Chen Jiyong's mouth remained open for a full five seconds before he could close it.

"Brother Yun, you're too..." He circled around Luo Yun again, "Martial Soul evolution can make a person this good-looking? I want one too."

"I was lucky." Luo Yun put down his backpack and sat on the bed. "I had a lucky encounter while training in the far north, and my martial spirit evolved."

He didn't elaborate.

Chen Jiyong didn't press further, but simply remarked, "Brother Yun, you're so lucky. You came back from your trip looking even more handsome."

Luo Yun smiled but didn't reply.

---

The next day, school officially started.

When Luo Yun and Chen Jiyong entered the teaching building, the noise in the corridor noticeably paused. Several students from Class 1 walked towards them, and upon seeing Luo Yun, their feet seemed to freeze in place.

"Luo...Luo Yun?"

"What happened to you?"

"Is this hair color natural?"

Luo Yun gave a few perfunctory replies about his "evolved martial spirit," and walked into the classroom amidst whispers. The seating arrangement in Class One was largely unchanged. He sat down in his usual spot, with Chen Jiyong sitting next to him. Students around him frequently turned to look at him, some wanting to ask more questions, but the bell rang.

Wang Yan walked into the classroom, not carrying a textbook, but a list. He stood on the podium, his gaze sweeping over the whole class, lingering on Luo Yun for a moment before looking away.

"We won't be having class in the classroom today. Everyone, come with me."

The classroom was quiet for a moment, then a rustling sound of people getting up could be heard. More than forty people followed Wang Yan out of the teaching building, across Shrek Square, around Poseidon Lake, and walked north along a gravel path for about fifteen minutes.

The view ahead suddenly opened up.

A massive oval building stands before us. Its exterior is made of grayish-white stone, towering into the clouds, estimated to be over fifty meters high. The front of the building has a wide entrance, above which are inscribed three large characters—"Colosseum."

Luo Yun looked up. He had seen this place in the college handbook and often passed by it during his daily campus life, but this was the first time he had seen it in person. The scale of the building far exceeded his imagination—its long diameter was at least 170 or 180 meters, and its short diameter was about 150 meters. The outer walls were divided into four layers, each with a ring of arched windows. The stands rose in tiers from the inside out, also four layers high, and he roughly estimated that it could hold tens of thousands of people.

The group entered through the entrance and passed through the passageway; the interior was even more breathtaking than the exterior. At the center of the enormous oval arena was a wide expanse of stone slabs, covered in the marks of battle—claw marks, scorched earth, and sword streaks. The surrounding stands rose in tiers, already quite full. Not just the students from Class One, but all four classes of the second year were present, nearly three hundred students scattered across the stands, yet occupying only a small area compared to the building's capacity.

A row of teachers sat on the highest platform. Luo Yun glanced at them; there were at least a dozen people, among whom were several familiar faces—Zhou Yi sat on the left with her arms crossed, her expression as serious as ever; Du Weilun, the dean of the Martial Soul Department of the Outer Academy, sat in the center, holding a folder and talking to the teacher next to him.

Seeing that all the first-year students had arrived, Du Weiren began to address them.

"The second-grade promotion assessment is now beginning."

The chatter in the stands instantly fell silent.

"The assessment rules are simple. Each person will randomly draw a soul beast. There is no time limit. Defeating it is the pass." Du Weilun paused. "The drawing order is based on class and student ID number. Class One will be tested first, starting with the class monitor."

Luo Yun remained calm as he stood up from his seat, walked down the steps, and stepped onto the stone slab ground in the center of the venue.

The referee, a burly man in his forties with a serious expression, stood at the edge of the field. He held a booklet in his hand and, after Luo Yun came to his feet, asked, "What department are you in?"

"Control System"

The referee nodded, opened the booklet, and asked, "For the second-year promotion assessment, you can choose the age of your soul beast. Which age do you choose?"

Luo Yun didn't hesitate: "What's the highest number I can choose?"

The referee looked up at him, a hint of scrutiny in his eyes, then closed the booklet and said calmly, "Second-year promotion assessment, the highest option is a thousand years."

"Then let it last a thousand years," Luo Yun said.

Without asking any further questions, the referee turned and walked towards the iron gate on one side of the field, pulling down the handle. The heavy iron gate slowly rose, emitting a grating creak.

Behind the iron gate was a dark passage, from which came heavy breathing.

The ground began to shake.

A giant bull charged out of the passage. It was three times the size of an ordinary bull, nearly two meters tall at the shoulder, and covered in dark red fur. Its two horns were thick and curved. Its eyes were crimson, as if they might breathe fire at any moment.

A thousand-year-old soul beast, the Furious Blood Ox.

Luo Yun recognized this kind of spirit beast. It was a Bloodthirsty Bull, a strength-type spirit beast renowned for its power and defense among its peers. Even more terrifying was its innate ability—the Bloodthirsty Rage state. When injured or enraged, it would enter a berserk state, its entire body turning blood red, doubling its strength and speed simultaneously.

A thousand-year-old Rage Blood Bull in its Rage Blood state possesses combat power comparable to an ordinary soul beast over two thousand years old.

The referee stood at the edge of the field and raised his hand.

"start."

The Angry Blood Bull saw Luo Yun. It lowered its head and pawed the ground with its front hooves, carving four deep furrows into the stone slab. Then it charged forward, its hooves flying.

Luo Yun stood still, without moving.

The enraged bull charged at him, less than five meters away.

Luo Yun made a move.

He activated his Martial Soul. Ice-blue light surged from his body, and a pair of ice-blue wings unfurled from his shoulder blades. Three spirit rings slowly rotated around him.

He raised his right hand.

He didn't use any soul skills. He simply stretched out his hand, palm facing the charging Furious Blood Bull.

The temperature in the air dropped sharply.

The raging bull slowed its pace. Not because it slowed down on its own, but because its limbs were freezing. Frost spread from its hooves, climbing up its calves at an astonishing speed. It lowered its head, intending to butt with its horns, but the tips were immediately encased in a thick layer of ice crystals.

The entire Angry Blood Bull, from its hooves to its head, was frozen into an ice sculpture in less than two breaths.

It maintained its charging posture, with its front hooves off the ground, its horns outstretched, and the crimson in its eyes could still shine through the ice.

The arena fell silent.

Luo Yun withdrew his hand, his icy blue wings fluttering gently behind him before retracting his martial spirit. He stood beside the ice sculpture, his expression calm, as if he had merely done something insignificant.

The referee stood at the edge of the field, silent for several seconds. He looked at the ice sculpture, then at Luo Yun, and his Adam's apple bobbed.

"Class One, Luo Yun—passed."

A deafening roar erupted from the stands.

"It was over in seconds?!"

"A thousand-year-old soul beast was instantly killed?!"

"He sprouted wings when he activated his martial spirit just now?! Did our class monitor have wings when he activated his martial spirit before?"

The sounds of discussion, exclamations, and screams mingled together, and the entire arena erupted into chaos.

Chen Jiyong stood on his seat, mouth agape, eyes wide with shock. He had just been worried that Luo Yun might get hurt choosing a thousand-year-old soul beast, but Luo Yun hadn't even used his soul skills; he had simply raised his hand and frozen the thousand-year-old soul beast.

"Yun-ge..." he muttered to himself, "Are you cheating?"
