Alternatively, if you shoot exactly as the original film, then you can just edit it directly according to the original film.

The rough cut took 7 days, which is very fast, because some parts of the story could be edited from the original footage, and footage shot with a digital camera is easier to edit than footage shot with a film camera.

The rough cut was over 150 minutes long, which is about two and a half hours, and then the fine editing began.

Normally, after the first rough cut, a second rough cut is needed, especially when the director cannot make all the decisions alone. In that case, other people with decision-making power need to be consulted.

However, Xu Heng's film didn't need that; after the rough cut was completed, the fine cut began directly.

The requirements for fine editing are much higher than those for rough editing. It not only needs to ensure the smoothness of the plot, but also the smoothness of the shots.

In other words, it's about ensuring that the next shot is continuous with the previous shot, so that viewers aren't confused.

This requires editing the entry and exit points of each shot, and also timing the dialogue, actions, and even breathing.

The final cut took half a month and the edited version was 102 minutes long, because some time needed to be reserved for deletions and modifications during the review process.

The final version is expected to be 90 to 100 minutes long, far shorter than the original version of the previous life, which was over 130 minutes.

After the fine cut was completed, the next step was dubbing. By this time, the post-production of the film had been going on for 26 days, and the date was June 26th.

Just yesterday, the Beijing Film Academy fully reopened.
