Chapter 108 Destiny

"Song Mo, I received the song you sent." Her voice came from the other end of the phone, filled with barely suppressed excitement.

"I just hummed this song, 'True or False,' and it's really nice. Thank you."

Song Mo leaned back on the sofa and said with a smile, "I'm glad you like it."

But deep down, I felt a bit of a perverse sense of amusement, since this song was one of the representative works of her good friend, whom she later refused to perform on stage with.

"I love it so much." Angela Chang's voice was bright. "I think this song suits me perfectly. The melody is beautiful and powerful, and I'm determined to sing it well."

"Of course, I wrote this especially for you." Song Mo's tone became relaxed. "Send it to me when you've recorded it."

"Definitely," Zhang Shaohan paused, then added, "Song Mo, thank you so much, I don't know what to say."

Song Mo laughed: "Then let's not talk about it. I'm going to Taiwan for the Golden Melody Awards, so you can thank me properly then."

"The Golden Melody Awards?" Angela Chang was taken aback. "You're nominated? It shouldn't have started yet, right?"

"Not yet, I'm just making a wish." Song Mo laughed twice. "But there should be a chance next year. When I go to Taiwan, you'll treat me to a meal."

Bi Xiaoshi and Xu Yuan both talked to him about the awards a couple of days ago, with the Golden Melody Awards being the most important. Although the chances of winning were slim, they said that talking to him should help him get a few nominations.

Hearing Song Mo say this, Zhang Shaohan's voice clearly carried a hint of amusement, "It's a deal. You can choose whatever you want to eat, it's on me."

"Okay, it's settled then."

As soon as Song Mo hung up the phone, he looked up and saw Jin Sha staring at him with a resentful expression.

Startled, Song Mo nearly threw his phone at her face. He said irritably, "Senior sister, how did you get in? Why was there no sound?"

"You didn't close the door," Jinsha said quietly.

Then his expression changed, and he switched to attack mode, directly accusing, "Junior brother, you're too fickle, aren't you?"

Song Mo was stunned for a moment: "What?"

"I heard it! You gave her all of Angela Chang's songs, but what about mine? I've been waiting for days, you haven't forgotten, have you?" Jinsha stared straight at him, her sweet face looking particularly pitiful.

This made Song Mo feel deeply guilty, and he quickly begged for forgiveness: "I haven't forgotten, I haven't forgotten, how could I forget? There's a first-come, first-served rule, she agreed first. So, Senior Sister, don't worry, I'll definitely give it to you tomorrow."

"Really?" Jinsha's tone was skeptical. "You're not just giving me a piece of cake, are you?"

"How could that be?" Song Mo said confidently, "I've actually already thought it through. I just haven't had time to finish it yet, but this song will definitely satisfy you. If you're not satisfied, I'll rewrite it until you are."

Jinsha was silent for two seconds, seemingly considering whether Song Mo's words were true or false.

After a moment, she suddenly changed her expression and smiled brightly: "Fine, I'll wait and see. If you dare to fool me, I won't let you off the hook."

"Don't worry, I would never dare," Song Mo said with a smile. "You're my own senior sister; I wouldn't lie to you, let alone anyone else."

After seeing Jinsha off, Song Mo gave a wry smile. Well, before getting busy with his new album, he still had to work on "The Summer Breeze."

He needs to get it done, otherwise he can't handle Jinsha coming every day.

The next morning, Song Mo finished writing the lyrics and music for "Summer Breeze".

He knew the melody of this song very well. In another time and space, it was a classic duet by Lin Junjie and Jin Sha, light and refreshing, with the unique sunshine flavor of summer.

Song Mo set the main melody to the female vocal key, and only wrote a short harmony for the male vocal part, intending to give it directly to Jin Sha as a solo.

Anyway, he doesn't plan to include this song in his new album. Rather than turning it into a duet, it's better to let Jinsha sing it alone. It's clean and simple, which is fine too.

He put the manuscript in his bag and drove to Ocean Butterflies.

Pushing open the door to the practice room, I saw Jinsha practicing her voice. She was wearing a pink sports T-shirt, her hair tied in a high ponytail, standing in front of the mirror, practicing her breath control in front of the microphone.

When she saw Song Mo come in, she turned off the stereo, turned around, and her eyes were bright.

"Junior brother, is the song finished?" Her tone was filled with anticipation, but also a little uneasy uncertainty.

Song Mo took out the few sheets of paper from his bag and handed them over: "Here, take a look."

Jinsha took it and looked down at it. Her brows furrowed slightly at first, then slowly relaxed, and the corners of her mouth gradually turned up.

She hummed a few lines of the chorus softly, her voice low but clear and crisp, echoing in the empty practice room.

"The Summer Breeze" — she read the song title aloud, then looked up at Song Mo, "This song is so beautiful."

"Of course, how could my writing be bad?" Song Mo leaned against the wall and said with a smile, "Give it a try and see if it suits you."

Jinsha nodded, took the manuscript paper, walked to the microphone, cleared her throat, and began to sing.

Her voice is relatively average, but fortunately she has been practicing her voice recently, and her breath control is much more stable than before.

The verses were sung in a relaxed manner, but when the chorus came on, the voice rose a bit, carrying a clear and sweet quality unique to young girls, like a summer breeze blowing across a wheat field.

After finishing the song, Jinsha took off her headphones and turned to Song Mo: "Junior brother, I think this song suits me very well."

She really likes this song. Currently, Bi Xiaoshi is trying to find songs for her everywhere, but none of them are ones she particularly likes.

Seeing this song now, I feel that it was destined for her.

"It's fine as long as it suits you." Song Mo nodded. "If you feel anything is wrong, I can adjust it again."

"No need to adjust, just leave it like this." Jinsha hugged the manuscript to her arms, her eyes crinkling with laughter. "I love it so much."

Just then, Bi Xiaoshi and Xu Yuan pushed the door open and came in.

Bi Xiaoshi, holding a folder, saw Jin Sha excitedly clutching her manuscript and smiled, "What? Little Song's song is finished?"

Jinsha nodded vigorously, handed over the manuscript, which Bi Xiaoshi took, glanced at, and then passed to Xu Yuan.

The two huddled together for a while, when Bi Xiaoshi suddenly looked up and glanced at Song Mo.

"This song—it should be a duet, right?" His tone was somewhat tentative. "The harmony in the chorus clearly shows the two singers alternating. Xiao Song, did you simplify the male vocal part?"

Song Mo was taken aback, not expecting Bi Xiaoshi to have figured it out, but he didn't intend to hide it. He nodded and said, "I originally planned to write it as a duet, but I felt that it didn't quite fit the style of my new album, so I changed it to a solo for my senior sister to sing alone."

Hearing Song Mo say this, Bi Xiaoshi nodded and said seriously, "I feel that this song would be even better if it were sung as a duet. With a man and a woman singing in harmony, the feeling of the ambiguous period of summer would come through. If it were sung solo, it would lack a certain something."

Jinsha's eyes lit up when she heard their conversation. She looked at Song Mo, her lips moved as if she wanted to say something, but she was too embarrassed to speak.
