Chapter 13 The Celestial Immortal's Brother
In an old alley near Dongsi, An Ming was sitting in the courtyard with a guitar on his lap and a vibrant young girl sitting next to him.
At that moment, he was teaching people how to press chords.
When the phone rang, he yelled irritably, "Who is it? Calling at this hour!"
The girl looked up; she appeared to be around ten years old, with long, black hair cascading down her back, giving her face an ethereal quality.
"Bro, why don't you answer the phone first? Teaching guitar isn't urgent."
The girl spoke slowly and deliberately, explaining that she wasn't actually that interested in the guitar, but she didn't want to be around her father, which was why she insisted on learning guitar from Anming.
Upon hearing this, An Ming glanced at the still persistently ringing phone, put down his guitar, picked up the phone, and walked aside.
"Hey, Lao Zhu, what's up? If it's not important, talk to me later. I'm busy right now." He sounded a little impatient.
On the other end of the phone, Zhu Yingjie's voice came through quickly: "Old An, Ocean Butterflies' people are here. They're at Hard Rock, looking for Xiao Song!"
An Ming was stunned for a moment, then his voice involuntarily rose a few decibels: "What? Ocean Butterflies' people are here?"
"Yes, they want to have a talk with Xiao Song!"
Upon hearing this, An Ming's hand holding the phone involuntarily tightened.
He never expected that Ocean Butterflies would find him again after so long.
He had initially thought the matter was completely hopeless, even though Song Mo seemed indifferent.
But putting myself in their shoes, if I had missed such an opportunity, I would have regretted it terribly.
Therefore, he always believed that Song Mo's calmness was feigned.
After all, everyone knows that men have pride, and who knows how much they're crying behind the scenes.
He also planned to invite Song Mo for a drink in a while to comfort him.
It seems this drinking session can now turn into a victory celebration.
"Old An? Old An?" Zhu Yingjie called from the other end of the phone, "Do you know where Xiao Song lives? Take them there?"
An Ming snapped out of his daze: "I know, I know. Tell them to wait at Hard Rock. I'll go pick up Xiao Song and head over."
After hanging up the phone, he stood there stunned for two seconds.
This kid, he really got what he was waiting for.
"Brother, what Ocean Butterflies? Is it the Ocean Butterflies that A-Du is known for?" A voice suddenly rang out beside him, startling him.
When he turned around, he saw his cousin standing behind him, her eyes sparkling with curiosity as if she had discovered a secret.
"Why do you walk so quietly? You scared me to death!" Anming said irritably.
"You were too excited on the phone and didn't hear it." His cousin didn't hold back and gave him a glare.
Seeing her like this, An Ming felt a little happier. This girl had become much more lively since returning to China, especially after filming.
This girl's parents divorced when she was very young, and then her mother took her to the United States.
When he was studying in the United States a couple of years ago, he would visit her from time to time. At that time, she was probably bullied a lot, and she was very depressed.
It's better as it is now.
"Brother, you still haven't answered me. Does this mean Ocean Butterflies is going to sign you? You're going to be a big star!"
Hearing this excited question, An Ming chuckled: "Sign me? I'd love to, but unfortunately it's not me, it's a friend of mine. I have to go out for a bit."
He started to walk out, but stopped at the door and looked back at the little girl who had followed him: "You stay home and keep your dad company. I'll come back later and teach you."
The little girl pursed her lips: "I want to go see it too."
"What are you going to do?"
"I just want to go and see," she said, her voice not loud, but she didn't back down.
"I'm fifteen, not a little kid anymore." She looked up at him. "And I'm already working."
Anming was speechless after hearing her words.
They weren't wrong. He filmed a movie and earned tens of thousands of yuan, which does count as working.
This girl doesn't talk much usually, but when she does, her occasional remarks can be quite sharp.
He glanced at the time, too lazy to argue: "Fine, fine, you can go, but you have to behave and not wander off, understand?"
"Mmm." The little girl deliberately dragged out her voice, then grabbed a small bag from the sofa and walked out.
Anming followed behind, shaking his head as he walked.
The two hailed a taxi. Anming gave them an address, and the car quickly made its way through a winding, old residential area.
Finally, the car stopped in front of a drab, gray residential building.
The building is a six-story brick-concrete structure common in the 1980s, and the exterior walls are quite old.
Several clotheslines were strung up on the open ground downstairs, with colorful clothes and sheets hanging on them.
Not far away, there was a pile of garbage, with flies swirling around it.
This place was completely different from what she had imagined. The little girl scrunched up her face, almost pinching her nose in frustration.
The dirty and chaotic scene before her eyes had a significant impact on her.
"Brother, your friend lives here?" She turned to look at An Ming, her voice tinged with disbelief. "Anyone can live here?"
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a faint voice came from behind him.
"Of course people can live here, I live here myself."
The little girl was startled and let out a scream, instinctively hiding behind An Ming.
An Ming was startled by her. He turned his head and saw Song Mo standing a few steps away, holding a bottle of cola, looking at them with a half-smile.
"Damn it," Anming glared at him, "Why do you walk so quietly?"
For some reason, he felt like this was the second time he had said it.
Song Mo shook the Coke bottle in his hand: "I made noise when I walked over, you just didn't hear me."
He glanced at the little girl hiding behind An Ming, a slight smile playing on his lips: "Scared?"
The little girl peeked half her head out from behind Anming, her face still showing signs of shock, but she didn't say a word.
Anming pulled her out from behind: "Alright, alright, you said you wanted to come, why are you hiding now? This is your brother Song, I mentioned him on the way here, and this is my cousin, she came along to have some fun."
The little girl straightened up and glared at Song Mo angrily. She thought he was really annoying, deliberately scaring her on their first meeting.
Song Mo didn't pay attention to her gaze, but he felt that the girl looked somewhat familiar.
But he didn't think much of it and turned to An Ming: "Why are you here? Is something wrong?"
His room was dark and damp, and since he was a straight man living there, it was naturally a mess, so he didn't plan to invite the two of them in for a while.
An Ming nodded, his tone more excited: "Of course there's something, great news! The people from Ocean Butterflies are here, they're waiting for you at Hard Rock."
Song Mo paused for a moment.
"You're here so soon?" He raised an eyebrow, but didn't seem particularly excited. "Alright, let's go then."
He walked past the little girl, and after taking two steps, he felt that something was wrong.
He stopped and looked back at the little girl again.
She was standing there, her long hair loose, the afternoon sun shining obliquely through the gaps in the buildings, illuminating her profile.
At fifteen years old, her skin was so white it was almost translucent.
Her eyebrows and eyes hadn't fully developed yet, but her face...
Song Mo's gaze lingered on her face.
Something in my mind suddenly paused for a moment.
Liu Yifei!
