Douluo Continent: I can overdraft the future in advance
Chapter 65: The Scent of a Shura Field? That shouldn't be the case.
Meanwhile, in the inner courtyard dormitory.
Ma Xiaotao was lying in bed resting with her eyes closed. Her lustful desire had been relatively stable these past few days, and she was in a good mood. The dormitory door was pushed open, and a girl with a ponytail walked in. She was a senior from the inner courtyard, and she and Ma Xiaotao were on good terms.
"Xiao Tao, have you heard?" The girl plopped down on Ma Xiao Tao's bed, her voice filled with excitement.
"What did you hear?" Ma Xiaotao asked without opening her eyes.
"That junior from the outer academy! The one you met by Seagod Lake last year, the ice-attribute one! Today, during the promotion assessment, he chose the Thousand-Year Raging Blood Bull, and froze him in one move! He didn't even need to use his soul skills!" The girl's voice grew louder and louder. "And his martial soul seems to have evolved. Some people say he's grown ice wings on his back, that it's the Ice Phoenix martial soul, the ultimate ice!"
Ma Xiaotao suddenly opened her eyes.
"What did you say? Ultimate Ice?"
"Yeah! It's all over the outer courtyard!" The girl patted the edge of the bed. "Xiao Tao, you have great taste. You took a liking to her so early. An Ice Phoenix Martial Soul of ultimate ice, and you, a Fire Phoenix, tsk tsk tsk, they're a match made in heaven."
"Shut up." Ma Xiaotao sat up, a hint of unease flashing across her face, but she quickly suppressed it.
She didn't say anything more, stood up, put on her coat, and went out the door.
The girl called out from behind, "Where are you going?"
Ma Xiaotao did not answer, but quickly walked through the inner courtyard corridor and headed towards the outer courtyard.
---
Ling Luochen was sitting in his dormitory reading a book.
The door was pushed open; it was her roommate from the inner courtyard with whom she had a good relationship.
"Luo Chen, have you heard?" Her roommate's voice was filled with excitement as she plopped down on Ling Luo Chen's bed. "The outer courtyard has produced an ultimate ice master!"
Ling Luochen paused for a moment while turning the pages of the book.
"What did you say?"
"Ultimate Ice!" my roommate repeated, her eyes sparkling. "I just went to see the professors and overheard several of them talking. They said there's a second-year student in the outer academy whose martial soul is the Ice Phoenix, Ultimate Ice!"
Ling Luochen put down her book and turned to look at her roommate.
"Are you sure it's the ultimate ice?"
"I'm sure! Those are the things the teachers said, not things I made up," my roommate replied.
Ling Luochen remained silent.
She cultivated ice attributes from a young age and understood better than anyone what ultimate ice meant.
Ling Luochen asked the classmate for his name and dormitory, then stood up and put on his coat.
"Where are you going?" my roommate asked.
"Outer courtyard."
---
Not long after, downstairs at the dormitory building of the Foreign Languages Department.
Luo Yun had just finished showering and was sitting on the bed drying his hair when Chen Jiyong's voice came from outside the door.
"Yun-ge! Someone's looking for you downstairs!"
Luo Yun paused for a moment, put down the towel, put on his coat, and went downstairs.
Two unusual people were standing at the entrance of the dormitory building.
One was Ma Xiaotao, whose long red hair was particularly eye-catching in the sunlight. She was wearing an inner courtyard uniform and had her arms crossed.
The other one stood a few steps away, also dressed in the inner courtyard's uniform, with long, flowing hair, a cold and aloof appearance, and an air of walking ice. Luo Yun didn't recognize her.
Ma Xiaotao was the first to step forward and speak.
"Junior, do you remember me?" She took two steps forward, her tone much lighter than usual, a smile playing on her lips. "We met before on the shore of Poseidon Lake. You helped me a lot that time."
Luo Yun nodded: "Senior, I remember."
"I heard your martial spirit has advanced further, is that right?" Ma Xiaotao stared at him, as if confirming something.
Ling Luochen, standing to the side, raised an eyebrow slightly upon hearing this.
Ma Xiaotao actually knew him all along? And it sounds like he even helped Ma Xiaotao before?
