A top star in the Chinese entertainment industry, but also a Taoist priest.

Chapter 4: Is the Taoist priest's cultivation sufficient for such a young age?

The drive from Yiwu to Hengdian takes only a little over half an hour, and Zhao Mingyuan kept talking the whole way.

One moment he was introducing the various scenic spots in Hengdian, the next he was marveling at the hard work the crew put into preparing the film, and then he was subtly complimenting Chen Shouyi, who would occasionally respond.

After turning into Hengdian, the car drove for another ten minutes or so before stopping in front of a hotel.

The entrance bears the large characters "China World Trade Center". The hotel's facade is quite grand, with a lobby that appears to be three stories high, and crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, so bright they make your eyes dizzy.

There were several vans parked outside; I wonder which film crew's actors are staying here.

Zhao Mingyuan led the two into the lobby, had his assistant Xiao Liu get the room key from the front desk, and personally handed it to Chen Shouyi.

"Master, please make do with this place for now. The room has been arranged in the executive room on the twelfth floor. It's quiet and spacious, and it's also convenient to place your ritual implements."

As Zhao Mingyuan walked towards the elevator, he said, "Please rest first. I've booked a private room at the Chinese restaurant on the second floor tonight to welcome the Taoist priest. It'll be just a few of us from the group, no outsiders."

Chen Shouyi nodded and followed Zhao Mingyuan into the elevator.

Upon reaching the twelfth floor, Zhao Mingyuan helped carry the luggage to the room door, and then gave a few words of advice such as "Taoist Master, please rest first" and "I will pick you up tonight," before taking his leave with Xiao Liu.

Shouzhu watched him walk away and muttered to himself, "Master, that Director Zhao is quite enthusiastic."

"Nonsense, he must have something else he wants to ask me for, otherwise he wouldn't have arranged it so meticulously."

"Master, how did you know?"

"When have you ever seen someone who spends money be so polite to someone who receives it?" Chen Shouyi glanced at Shouzhuo indifferently.

"The normal procedure is that he gives me the money, I get the job done, and we're even. He's being so attentive, there's probably something else he hasn't asked for."

Shouzhuo nodded thoughtfully.

After entering the room, Chen Shouyi put away his Taoist robe and magic tool box, then walked to the window and drew back the curtains.

The suite has a square layout, with windows facing the direction of Hengdian town, and the outlines of several ancient-style city gates can be glimpsed in the distance.

Shouzhuo busied himself as soon as he entered the room, dragging the heavy canvas bag to a corner and carefully taking out the compass, robe, and cinnabar paper one by one and putting them away, afraid of bumping or damaging his master's ritual implements.

Chen Shouyi walked to the window and casually opened the Hengdian map on his phone to take a quick look.

He knew the main filming locations for "Qingqiu Fox" well; they were nothing more than the usual scenic spots like the Qingming Scroll and the Qin Palace, so he didn't need to worry too much.

Remembering the newly formed spiritual energy within his body, he simply sat cross-legged on the sofa, closed his eyes to regulate his breathing, and began to circulate that wisp of energy according to the methods of the "Yellow Emperor's Inner Landscape Cultivation Technique".

In less than a quarter of an hour, a faint warmth emanated from his body, and the Qi in his dantian became even more solid.

Chen Shouyi was secretly pleased that he could cultivate at such a speed in this degenerate age, thanks entirely to the system's support.

Before they knew it, it was six o'clock in the evening, and Zhao Mingyuan knocked on the door right on time.

Chen Shouyi changed into his purple sect leader's robes, tied his hair up with a wooden hairpin, and went out. Shouzhuo was already waiting in the corridor, having changed into a clean Taoist robe and retied his hair, looking more energetic than usual.

The three followed Zhao Mingyuan downstairs.

The private room was at the far end of the corridor of the Chinese restaurant on the second floor of the hotel. Zhao Mingyuan pushed open the door and there were already five or six people sitting inside.

