocational college? What are you doing here?"
Tianyan stopped in front of him: "I'm here on a mission, Mr. Shen'er is. What are you doing here at a time like this, in a place like this?"
She took another sip of coffee but did not answer immediately.
His gaze passed over Tianyan's shoulder, landed on the apartment building in the distance, lingered for a moment, and then returned to his own.
"Just passing by."
He said casually, "It looks quite lively over here, so I came to see what's going on."
"I have to say, people from the Gaozhou University are really flamboyant; this kind of scene is a rare sight indeed."
Looking back, I saw another explosion on the building across the street. I wondered what kind of spell the sorcerer on the other side used to produce such a noisy effect.
Tianyan turned to look at him, paused for a moment, and then smiled.
"Mr. Shen'er."
His voice lowered slightly: "Appearing here at this time, are you on a mission to assassinate the Starmatrix?"
Shen Er paused for a moment.
He moved the coffee can away from his mouth, looked down at Tianyan, and a dangerous glint flashed in his originally lazy eyes.
But the light lasted for less than a second before it became languid again.
"Assassination?"
Shen Er's lips curled into a half-smile: "You have quite the imagination."
He tilted his head back and drank the rest of his coffee in one gulp, then crushed the empty can and tossed it aside.
The empty can traced an arc through the air before landing precisely in a roadside trash can with a crisp "clatter".
"I was just passing by."
Shen Er put her hands back in her pockets, tilted her head, and looked at Tian Yan: "What? Because I've taken on quite a few commissions before, do you think I'd take on a mission to kill brats?"
He paused, the corners of his mouth widening slightly, his tone carrying a hint of joking.
"But then again, if I actually accepted..."
He took a step forward, looking down at Tianyan with a scrutinizing and probing gaze in his eyes.
"Will you stop me?"