The way she looked at Ma Xiaotao changed.
Ling Luochen stepped forward and spoke politely but directly.
"Hello, I am Ling Luochen from the Inner Court." She paused. "I heard that your martial soul is the Ultimate Ice. Although it may be presumptuous of me, could I ask you to release your martial soul? It might greatly help my cultivation. Of course, I am willing to pay a reward."
The atmosphere became awkward.
Ma Xiaotao turned her head, glanced at Ling Luochen, her lips moved slightly, but she didn't say anything. But her eyes clearly said—I was here first.
Ling Luochen didn't look at her; his gaze remained fixed on Luo Yun, his expression sincere.
Ma Xiaotao turned back to look at Luo Yun, the smile still on her lips, but a little stiffer than before.
"Junior, my teacher already knows about your martial soul evolution. He's paying close attention to you."
Ling Luochen chimed in from the side, her tone indifferent, "Dean Yan does indeed pay close attention to outstanding students."
Ma Xiaotao's lips twitched.
"Ling Luochen, I wasn't talking to you."
"I wasn't talking to you either," Ling Luochen said calmly. "I was talking to Luo Yun."
Luo Yun stood in the middle, his expression unchanged, but he could feel two pairs of eyes on him, neither of which were easy to deal with.
Just as he was about to say something, a hurried footstep came from afar.
"Luo Yun!"
Wang Yan practically jogged over. He reached Luo Yun, took a breath, and then noticed two other people standing nearby.
"Ma Xiaotao? Ling Luochen?" Wang Yan was taken aback. "What are you two doing here?"
Ma Xiaotao didn't answer, nor did Ling Luochen. Both of them looked at Wang Yan, waiting for him to explain his purpose.
Wang Yan didn't explain further, and directly said to Luo Yun, "Come with me, someone wants to see you."
"Okay." Luo Yun didn't ask any more questions; he just wanted to escape from here.
He nodded slightly to Ma Xiaotao and Ling Luochen as a farewell, and then followed Wang Yan away.
Ma Xiaotao watched Luo Yun's figure disappear, then turned to look at Ling Luochen. Her expression changed, taking on a cold glint.
"Ling Luochen, let me make this clear. I met Luo Yun first, so don't even think about hitting on him."
Ling Luochen glanced at her, his tone indifferent: "We're all classmates, what's wrong with asking each other for favors? He only helped you once, didn't he? Does it mean it's reasonable for you to ask him for help, but it's considered having ulterior motives for me to ask him for help?"
Ma Xiaotao's eyes narrowed slightly, her fire-attribute soul power fluctuated, and the surrounding temperature rose a few degrees.
Ling Luochen stood still, his ice-attribute soul power naturally released, blocking the heat outside.
A hot atmosphere and a cold atmosphere collided silently beneath the dormitory building. Passing students avoided them.
Ma Xiaotao stared at her for a few seconds, then turned and left without saying a word.
Ling Luochen didn't linger and left in another direction.
---
Wang Yan led Luo Yun through the teaching building area, around Shrek Square, and along the shore of Poseidon Lake.
Luo Yun had walked this road many times, but this time, Wang Yan did not stop by the lake. Instead, he led him onto a small boat and headed to the island in the lake.
Luo Yun had a plan in mind. The island in the middle of the lake, the inner courtyard, the Sea God Pavilion.
Wang Yan led Luo Yun up a building, to the third floor, and stopped in front of a room.
Wang Yan pushed open the door and stepped aside.
Luo Yun went inside.
The room was simple, with a long table and people sitting on either side of it.
Luo Yun's gaze swept across the long table, and he quickly counted in his mind—eight people. Adding the one at the head of the table—nine people.
He only knew one.
An old man sat in the main seat, looking like an ordinary old man. But Luo Yun knew he was no ordinary man. He was Mu En, the Dragon God Douluo, the strongest student at Shrek Academy, a level 99 Limit Douluo. He had seen him before, downstairs in the freshman dormitory, the old man lying on a deck chair sunbathing.
He didn't recognize the remaining eight people. But none of them who were sitting at this table were ordinary people.