"Come on, let me introduce myself to everyone."

Zhao Mingyuan stepped aside to let Chen Shouyi enter first, raising his voice slightly.

"This is Master Qingquan, the head of the Zifu Temple, whom I specially invited from the capital."

"We've invited a Taoist priest to preside over our opening ceremony, assess the feng shui of the film set, and bless our crew with smooth sailing."

The people in the private room all stood up abruptly, their eyes all fixed on Chen Shouyi.

Chen Shouyi nodded slightly and bowed in a Taoist greeting: "May the Heavenly Venerable grant you boundless blessings. I am Qingquan, and I greet all the benefactors."

Zhao Mingyuan introduced them one by one.

"This is our art director, Mr. Li Xianchang."

"This is the lighting director, Mr. Wu Song."

"This is the coordinator, Brother Zhou Zheng."

"And this one, Mr. Zhang Mingxuan, the head of publicity."

Zhao Mingyuan then pointed to a burly man sitting at the corner of the table:

"This is our action director, Guo Hu, Brother Hu. Brother Hu is a trained martial artist, he has real skills."

Guo Hu looked to be in his late thirties. He had a buzz cut, a neck that was thicker than the average person's, and the muscles on his arms stretched his T-shirt sleeves to their fullest extent.

He leaned back in his chair and looked Chen Shouyi up and down.

"You look quite young, Taoist priest," Guo Hu said casually. "I've met a few Taoist priests before, and they all had huge beards. Are you quite skilled at Taoist practice given your young age?"

Zhao Mingyuan's expression changed slightly, and he was about to smooth things over.

Shouzhuo chimed in from the side, "Esteemed benefactor, many old Taoist priests certainly possess genuine skills, but quite a few are merely freeloaders. My master may not be old, but you'll soon find out his abilities."

Guo Hu was taken aback by these words, snorted, and said nothing more.

Zhao Mingyuan quickly gestured for everyone to sit down, then pointed to two young men sitting at the end of the table:

"These two are our production assistants, Xiao Wang and Xiao Sun. Please feel free to ask them for anything you need, Master."

The two young men quickly stood up and nodded hastily.

Chen Shouyi glanced at the group, nodded slightly, and cupped his hands in a respectful gesture towards them:

"May the Heavenly Venerable grant you boundless blessings. I apologize for disturbing you this time."

Everyone quickly returned the greeting, politely saying "You're too kind, Daoist Master" and "Not at all," except for Guo Hu, who just snorted.

Zhao Mingyuan pulled out the chair next to the head of the table and greeted him warmly, "Daoist Master, please sit here."

Chen Shouyi did not refuse and sat down. Shouzhuo stood behind him without moving. Zhao Mingyuan quickly called the waiter to add a chair so that Shouzhuo could sit next to Chen Shouyi.

The waiter started serving cold dishes, and Zhao Mingyuan busied himself pouring wine.

"Taoist priest, is it white?"

"Just pour me a cup of tea," Chen Shouyi waved his hand.

Zhao Mingyuan didn't press the issue; people in the entertainment industry have seen this kind of thing many times, and one or two more drinks won't make a difference.

Once all the dishes were served and the drinks had been exchanged a few times, the atmosphere became lively.

Zhao Mingyuan picked up his glass and stood up: "Come on, brothers, let's all toast the Taoist priest. He's come all this way to bless our crew; thank you for your hard work!"

Everyone stood up in unison, picked up their glasses, and chimed in with their own comments.

"You've worked hard, Taoist priest!"

Chen Shouyi also stood up, picked up his teacup, and said calmly, "You are too kind, esteemed guests. I am merely doing my best to wish the film crew all the best."

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone drank it all in one gulp.

Wu Song was the first to sit down and started a conversation, tentatively speaking:

"Master, I heard that you did a feng shui consultation for an actor half a year ago, and that person got a good role afterward? Is it really that effective?"
